bridge. check it out from 680 and danville. san francisco and the peninsula, san bruno, it has been light but some pockets of moderate rain from redwood city and further south for our friends around haywood, it's coming. in the south bay it will be at your doorstep the next hour. accompanying the cold front some gusty winds. up to 38 miles an hour at sfo. two hour delays here and we are just getting going with the wind. we have a wind advisory and ahead of the front out of the southwest. that's why we've been so mild. behind the front temperatures will tumble and we will continue to drop. wind advisory through 10:00 and because of this you may have to hold on to the steering wheel pretty tight and you could see some downed trees down there. i'll detail the rain for you in your neighborhood coming up. carolyn. >> all right. here are some tips to be

prepared before a powerful storm hits from pg&e. have a flashlight with batteries ready to go in case the power goes out. keep your cell phone charged and have a portable charging device handy. if you have a stand by generators make sure pg&e checks to make sure it's installed safely to avoid damage to your home. as the latest storm hits the bay area, dangerous rip currents are pounding the coast. abc7 news was at fort point in san francisco yesterday where big waves slammed the shoreline. there were waves up to 17 feet from sonoma county down to monterey. in sonoma county flooding blocked north and southbound lanes of highway 1 yesterday. rising water from the river has flooded low-lying areas of jenner.

fairfield. two people are dead after a three-car accident on northbound 680 last night at gold hill road. the chp said a jeep was speeding when it collided with a town car, which caused a chain reaction and then hit a toyota. the force of the collisions trapped the two people inside the town car. it burst into flames. the other two drivers are in stable condition. officers believe drugs or alcohol could be to blame. authorities have arrested this man, carle diale junior, of setting a mosque on fire. he burglarized a building on friday. witnesses say a fire bomb was thrown at the mosque's front door. they described hearing a loud boom before seeing flames. firefighters contained the flames to the building's front lobby. several people inside escaped unharmed. >> sadness, actually. it's a family place. it's a social place for us. we just have to work on rebuilding it again >> the mosque is about 75 miles

from san bernardino where 14 people died in a terrorist attack by islamic extremists earlier this month. state and federal authorities are working together in the investigation. it happened after september 11th, now it's happening again. sikhs being wrongly identified as muslims are being racially profiled and intimidated. now there's a nationwide alert for sikhs to be careful. abc7 news reporter lisa amin gulezian has the story. >> sikhs are not muslims. >> just as not all muslims are terrorists, sikhs are not muslims. but after a terrorist attack, sikhs often suffer the backlash. it happened after september 11th. >> i don't know what to think. they think i belong to the muslim religion.

no, i'm the sikh religion. >> now there is concern for the safety of all sikhs. last week a building in orange county was vandalized. "isis" was spraypainted on this property. and at the chargers game a security guard refused to let this group of young sikhs in unless they took off their turbins. they were eventually allowed inside the stadium but while inside a bomb sniffing dog sniffed their car. one of the men spoke with our sister station via skype. >> it's bad. it's embarrassing for me. we are americans and we are not supposed to be afraid of the fellow americans. >> it's fear that is causing some to step up security. cameras capture just about everything. still, no one wants to take any chances. >> there's no doubt you could have ignorant people that are intent on intimidating these folks.

>> san jose police is also upping their presence in areas. abc news. president obama calls this weekend's historic climate agreement in paris, quote, the best chance to save the one planet we have. yesterday's agreement signed by nearly every nation in the world calls on all countries to cut and then eliminate greenhouse gas pollution. it also aims to keep global temperatures from rising another 1.8 degrees fahrenheit between now and the year 2100. leaders from 195 nations agree to shift away from carbon-based fuels in the future. oakland's mayor, libby shaft, is back from paris where she says -- told the delegates how oakland is leading the way in green innovation. she said the world is listening. >> paris just showed that the rest of the world has recognized this is an urgent problem and we need to act now. >> together we show what is possible when the world stands as one. >> president obama predicts the

paris agreement will lead to job creation in the clean energy sector on a scale unseen before. a bay area ocean is at risk more than most bodies of water because of ocean acidification. according to our news partner, monterey bay may reach extremely high levels of acidity in the next 35 years because of what is called up-welling, which brings cold water of the arctic currents from the surface. it's more acidic than the pacific surface waters. state lawmakers will introduce a bill to study the impact. >> in napa county a 24-year-old vallejo resident faces drunk driving and child endangerment charges. they say the person was under the influence while driving 28 students home on a school bus friday. officers arrested parker after receiving reports of a bus blocking a road.

they say she tried to turn the bus around, but it got stuck. parker failed sobriety tests. none of the students were injured. well, the about buck stopped in milwaukee. it had to happen sometime. the warriors historic run has ended. it's been incredible. 24 straight wins to start the season, an nba record. 28 straight regular-season wins if you date it back to last season. that's second all-time. klay thompson was back last night after missing one game with a sprained ankle. the warriors are now 24-1. >> losing still sucks. just as i remember it as a player and as i remember as an assistant coach. it's never fun to lose. but it's a lot of fun to coach those guys in there. unfortunately it looks like the schedule and the road trip caught up to them. the warriors have a k few days

into the bay area. we just got a tweet from you are marin county chp saying lots of standing water on the freeway entry ways. they are handling multiple collisionings throughout the county and they are asking motorists to please slow down. lisa here shortly with the full accuweather forecast. >> the organizers of burning man are asking to be exempt from an updated nevada state tax. they believe the newly-amended tax on live entertainment unfairly targets the annual arts and music festival as a funding source for state projects. the organizers say it could cost them nearly $3 million and force them to raise ticket prices. they are challenging it. ticket prices will not be set until they hear back from the taxation department. happening today the family of the baby girl who disappeared more than two years ago in oakland is holding a coat exchange.

daphne we bbs father reported her missing in 2013. you might remember he left the baby in the back of a car when he went into the store. when he came out she was gone. daphne's family said they still have hope to find her. to today they will host give a coat, warm a heart, and donate coats to those in need in honor of daphne. it starts at 9:30 at the emmanuel temple church in vallejo. >> there's a little more riding this year on the success of a local tree lot. every christmas tree sold is helping a woman to heal. abc7 news reporter sergio quintana shows us the tough diagnosis the family faces. >> this is the fourth year to the cozzolinos's have sold christmas trees at half moon ba bay. this year stephanie has kept an eye on business from inside this little green box. >> i like your little booth there. it's nice. [laughter] >> she would like to be out on the lot but the booth protects her from the elements. i go in the trailer because it's

too cold. i just need to make sure i don't get sick. that will delay my treatment. >> at 24 years old she was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer in october. her husband, tony, is still rattled by the diagnosis. >> you wish you could blink and it's all over. and she's healed. we know that's not the case. it is going to take time. >> this battle with cancer add --ed added a nuisance of insurgency for this crop of christmas trees. christmas tree season stretches from the day after thanksgiving until christmas eve. but the cazzolinos hope to have all of their trees sold by the end of next week. tony hopes to spend as much time with stephanie as possible because her treatments are going to intensify. the good news is she's part of an experimental program at stanford, and her mom said it's great to see her family pull together to help. >> it sounds so corny how important family and friends are, but it's made a huge difference for us. >> since word got out of her illness, the community has rallied around. >> we've had volunteers down here almost every single day.

at abc7news.com/apps and it's free. heavenly mountain resort in lake tahoe is living up to its name for skiers. a viewer sent us this video of lots of fresh powder and mostly clear skies yesterday. perfect conditions for rushing down the slopes. a winter storm warning will be in effect for south lake tahoe until 7:00 tonight with up to 3 inches of snow falling every hour late this evening through the early afternoon. lisa, it makes for perfect conditions there. >> yes. they are getting rain right now. it's in the 30s. higher elevation snow but they get that cement and it packs it more so when the foot and a half and two feet can fall on top of that, with i is going to happen in the afternoon and evening hours. we are looking at some moderate to heavy rain in the north bay. ite been raining for you all morning long. upwards of an inch already. santa rosa, you are still looking at moderate rain through

highway 101, petaluma. mount st. helena a good downpour and gusty winds with 30 mile-an-hour wind gusts. even higher in the average. check out with line of heavy rain through daly city and lafayette and miranda. and as we go closer we have 580, 680 all impacted here, just pushing down into san leandro now. concord and livermore, walnut creek and danville. san ramon and dublin look at the moderate to heavy wayne. daly city to 280, south city. a good cell here. pacifica, burlingame and san mateo. it's been a little lighter but it's going to pick up and finally from fremont to union city and hayward. you have light rain, gusty winds all morning long. and further south for our friends in santa clara, saratoga. the rain is picking up for you and it will last through the late morning hours along with the winds. higher elevations looking at

some snow right now. it's been so warm. we've been in the warm sector and behind it we will get the colder air and with that we could see some snow on mt. hamilton this evening. so the winds here up to 40 miles an hour and traveling not advised in the sierra nevada. look how quickly this fills in. it's a fast mover as it pushes through the central bay right now. it will continue to hold together as it pushes through the south bay. the winds right now up to 47 miles an hour at sfo. delays over two hours. and even with the frontal passage we will have gusty winds as it shifts to the northwest. you notice everywhere that hayward to mountain view it is breeze breezy. it's incredible. we haven't seen rain like this for years in san francisco. you notice point race, half moon bay, 30 to 40 miles per hour wind gusts and that's why the national weather service has kept the wind advisory until 10:00 tonight. a live look outside where we are

in the exploratorium arena. temperatures in the 50s the temperatures will drop throughout the afternoon. the warmest numbers already with us are past and we are looking at the warm spot, livermore 56. as the cold front pushes in we are getting the cooler air, possibility of a thunderstorm. maybe a few sunny breaks and then the dusting perhaps in the higher elevations with the low snow levels. we will be dry for the next couple of days. today this is a moderate storm with anywhere from a half-inch or three quarters inch of rain. 9:00, here's the band of heavy rain that continues to push into the east bay and south bay through 10:00. 11:00, still with us or milbrae and cupertino and down through big sur throughout the early afternoon hours. check it out with a few breaks in the clouds. we could see a thunderstorm, unstable air and that's when we could see some of the lower snow levels. half-inch to three quarters of an inch throughout the day today with the moderate storm. the sierra nevada, the snow just getting going in the next hour or two. it will switch over. then we will see anywhere from a

rain. front pushes through and you can see it changing over to some snow in some areas. still moderate rain but the heaviest rain is san francisco. marin county looking at moderate rain, the gusty wins. this is what i'm talking about from elmo to 680, back to san leandro and 580. just pushed fluid san francisco, san bruno. it will continue to push to the south and east. lighter rain from sunnyvale and milpitas, redwood city. your rain is going to pick up within the next 30 minutes. the winds have really been out of control. anywhere from 30 to nearly 50 miles an hour. the airport delay is over 2 hours here. even with the passage of a cold front the winds remain quite gusty out of the north at 10:00 tonight. it could be dicey out there for the next several hours. we will look at this to continue throughout the next hour or so in san francisco. then the focus does shift south into the south bay and along the central coast. we could see a thunderstorm, as

minutes. the cold front has passed through san francisco. bug the line of road here, around 680, union city looking at some pretty good rain around fremont, as well. be careful out there. we've got ponding on the roadways and the drains really working overtime. here's the san mateo bridge and further westward we are looking at san mateo and foster city getting wet. burlingame, san bruno and the gusty winds continue further south around portolo valley. stanford and los altos. santa clara, san jose gust tip winds and into evergreen. looking at the rain picking up for you in intensity. we will look for this to continue the next hour or so. in the north bay things of quieting down. the cold front has pushed through and look at the like sharply ending from santa rosa to heelsburg. winds gusty and finally changing over to snow in the sierra nevada. look how quickly it pushes

through the bay area. you see it spill in and just move right into the east bay, the south bay right now. and then behind it we will get just a little bit of clearing and those gusty winds continuing. so it held together pretty well. and the forecast models did a good job in allowing for the wind to continue, 30 to 40 miles per hour gusts, even with the frontal passage here. check it out. near 50 miles an hour half moon day. livermore about 30 miles an hour. and at 1:00 you will notice that we still have very gusty winds out there. through 10:00 tonight these winds are not going to settle down. they have switched directions to the north and the west and that's why the temperatures will cool off. that will bring the unstable air overhead. we could see a slight chance of a thunderstorm. with a little moisture left ovey maybe a dusting around mt. hamilton and diablo. temperatures in the low 50s now. sfo delays of over two hours out there. so kind of a mess for your sunday. but, boy, happy to have to. it's going to last throughout the next couple of hours, but

it's not an all-day event. we still have more in the seven-day outlook. a look at a lake tahoe where where it's gusty, a rain-snow mix. mainly a dry couple of days before more rain perhaps on thursday. so our storm impact scale, a designating this about a 2. anywhere from a half into have three quarters of an inch, maybe an inch in the higher elevations. so 10:00, 11:00, you guys in the south bay from santa clara, cupertino and sunnyvale getting in on the heavier rain. morgan hill, gilroy. and then behind it the spotty showers and maybe a thunderstorm. but the winds, they aren't going to relax. it will be a gusty day out there. here's what one forecast model is totaling, over half-inch of rain. we've had about .4 already here in san francisco. the snow gets going in the next hour. it stays all night long, eric through noon tomorrow in yosemite. for the northern sierra, 20 inches in kirkwood. low to mid-50s today, maybe a
