this sad scene from mi this sad scene from miami. five people killed after a driver sped the wrong way on the interstate. authorities say the 23-year-old california woman sideswiped one vehicle, then hit another one he head-on, killing all four people in that car and herself. three family members were among the victims. police are trying to find out why the woman was driving the wrong way. at least 21 passengers injured after severe turbulence hit an air canada flight from shanghai to toronto.

the flight was diverted to calgary so the injured could be treated. among those hurt three children. paramedics med the jumbo jet as it landed. more than a dozen were take it on nearby hospitals. one passenger described the ordeal as hellish. >> it was just like the in the roller coaster, the plane was just go down like very straight like go down. and lots of screaming. >> luckily, no one was seriously injured and most were treated for neck and back injuries. there were 332 passengers along with 19 crew members. now to alaska and new details after that deadly small plane crash that took place in anchorage that killed the pilot. >> investigators are say he may have intentionally slammed the plane into his wife's office building. abc's david kerley has the latest. >> this fiery crash into an office building >> just total shock. you don't think that could happen in downtown anchorage. >> reporter: -- stunned

residents. but was it an accident? the fbi leading the investigation is saying very little tonight. but as crews removed the wreckage of the small cessna, some unusual clues or coincidences. the pilot, doug demarest, a member of the civil air patrol, which is an auxiliary of the u.s. air force, took the plane around 6:00 in the morning without authorization. and he struck the building, where his wife, katherine demarest, works as a lawyer. she was not in the building at the time. from the damage, it appears the plane flew in from the west, hit that first building where the wife works, then crashed into a second building, bursting into flames. also, neighbors say police and medics were at the couple's home the night before the crash. authorities say no one was taken to the hospital, and no crime had been committed. an aviation investigator is quoted as saying evidence warranted bringing in the fbi, but no one is saying what that evidence is. david kerley, abc news, washington. next to a major hollywood snub. >> and finding two new voices for the "finding nemo" sequel.

the hospital. no one seriously injured. there were 332 passengers on board the jumbo jet along with 19 crew members. the friend of one of the shooters in the san bernardino massacre has been indicted on federal terror charges. those charges against enrique marquez include conspiring in a pair of previously planned attacks and making false statements when he bought the guns used in the shootings. he is being held in federal custody without bond. prosecutors say the woman accused of intentionally plowing her car into a crowd on the las vegas strip had pot in her system. it's unlikely the woman will be charged with driving under the influence. one person was killed and dozens others injured 11 days ago. holloway is facing murder and child endangerment charges. the texas affluenza teen has been moved to an immigration city now in mexico city. a judge delayed the deportation hearing for ethan couch for three days. it could take several weeks before the case is resolved.

couch's mother is being returned to the u.s. where she could face serious charges. >> we certainly will push to have her prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. >> the mother and son had been the subject of an intense international manhunt since they disappeared earlier this month. caitlyn jenner settled a lawsuit in connection with a fatal traffic accident last february. jessica steindorf was driving one of the four cars involved in the accident. terms of the settle want to be paid by jenner's insurance company were not disclosed. she still faces two other lawsuits as a result of the accident. >> he's gone from america's favorite dad to criminal suspect. bill cosby facing felony charges for sexual abuse. he's been accused before but those were civil suits settled out of court. this time he's facing criminal jail time. the latest from abc's ryan smith. >> reporter: a frail bill cosby walking into a criminal court. the once venerated comedian appearing before a pennsylvania judge to face a charge of aggravated indecent assault of

this woman -- andrea constand. >> these charges stem from a sexual assault that took place on an evening in early 2004 at mr. cosby's home in cheltenham township, montgomery county. >> reporter: cosby met constand through her job with the temple university basketball team. court documents say he gave her three blue pills he claimed were "herbal," saying they would "make her feel good and take the edge off", calling them "three friends to help her relax" and asked her to "taste the wine." within minutes, "she began experiencing blurred vision and difficulty speaking." cosby then telling her to lie down, according to the criminal complaint, and assaulted her while she remained "frozen" and "paralyzed." criminal charges were not filed at the time. constand later filed a civil suit against cosby. but that ended in a confidential settlement. depositions from that case were unsealed this past july. there, cosby insists the pills

were "benadryl," describing the encounter with constand as "consensual." still, it was those depositions that led prosecutors to now file criminal charges. >> reopening this case was our duty. >> reporter: authorities in pennsylvania brought the felony charge as the 12-year statute of limitations will run out next month. lawyers for other accusers hope this will help their cases, as well. more than 50 women have accused bill cosby of sexual assault, drugging or rape which he has consistently denied. >> this is a stunning development. clearly now, they believe they have new evidence and new ammunition that they think can convict bill cosby. >> reporter: cosby was released on $1 million bail. his mugshot was taken, he was fingerprinted, had to surrender his passport and was ordered not to contact the victim. cosby's lawyers releasing a statement to abc news saying, "make no mistake, we intend to mount a vigorous defense against this unjustified charge. >> the judge ended cosby's court

may suddenly feel vindicated. >> now, it's time for him to be sorry. >> reporter: it was andrea constand's case that prompted 13 other women to come forward to her attorneys with their own allegations of sexual assault, offering to testify on her behalf. now prosecutors could turn to those accusers to strengthen their criminal case. since their cases were never prosecuted, pennsylvania law allows them to testify as witnesses in a sexual assault case. in a deposition for constand's case released over the summer, when cosby was asked if he used quaaludes to illicit consensual sex in the past, he said yes. and since then, the number of women accusing cosby of sexual assault, drugging or rape has risen to more than 50. the 78-year-old has long denied the allegations. >> i have been in this business 52 years, and i have never seen anything like this. >> reporter: earlier this month, the man once regarded as america's favorite dad fought back filing a counter suit against seven of his accusers who had filed defamation suits against him. >> we are taking steps in order

to right a wrong. >> reporter: the statute of limitations for pressing criminal charges has expired for several of the accusers but several civil suits are in the works. this hotel was where he was deposed in the constand case. several alleged victims are hopeful the prosecutors will be able to use that case to put cosby behind bars. linsey davis, abc news, philadelphia. the friend of one of the shooters in the san bernardino massacre has been indicted on federal terror charges. those charges against enrique marquez include conspiring in previously planned attacks and making false statements when he bought the guns used in the shootings. he's being held in federal custody without bond. authorities in turkey say foiled a plot by isis in the capital city of ankara. police found suicide vests armed with bombs during a raid on a home there.

two suspects are in custody. new years fireworks have been canceled in belgium over fears about terrorism. earlier in the week, police arrested two people suspected of planning attacks in brussels during the holiday. police found isis propaganda during their investigation of the two men. >> troubles in the sky as turbulence hits an air canada flight heading from shanghai to toronto. at least 21 passengers were injured. the flight was diverted to calgary so the injured could be treated. more than a dozen people were taken to hospitals but no one was seriously hurt. there were 332 passengers on the jet along with 19 crew members. now to the flooding in the midwest which has killed more than 20 people. mississippi and other rivers expected to crest today but there's widespread damage already. major highways are closed. many people have been told to evacuate. it's the worst flooding since 1993, but that was in the summer.

the college football season started over labor day weekend, and it is now the morning of new year's eve and the season's final acts are about to play out. so here to talk about the big games coming up today and all jacked up is jack sheehan. jack, what's going on, man. >> what is going on is year number two of the college football playoff. let's get into it. the nation's number one team, clemson, the clemson tigers. last time we saw clemson, they were beating up on the university of north carolina in the acc title game. clemson's got the nation's longest win streak, kendis. 16 games led by heisman finalist deshaun watson, the quarterback, not to mention coach dabo swinney. he's a colorful character. clemson never trailed in a game in the fourth quarter this year. they might need all four quarters because they're taking on oklahoma, the oklahoma sooners. last time out, they absolutely destroyed oklahoma state.

>> reporter: -- stunned residents. but was it an accident? the fbi leading the investigation is saying very little tonight. but as crews removed the wreckage of the small cessna, some unusual clues or coincidences. the pilot, doug demarest, a member of the civil air patrol, which is an auxiliary of the u.s. air force, took the plane around 6:00 in the morning without authorization. and he struck the building, where his wife, katherine demarest, works as a lawyer. she was not in the building at the time. from the damage, it appears the plane flew in from the west, hit that first building where the wife works, then crashed into a second building, bursting into flames. also, neighbors say police and medics were at the couple's home the night before the crash. authorities say no one was taken to the hospital, and no crime had been committed. an aviation investigator is quoted as saying evidence warranted bringing in the fbi, but no one is saying what that evidence is. david kerley, abc news, washington. next to a major hollywood snub. >> and finding two new voices
