novato, oakland, sunnyvale and all the bay area, this is abc7 news. new this morning, the united states department of justice is opening a civil right investigation and the chicago police department. attorney general lynch said that the investigation will focus on use of force and accountability in the department. the announcement comes two weeks after the release of video showing an officer shooting 17-year-old laquan mcdonald 16 times. the officer jason van dyke pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder. in meantime, no criminal charges will be property against a chicago police officer in the second fatal shooting. we the prosecutors say a dash camera video of the shooting shows suspect had a gun. >> happening today, survivors of the pearl harbor bombing will gather for the lighting of the beacon ceremony at mount mt.
