>> good morning. i'm cornell bernard in for carroll line tyler. it's sunday, january 3rd. let's start with a quick look at the weather. here's meteorologist lisa argen. >> good morning. we have the clouds and some of the rain overlaid here. a lot of this activity looks for impressive than what it is. you see the showers moving to the coast but it will take some time to get here. we are cloudy and milder and we have coastal showers developing throughout the day. but it will be really until the overnight hours when the first system pushes on through. this is number one. it's moving on through sunday, into monday. this is the bigger system. several systems behind that for the week ahead. 46 hayward, 45 fremont.

were fierce. >> a 15 knots. a little rough. >> the captain radioed for help before running aground. both men made it to safety. park rangers say bay waters can be treacherous. >> you can think about -- it's easy to think about the waves. this is when we normally have most of our problems. even though it's an outgoing tide, the vessel was being blown into shore. >> the vessel probably ran out of gas. officials will monitor the boat for any changes. meantime the fishing trip wasn't a total loss. >> i did catch one fish, and he saved it. >> they will try to remove it today from the rocks during high tide at 7:00 this morning. a woman was caught in a crossfire in richmond.

this is where it happened at 23rd street and cutting boulevard around 6:15 last night. two women were driving through when someone hit the driver in the neck. she's identified of clair guggen of about berkeley. >> i heard six fires shot. and then the collision. as soon as i heard the shots, i ducked. >>duggen is in the hospital with critical injuries. >> there was an accident on east read and south seventh street after 7:00 p.m.. the two cars were driving in opposite direction and bicyclist reportedly ran a red light. drugs and control do not appear to have played a part in the accident. a hit-and-run accident in san francisco closed mission street for about a few hours. 4th and mission a car was

overturned the driver took off running. they were eventually arrested inside blooming department store. no one else was injured. >> some felt duped after renting out their house on air b&b. there was damage and a lesson learned catch the huge party the teenager threw. >> the house on santa clara avenue is her pride and joy, and this is cell phone video of her with police after her home was trashed. >> beer cans and broken glass and stuff in the house and cigarettes. >> the he presented her open home on air b&b to what she thought was an older man from chicago for new year's eve. it really went to a teenager who through a rager for his 18th birthday. 200 kids were all over the house

helped out, even the somalis. we really appreciate it. >> firefighters said it was just a matter of doing the right thing, helping a family in need get back on their feet. a water company said broken bolts on a valve is blamed for flooding in one neighborhood. take a look. hundreds of gallons of water gushing here yesterday morning. it was taken a member of our abc7 new community. water did not enter any homes in the area, but water did back up into a driveway. >> this morning we woke up and the whole street was flooded. >> i've been out here since 7:00. i took a break and came out. i cleaned my next door neighbor's yard, as well. >> a about. c news was there as crews fixed the problem. the water department capped the leak around noon. when you see news where you live, take a photo or video and share it with us using the #

stadium last week. there's a new push to shut down a popular sports website. the two companies are being sued, accused of illegal gambling. if the new attempts succeeds, it could mean that many who bet big could get their money back. >> a setback for two giants of daily fantasy sports. if you played fan duel or draftkings in new york, you may be entitled to get your money back. those sites reportedly taking in more than $200 million in entry fees from at least 600,000 customers here in 2015. in a lawsuit snyder man is also asking those companies to pay a fine of up to $5,000 per case. >> i've deposited a total of $35 on fan duel and won over $2 million. >> they are say cueing the companies of misrepresenting the

survey of the busy thoroughfare. it used light technology and ranging or lidar for short. it's to create better detail design work for the market and the corridor. the technology picks up on every detail, including buildings, light poles, sidewalks and other street features. some major changes are coming tomorrow for those who commute over the golden gate bridge. current evening rush hour isn't working well, the plan, that is. starting tomorrow crews will change the lane configuration of the bridge only twice a week rather than every other day. this is what you can expect on thursday and fridays. four lanes north, two lanes south. on monday, tuesday, wednesday, three lanes south and three lanes north. officials hope this will alleviate congestion during peak hours. a good way to get the commute

going on those days. rain is coming later this afternoon, right? >> yes, and this and just the beginning. it's our weakest system. it's a number 1 on the storm impact scale. and several number 2s and maybe we will bump it up to number 3 by the middle of the week. many things going on, but it's about time. live doppler hd showing a band of rain showers offshore. this is pushing into some very, very dry air so at the mid-levels we are picking up the green, the rain, but underneath down by the surface it is very dry out there. so looks like we are going to be waiting throughout the day for the rain to fall. as we go further north it looks like just west of cloverdale we have some returns by sea ranch. likely not hitting the ground. we put it in motion and you notice a few flurries around the sierra nevada. it continues to push up into the bay area. but the due points are in the 20s and 30s the past couple of days. it will take a little while to moisten up the lower layers of the atmosphere and for the rain to fall later on this afternoon in the north bay. when it does, it's going to

start out in the coastal hills. so that will be really the heaviest rain for much of the afternoon. 46 in san francisco. oakland, as well. 44 mountain view and san jose, as well as morgan hill. and looking at 55 half moon bay w the southerly winds and the warm sector of the system headed our way, we are pretty mild. sutro low 40s for santa rosa, and just 138 on this panel from novato. low 40s fairfield, concord, and 42 in livermore. so our forecast highlights then starting out with the mild cloudy morning, then rain developing have afternoon. it looks like a very wet week ahead with the break towards the end of the upcoming work week. so as we look at the 5:00 model here, you will notice the rain offshore. then we go through 1:00, it looks like rain pushing into cloverdale, santa rosa. still you are dry in the east bay. san francisco, the south bay. but by dinnertime everyone looks wet. the heaviest rain along the

coast. that's where it should stay. barely getting wet, though, in livermore and antioch. it will take through the overnight hours and by 11:00 you notice it's raining everywhere. the good news is by your monday morning commute, it kind of lets up, just some scattered showers and rainfall amounts with the first weaker system anywhere from about a third of an inch to three quarters of an inch san francisco and along the coast. the heaviest amounts here. as we pick up the next system, monday afternoon, more rain develops. it's kind of light, but by the monday evening commute it gets messy in the overnight hours. heaviest rain this time san francisco, along the santa cruz mountains and the south bay. it will bring in the southerly winds. adding to the rain and by tuesday afternoon we have an inch and a half on top of what we had for the system tomorrow. look what happens by the end of the week. this is about 4 inches. right here we are talking three inches from the central bay and lesser amounts inland. that's about three or four

we are starting this half-hour with a look at the weather. here's meteorologist lisa argen. grab your umbrella, right? >> that's right, cornell. the rain is going to hold off until the afternoon. we do have some returns offshore. it's moving into much dryer air. live doppler 7hd shows the cloud cover. with the cloud cover we are really mild this morning. so you are not going to run into any rain likely until about, say, 1:00 along the coast. and also up into the north bay. so temperatures this morning are ranging from the upper 30s, and a few selected isolated inland valleys. we are looking at 42 in livermore. san jose good morning, 44. napa, as well, with 46. san francisco. and a balmy 55 degrees half moon bay. you are heading out the door, might need a jacket, then we will look for the clouds to be with us all morning long. perhaps an isolated shower. but the main rain moves in early to late afternoon and still looks like concord and livermore and inland valleys won't see it until the evening hours. it will get going overnight. this is the first in the series of storms to hit us.

costs $2700. clinton's last trip to the bay area was in early november. meanwhile republican presidential candidate donald trump is blaming president obama and rival clinton for the creation of isis. he spoke at a campaign rally yesterday in mississippi and said the two democrats are also to blame for the unrest in the middle east. trump claims -- trump's claim comes after isis uses videos of him as a recruitment tool. in recent weeks trump has been more aggressive against clinton and her record leading the state department. >> hopefuls ben carson and bernie sanders are getting ready for their next debate. they will appear to talk about what we can expect in their respective debates. you can catch "this week" with george stephanopoulos at 8:00 this morning on abc7 news. >> this morning president obama is heading back to washington, d.c. after ending his vacation in hawaii. the president's new year's resolution is to take a stand against gun violence.

overnight hours. a few scattered showers into monday and then we will see a series of system right on the heels of this one here. so this is how it ends. kind of paralleling the coast throughout much of the morning hours. 1:00 we see showers from the marin county coast, the san mateo coast. and most of the activity is still offshore. but we could see some mist and drizzle, low level his. but by the dinner hour everyone is wet. barely getting into the east bay valleys but it continues to through the overnight hours. the monday morning commute things look a little quieter throughout the later morning. maybe scattered showers and then it develops all over again with the next heavier system. so rainfall total was the first weak one anywhere from three quarters up. on the coast to half-inch san carlos and belmont and mountain view. the next system comes in with stronger winds and heavier downpours. this is slate today hit the santa cruz mountains, half moon bay, san jose heaviest and the north bay will fair lighter. this is cumulative rainfall
