san francisco, 45 in san jose. napa at 45. good morning. a chilly start. 7 degrees cooler in livermore. the plan throughout the day, increasing clouds. look for 50s to near 60 today. and then a storm comes in tomorrow. details in just a few minutes on that. chris. >> lisa, thank you. breaking news out of fremont this morning. a man died after a collision on northbound 880. again, it happened this morning closing all lanes. a car gas stalled not far left lane when another car slammed into the back of it. all northbound lanes in the area are closed until further notice. more breaking news for you out of san francisco. one person is dead after a car hit a pedestrian on interstate 280 earlier this morning. had happened just before 2:00 in the northbound lanes at the ocean avenue on-ramp.

chp has reopened all lanes after being closed for nearly two hours. you can stick with us for updates on our breaking news and follow us on twitter at abc7 news bay area. hundreds of babies may have been exposed to tuberculosis in the south bay putting them at risk of the severe illness. a nurse tested positive. doc force say there's a low chance the nurse passed it on to somebody else. but nobody is taking any chances. >> if this were to happen to any one baby, that would one baby too many. >> at santa clara valley medical center officials are trying to head off a health emergency. a nurse had contact with babies while she had tuberculosis and she it did not know it. >> she did not have cough so was not coughing up tuberculosis during the period of time that she was working. >> well, that any delayed her diagnosis, it also means she

wasn't as contagious as she could have been. >> while the individual did have active or infectious t. b. disease, probably not able to spread it that well simply because individuals didn't have any symptoms at all. >> still the hospital says 350 babies may have been exposed along with hundreds of moms and staff members. the adults will be screened and treated, if necessary. the clair of pediatrics is recommending all of the daily be treated with a daily antibiotickic for six to nine months. >> when a baby gets tuberculosis, it can get into the bloodstream and travel throughout the body to other area, including the brain, which is the most feared complication. >> the public health department said santa clara county has the fourth highest rate of td in california. in san jose, katie marzullo, abc news. >> we learned the name of an

officer who shot and killed march row woods. that officer is charles woods. all of these officers are on administrative leave, which is routine in cases like these. police tell us there are three different investigations into the shooting. his family has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the police department. their attorney said video footage disputes accounts that he threatened officers with a knife. >> he didn't raise his man in a threatening manner before the barrage of shots were against him. >> he was the best of me. and he redeemed himself. >> police say they are unable to comment on pending lawsuits. sky 7hd was there when a group of high school students blocked traffic in union square. they left classes yesterday and

marched across the city calling for justice for woods and other people killed by police. 5:04 is our time. the fbi pulled several items from a san bernardino lake as they search for evidence connected to last week's shooting rampage. they have not said what they removed. they are looking for a computer hard drive belonging to the attackers. police believe they threw it in the lake after killing 14 people and just before being killed in a shootout with officers. a bay area muslim community will hold a prayer vigil today for the victims of the san bernardino shooting. the muslim community will hold that vigil in bay point. the community said it's condemns the shootings and sends condolences to the victims' families and friends. it starts at 6:00 tonight at the bay point mosque. investigators believe a fire at a mosque in riverside county was intentionally set. a person of interest was located and detaped. members of the mosque said

someone fire bombed the building around noon yesterday. nobody was hurt but flames did damage the front lobby of the mosque. the fbi plans to assist local police in investigating what happened. gun sales in california have reached a record high this year. sales spiked on black friday and sales following the san bernardino attack. there have been more than 1.5 million federal background checks because of firearm purse this year. that broke the previous record of 1.47 million set last year. and this month usually draws more gun sales for holiday gifts and get ag head of any new gun restrictions the new yearna bring. happening today the san francisco community group is using thousands of dollars they raised for a gun by back. united players is hosting the event today if he south of market clubhouse. people will get $100 for a handgun and $200 for an assault weapon. more than 900 guns have been turned in in buy backs since 2011. the buy back starts at 8:00 this

>> welcome back. lisa argen is tracking a storm headed our way and we will have more coming up in the alaska weather forecast. second graders at one oakland school aren't allowing el nino rains to wreak havoc at their nearby canyon. they have been involved in a habitat restoration project and that's one reason they received a good sum of money from a prominent environmental agency. lyanne melendez explains. >> take a beautiful canyon like beacon's field in oakland, add some second gradeerts from joaquin miller elementary, and you have the makings of a great restoration project. >> we pulled 8 bags of evasive plants. this will help keep the creek healthy. >> improving and maintaining the creek is also one of their duties. all through this canyon there are habitat restoration projects like this one. what the kids have done is

mid-30s up in santa rosa. windchill of 32 degrees. by the delta you are 35. 40 concord and livermore has dropped down to 39 degrees. so we will look for the clouds clouds to continue to increase in san francisco. overall it will be partly cloudy this morning. we will see sun, more on the peninsula and south bay and even the east bay. but the north bay it will fade quickly. and a storm headed our way tomorrow with windy conditions. this has been extended. the high surf advisory from really yesterday, down through 4:00 this afternoon, all the way down through monterey. the wave height still huge but they were up to 40 feet here. still out of control and very, very dangerous out there. certainly ocean beach for sure. so keep that in mind today. the system coming in tomorrow will be ranking number 2 open our storm impact scale request anywhere from a half-inch to inch of rain with very gusty winds of we will look for very treacherous travel on the

roadways. it will be slick out there. 1:00 today it's cloudy. rain up in ukiah. by 4:00 cloverdale and ukiah getting their heads wet. but 8:00, scattered showers maybe into marin county and by 4:00 in the morning some light rain showers. we will get you going to 7:00 where the heavier rain is in santa rosa. through 11:00 it's pushing southward to the golden gate. then from 1:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon, we've got heavy rain from castro valley to fremont into san jose. and looking at some afternoon clearing. the breezy winds, they will be a factor, as well. a half-inch to inch in the wettest lock, of the north bay. anywhere from a third inch to mountain view to about half-inch san carlos airport. the winds check it out. 27 miles an hour sfo with 35 miles an hour wind gusts. with the passage of the cold front, the gustiest winds.
