with live, breaking news. >> that breaking news is happening in las vegas where a car plowed into pedestrians on the famous strip tonight. police say at least one person was killed and three dozen others were injured. it happened in front of the paris hotel and planet hollywood. the woman driver was in custody and undergoing a field sobriety test. here is what witnesses saw. >> she came to a stop here at the paris intersection and then she -- people were punching the window trying to get the child out of the backseat. she accelerated again and kept mowing everyone down. >> it looked like she wasn't even trying to stop the car. she had both hands on the wheel and looking straight forward. >> abc7 news anchor kristen sze is in las vegas on a vacation and described the scene shortly after the crash. >> behind me the eiffel tower in front of bally's is where the accident happened. i was just across the street

in the bellagio hotel. we were watching a show with my family and had no idea this happened. when we stepped out and saw there was nobody standing on this block was a surreal scene on the busy vegas strip. >> kristen joins us live on the phone from las vegas. kristen, thanks for doing this for us. what does it look like now? >> eric, the latest we are hearing from las vegas police is authorities are now telling us that it is not terrorism. they have ruled that out. they still say it was possibly intentional. they are investigating that on the strip. las vegas police are asking witnesses to come to any of them if they saw anything to tell them what they saw and what they might know. also police are now checking all of the hotel surveillance video to try to get some information from that. we are also hearing that the strip may be closed until tomorrow. so this is going to cause a big impact with the closure. obviously a lot of visitors here. there are lots of families here and lots of scared little

that rain caused problems on downtown san francisco streets. this is what happened when cars drove through the high water. they were not realizing how deep it was. as this storm winds down get ready for another round tomorrow. now a look at live doppler 7hd. this next storm system will be stronger. >> the one arriving tomorrow, more moisture than this one. live doppler 7hd and it has been busy tracking the light showers all weekend wrong. we will press into vallejo with light showers. one light shower to move through walnut creek. we have a light shower moving into oakland. it is damp over san francisco at the moment with cloudy skies and then to the south bay milpitas and union city and even redwood city has damp showers. now this rain has been really per sis extent. this is what it looks like from the richmond san rafael bridge. there is rain doting the landscape and it really has been the haves and the have

notes. the north bay has seen an inch of rainfall. mill valley is coming in over two inches of total rainfall. san francisco over an inch of rain in oakland and santa rosa coming in half an inch of rainfall. as you look forward into tomorrow this is what you can expect. a brief wall before the next storm arrives about noon. upper 40s to mid50s. the next storm brings downpours and a foot of snow. we will do hour by hour on what you can expect by the forecast. sergio is live in san francisco with more on how the rain was quite the inconvenience. sergio? >> right now the inconvenience may be for people walking around in the morning. there are lots of streets with pools and standing water and this intersection seems to be the worse we have found so far. it is the corner of howard and first street. you can see i am still on the sidewalk here.

i am not even in the street where it is even deeper. some cars sped through this massive pool on the corner of hour and first streets. drivers not realizing how deep the water is. a stopped up storm gutter triggered this deep puddle on the street. the soaking slowed the bay area to a crawl. >> it slowed everything down. it just rains for a few hours. >> standing water on i-80 into the city from the bay bridge helped cause a major back up for most of the afternoon. there are plenty of fender benders. >> it is pretty bad. >> even with the con constant rain there is less than a week to go before christmas so shoppers barely skipped a beat. >> i work in retail so it has definitely slowed down traffic. it is the holidays and a lot of people are shopping. it is a positive sign for sure. >> it is not a windy, cold

>> air traffic controllers had earlier warned the pilot of poor weather ahead. after the call the plane vanished from radar. >> a scary situation for richmond residents after they diffused a homemade eke plows sigh device. police received a tip that william chelly was planning to harm the muslim community. abc7 news reporter in the newsroom with the story. >> he is charged as terrorist threats. richmond police called in police as residents were asked to leave the area. >> there are signs of christmas along mcbride avenue. people preparing for the holiday say they have no idea one of their neighbors was preparing for something else. >> richmond pd received a report that a resident on this block planned to harm the

muslim community and that the suspect had possibly made an explosive device. he saw police arrest a man at this home. >> they busted the door down. they had the squad and the helicopter. >> the walnut police department's bomb squad helped to explode the device. they did it in the yard. >> watch out. >> they say they stuck around richmond pd asked residents to leave their home. the device was detonated by 6:00 p.m. richmond pd says no other devices were found in the home. nobody was injured. residents were allowed back in their homes tonight. >> it is crazy. abc7 news. >> police are asking for the public's help looking for this man. they say he forced his way in this morning. the residents were sleeping

when they saw the man in the bedroom. one of them screamed and ran off. surveillance video from the apartment was trying to get into several apartments. >> they identified the man who drowned after crashing his suv into the oakland estuary. a fire and rescue swimmer pulled hart out of the vehicle that sunk 15 feet. hart was speeding through the parking lot and crashed through the railing and ploppinged into the water. still to come on abc7 news at 11:00, movie history. the new record set by "star wars" and the surprise some movie theaters got in the big apple. and surfers may have been looking for the perfect wave, but it was far from the ocean. and donald trump fires back after hillary clinton accuses him of help

petaluma and all of the bay area, this is abc7 news. >> starting tomorrow, if you own a drone or any model aircraft that weighs a half a pound it must be registered with the f.a.a. the government wants greater accountability and responsibility for pilots. it cost $5 to sign up and registration is free for the first 30 days. owners provide their name, address, e-mail and credit card information on-line. the government then gives you a tracking number to clearly display on the aircraft. parents will need to register for kids 13 and younger. no surprise there is nothing stronger in the box office than the force at least this weekend. awakens" is the biggest north american debut of all times. it blew past the previous record of $208 million set this summer by "jurassic world." disney which owns the "star wars" franchise is the parent company of abc7. here is a nice surprise for "star wars" fans. the actor who plays finn stopped by a few theaters last night. he says he was in the area and he thanked the fans for their support. the winningest surfer of all time created the best man made wave ever. kelly slater released video of his wave pool project on friday and it is all the buzz among surfer in san thank you cruz. here is reaction. >> reporter: the location is a secret. kelly slater will only reveal it is 110 miles inland.

south of south san francisco and that's light showers. really some isolated showers at this hour as well. oakland and san jose where we had the light showers moving in at this hour. santa rosa is checking in at 49 degrees. as we go overnight and to the morning hours we will start to track the tail end of the moisture by 6:00, 7:00. it looks like we get a break in the rain. overcast skies. our next storm will quickly move in. a live look from the exploratorium. they are shaw rowedded in cloud -- shrouded in cloud cover. there is that brief break in the moisture. but the light rain returns by lunchtime hour. and then we are tracking steady rain and downpours through your monday afternoon. future weather, here comes the next storm arriving at 3:00 on monday. widespread light rain with downpours in the afternoon and the evening. by 11:00 it is a slow-moving

system. we are tracking rain across the bay area. something we are noticing, this next storm may favor some of the downpours in the south bay where today you pick up minimal if any rainfall. that's when we will still track some light showers tapering to overcast skies. this storm tomorrow into tuesday morning will be a two. we'll have the downpours and some of the wettest spots are picking up over an inch of rainfall. this will be a pretty good soaking as we go through the next 24 to 36 hours. likely an inch or more in oakland. even san jose .80 of an inch. a quarter to three quarters is likely there. we are also talking about significant snow in the sierra. a winter storm warning will go into affect tomorrow morning and lasting through tuesday morning. above 7,000 feet. you can see as much as three feet of new snow below 7,000

feet between four and 12 inches of snow. either way this will make difficult travel monday night into few morning. look at the future snowfall totals. 29 inches in donner and 35 inches of snow in kirkwood and even south lake tahoe looking at two feet of new snow by tuesday, month. tuesday morning. on and off light showers. the temperatures are holding steady in the mid40s to the lower 50s. and then for your monday the temporary lull is first thing tomorrow morning and then the rain comes back with the downpours. it is a cool day. midto upper 50s. the accu-weather seven-day forecast shows a two on the impact storm. a lippingerring shower and then christmas eve is our next storm. it is a one, just scattered showers on our storm impact scale. now christmas day the storm gets out of here and we look dry. that continues for saturday and sunday. >> until the next one.

three times. >> they are interviewing the woman trying to find out why she did it and they are taking blood samples to see if she was under the influence of anything. police ruled out terrorism. the strip could be closed until sometime tomorrow. a family from gilroy died in a crash near bakersfield. the plane took off from the reid hill view area in san jose yesterday and disappeared from radar. authorities found the wreckage in an orchard last night. just when you thought it was over another storm is headed to the bay area. live doppler hd is tracking it and more rain will fall starting tomorrow afternoon. our meteorologist will bring the time line in a few minutes. donald trump is under attack. he took aim at the front runner in last night's debate. trump fired back. abc news reporter devon dwyer

the injured man was flown to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. the young scouts were rescued unharmed. >> shocked because we hike here all the time. >> bear sightings are common. >> any day i can see one, three or five. >> it is the second attack in this area in just over a year. a college student was killed by a black bear about 20 minutes from here. the surging bear population and close encounters like this one outside an elementary school aave prompted controversial bear hunts. protesters say there are more humane ways to control bears. sunday's attack was a day after they ended an official black bear hunt. 510 bears were killed over 10 day. abc news, new york. in china rescuers are looking for 91 people missing after a landslide. the slide buried dozens of buildings yesterday in an industrial park in the southern city of shingin across the border from hong kong. an area the size of 13 and a half football fields are

covered in 20 feet of mud. 900 people were evacuated. the mother of the uh flew wean swraw teenager wanted for parole violation is put on a missing person's list. that makes her part of the investigation into the search for ethan couch. they issued a wanted poster for the 18-year-old on friday and offering a $5,000 reward in exchange for couch's whereabouts. couch was convicted of manslaughter and he did not get jail time. instead he was given 10 years probation. a punishment that critics say was a slap on the wrist. a lottery official is accused of hacking computers so they would pick his winning numbers. this surveillance video shows him in disguise buying a ticket in iowa that won $16.5 million. he is a former security director at the multi state lottery association. he earned millions of dollars and that 3r0789ed authorities to take a closer look at lotteries in 37 states across the country.
