broadcast center, this is abc7 news. >> developing news now, a nanny pistol whipped in an east bay home. the search is on for the attacker who assaulted the babysitter in front of a five-year-old girl. good evening. i'm dan ashley. >> i'm ama daetz. the attack happened during a home invasion just before 3:00 in uh -- orinda off highway 24. >> alan wang is following this story choosely and is live from the orinda police department. alan? >> dan and ama, bay area police are still on the lookout for the family car the suspect stole. the nanny who he pistol whipped is still being treated at the hospital for a nasty cut on the back of her head. the youngest victim may have the longest recovery after witnessing this crime. >> she saw everything.

>> her 5-year-old daughter witnessed the violent home invasion that left her nanny injured. >> i haven't had a chance to talk to her and hug her and tell her everything is okay. i don't know. this will be a hard conversation to have with her. >> she was at work around 2:15 when a man confronted hr nanny in the front yard of the home. after communicating she did not understand english, the man left. but he returned 15 minutes later and kicked in the door. he was armed with a gun so the 53-year-old nanny gave him some cash and two ipads. but it wasn't enough. >> he pistol whipped her in the back of the head. >> then demanded the keys for the porsche in the garage and took off. the police chief believes the suspect has no connection to the family. it was a random crime of opportunity. >> this is a frontage road next to highway 24. there is an on-ramp and off-ramp within half a mile. it is very easy.

>> it happened to us, so we are just gonna have to put in more cameras. >> police say there are several surveillance cameras they are examining that could have captured the image of the suspect. alan wang, abc7 news. >> the police department notified all area law enforcement to be on the lookout for that stolen vehicle. it is a black 2012 porsche cayenne. >> new at 11:00, at least one person died in a car accident in the north bay. two vehicles collided on highway 101 just south of cassania road around 7:30. the crash blocked the left lane of 101 for several hours. well, once again we are on storm watch tonight. rain is approaching the bay area. as we take a live look outside with our abc7 roof cam we want to go to sandhya patel with live doppler 7hd and the timing for this wet weather? >> let's look at live doppler

7hd and look at the timing as well. tomorrow morning fog is what the doppler radar is tracking right now. it is going to be dicey for your commute. it is also tracking the storm. the storm is coming in for wednesday and going into thursday. it is a two on our storm impact scale. gusts to 45 miles an hour. our stormiest time is thursday morning. the rain arrives before the main storm. so light rain and drizzle tomorrow at 5:00 a.m. notice you can still see dense spots moving toward san francisco and the san ma day quo coastline. at noontime you are still seeing rain and drizzle. it is very light. 5:00 p.m. evening rush hour north bay is getting the wet weather. and then here comes the storm. windy, wet. north bay is getting the thunderstorm potential as well as we head toward the 5:00 a.m. time period. it is going to be very stormy. so we go from a few slick spots due to drizzle tomorrow morning to wet and windy conditions on thursday morning.

too. i'm proud to be your fellow american. and many, many other americans feel the same way. and take a look at this now. the front page of the new york daily news depicts trump holding a sword and beheading the statue of liberty. that's a reference to isis terrorists. and you can catch barbara walter's full interview right after jimmy "jimmy kimmel live." >> new at 11:00, the federal investigators believe the gunmen in the san bernadino rampage may have plotted an earlier attack. they believe farook conspired in 2012, and then backed out after the terrorism arrests in the area. they are also looking into a deposit of $28,000 to farook's account after the shooting. the money came from a third party bank from the on-line lender prosper based in san francisco. farook and his wife killed 14 people and injured 21 in last wednesday's attack. there was chaos, fear and

confusion during the mass shooting. first responders are giving us a clearer picture of the scene. one deputy told a frightened mother not to worry because he would take a bullet for her. >> one of the 300 people that were there said the same thing. that's our job for putting ourselves in the line of danger to protect the community. >> it was cloudy or smoky. the gun powder was heavily prevalent in the room. but in the end the training just took over. >> one officer who searched the building said he was so afraid his body went numb. tonight san francisco supervisors rejected an attempt to stop the arena project. it is being built in mission bay and an opposition group filed an appeal saying the environmental impact report was flawed. abc7 news was at city hall as they rallied before the meeting. but the decision wasn't even close. the supervisors voted 10 to 0 to deny the challenge. the warriors hope to break

east bay and all the bay area, this is abc7 news. >> the city council was set to discuss the deal with the nfl to use youth soccer fields during super bowl 50. that discussion was going to be behind closed doors and that infuriated parents who say they are being kept in the dark. abc7 news reporter lisa amin gulezian is live with the story. lisa? >> dan, by law the council is allowed to talk about lease agreements and buying and renting land in closed session. the people who support the soccer field say they want transparency when they come to the future of the field. that's why they are circulating this petition to try to get support for their cause. >> it shouldn't take a rocket scientist for us to get the

information that we're entitled to. >> i am so uncomfortable with that. i am not going into closed session to talk about it. >> that is the deal between the nfl and the city and how the youth soccer league park will be restored after super bowl 50. the 11-acre parcel will be used for media, half time show and security staging. >> they have to restore that back to the original purpose. if they don't, then there is going to be difficulties with that. >> today the nfl sent this letter to the city agreeing to restore the field. but many here don't buy it. they want details, a contract, a time line. something to hold the nfl accountable just in case. and they want it discussed in the open. former congressional candidate was here. he thinks the league's demand makes sense. >> i hope that santa clara will stand strong and stand by the kids for playing soccer. >> meanwhile, the league's 1600 players just wished

here is a time lapse. san francisco was just really obscured by the fog. this is a short time ago. this is what your morning commute will look like across parts of the bay area. plan on extra time when you get going tomorrow. temperatures in the 50s across the entire region. fog and clouds and light rain and drizzle tomorrow. it is going to be stormy for your thursday morning commute. on the storm impact scale, the next storm coming in is moderate and it is a two. we are expecting the wind to kick up. in the north bay mountains 45 to 50 miles an hour is prompting a wind advisory. tomorrow night it runs until 10:00 a.m. on thursday and there is definitely the possibility of downed trees and power lines. it is not just in the north bay mountains, but you could see those topple anywhere. wednesday night the winds start to pick up and the wind may actually wake you up gusting to 43 miles an hour napa and 41 in san francisco

for the morning commute on thursday you get the picture. it will come down toward the latter part of your thursday morning. let's look at the timing of all of this. light rain develops or drizzle in the north bay, 5:00 a.m. tomorrow. we'll keep in the possibility of a few damp spots going into the latter part of the morning. at noontime you will notice some of the green across san francisco. yes we will keep it damp in spots. it is not going to be a rainy wednesday. there will be some rain focused in the north bay with drizzle elsewhere. as we head toward thursday morning it is all changing up. it is going to get wet across the entire bay area and stormy starting at 3:00 a.m. sliding southward for the morning commute 5:00 a.m. everyone is getting the wet, windy conditions. 6:00 a.m. the focus is on the south bay, and the santa cruz mountains. then you will see a few showers as you are grabbing lunch. the second wave of the same storm comes in.

thursday evening as the commute begins light to moderate rain and even thunder on thursday night. going into your friday morning we will see showers for the friday morning commute and then things will taper with the first storm. rainfall totals with the first system is taking you through at least friday morning. it is looking like over an inch in the north bay area. so the wettest north bay locations over an inch. could see .45 in san jose and everyone else in between. a healthy dose of rain and snow in the mountains. up to two feet of snow over the passes. chain controls and major travel delays expected with strong winds there and could even see whiteout conditions. plan accordingly. i don't recommend you try to head up there thursday into friday. fog is problematic. watch out for the slick roadways. the afternoon highs looking like this, mid50s to the up -- to the 60s. the first storm will be a two
