good morning. i'm reena ninan. >> i'm richard bacon. here are some of the top headlines we're following on "world news now." after a briefing at the national counterterrorism center, president obama said there's no specific and credible credit to the homeland. and he said that agents will be working around the clock during the holidays to keep americans safe. >> oklahoma police have a suspect in custody for a shooting spree along a 60-mile stretch of an interstate highway. they don't have a motive. two people in two different cars were killed. police say the shooter was drunk. the defense department has released many of the e-mails sent from ash carter from his personal account. most deal with administrative matters like waiting for someone outside his hotel or who pays for dinner.

self-initiating, self-motivating, they're harder to detect. and that makes it harder to prevent. >> reporter: a majority of americans, 77%, are skeptical of the government's ability to prevent lone wolf attacks. as the president noted, changes are being made to strengthen the security of the visa waiver program. some lawmakers questioned immigration officials about their inability to keep track of every visa violator. >> how many of those people are still in the united states? >> i don't know. >> doesn't that scare you? >> reporter: before the president heads to hawaii for his annual holiday vacation, he will travel to san bernardino later today to meet privately with families of the attack victims. reena? richard? >> bazi, thank you. there's been another arrest stemming from the attack in san bernardino. 24-year-old enrique marquez is in custody right now, facing terror-related charges, including conspiracy to provide material to terrorists. he bought the assault rifles used in san bernardino by his

friends syed farook and his wife. prosecutors say they had planned attacks on a community college and on freeway drivers. those attacks, thankfully, were never carried out. >> he has provided them with a lot of detail about the weapons. about possibly other attacks planned, about conversations in particular with farook. >> during a brief court appearance yesterday, marquez provided one-word answers to a judge. he will be held until monday when he will be back in court. pierre thomas has details on marquez's actions, following the san bernardino attack. >> reporter: just hours after the december 3rd shooting, a frantic marquez dials 911. at one point, the dispatcher says, why do you feel like you want to kill yourself? here's what's follows. marquez responds, "my neighbor, he did the san bernardino shooting. he was the shooter." he added the expletive, he used my gun in the shooting. your gun?

marquez responds. yes. oh, my god. the dispatcher asks, how do you know it's your gun? marquez responds, they can trace all of the guns back to me. when asked who the shooter was, marquez responds flatly, it's syed farook. marquez checked into the ucla harvard medical center and went to the e.r. later that evening. fbi said he had consumed nine bottles of beer. richard, reena? >> pierre, thank you. the fear of terrorism is intruding even on some of the happiest places on earth -- theme parks. visitors will be seeing additional security measures during this holiday season. at disney world, universal and sea world are screening visitors with metal detectors. visit are taking it in stride. >> i think it's good. with the times right now, i think it's what we need. >> i think it was bound to happen sooner or later. just because of what's been happening around the world globally. >> california theme parks are

taking similar steps, including disneyland, sea world, san diego and universal hollywood. six flags said it had bag searches and metal connectors -- metal detectors since 9/11. disney is the parent of abc news. the presidential race, starting with changes for ben carson. he will not be going to israel and africa after christmas. his campaign canceled the trip because of significant security concerns. carson told reporters the exact nature of the threat is classified. the trip was intended to improve his credibility on foreign policy. meanwhile, kind words from vladimir putin for donald trump. the russian leader yesterday calling trump a talented, very colorful person. and the absolute leader of the presidential race.

situation. >> a massive rifle. that's terrifying. the fbi has turned the search for that missing 18-year-old, better known as the affluenza teen, into a federal manhunt. >> ethan couch was given ten years probation after killing four people in a drunk driving accident. he is now feared to have fled the country. abc's matt gutman has the latest. >> reporter: the fbi and u.s. marshals have joined the manhunt for ethan couch. investigators are tracking his family cars and credit cards, and possible passport. in 2013, then-16-year-old's legal team convinced the judge to give him probation for killing four in a drunk driving crash, arguing he suffered from affluenza, too spoiled to know right from wrong. and after this on twitter, showing him at a boozy party, he allegedly vanished. skipping checking in with his probation officer and possibly the country.

>> oh, boy. we're going to go on to a serious topic here. with enrique marquez. new charges against him. he was a friend of one of the san bernardino attackers. marquez made a court appearance, with a one-word answer to a judge and not entering a plea. >> he is facing charges, including support to terrorists. marquez will be held until monday at least, when he will attend another court hearing. abc news' brian ross is on the case. >> reporter: after ten days of questioning by the fbi at a secret location, enrique marquez was brought to the federal courthouse in riverside, california, to face serious terror charges. within hours of the san bernardino terror rampage, the fbi figured out that the two assault rifles were caught by marquez, almost four years ago. but the charges made public revealed the 24-year-old marquez, and his long-time friend and former next door neighborhood, syed farook, planned to use the weapons and

pipe bombs to attack the cafeteria of a community college in 2011 or early 2012. and later for a rush hour terror attack on this california freeway. quote, the plan was for farook to throw pipe bombs on to the freeway. and then, farook allegedly planned to move among stopped vehicles shooting into them, while marquez shot into vehicles from a nearby hillside. according to the federal complaint, it was farook who persuaded marquez to turn to islam. he radicalized him using online videos and publications from al qaeda. authorities charge that farook got marquez to marry a russian woman, who was an extended member of franconia farook's family so she could come to the united states. marquez confided to his friends, it was all a sham. >> he married her for the visa. and gave him 5, 10 grand. that's where he left it. >> reporter: ominously, in the weeks before the terror attack that killed 14 people in san
