and debris flows. this could cause, obviously, some problems. i'll be back with a detailed look at the time line of that storm and the next system that follows. >> as we see, the heavy rain flooded the park and ride lot in mill valley where you can see commuters trying to navigate around. they're having a hard time. >> early this morning, you can see drivers on lucky drive. more rain in the forecast, the rest of the week, the roads could get even worses specially during high tide. >> and the promise of a bigger storm on the way. very unnerving for folks in sonoma county. pl mud slides are soaked with rain where it's threatened with safety of an entire neighborhood. wayne friedman is live with the latest on that. >> good afternoon, dan. this has been going only since last week. and, now, getting worse because of the combination of more rain

and already saturated. let me show you some video of what this place looks like. here is the house on monta vista terrace. the retaining wall has collapsed on top of a pick-up truck. this situation, precarious, which explains the red tag in front. the issue isn't just about one house, but access to a neighborhood of 300 homes. here's the fire cheer. >> if it comes here, there's a house rebelow us that could go down. >> so this could knock down a whole neighborhood. >> it could take some houses out, yet. . >> a little bit of a institutional memory. in 1988, he was the fire chief when a mud slide after a large rainstorm destroyed or wrecked 30 different homes. so he's going to be keeping an eye on this one. he has the experience. he's hoping the rains don't put

>> more weather in a few minutes, but let's move on. police are looking for a man who opened fire in downtown oakland today. it was a woman pushing a baby in a stroller. this surveillance video shows a man firing several rounds during an argument with another man on broadway right across from city hall. one of the rounds traveled down the street and hit a woman in the arm. good samaritans helped her inside a fast food restaurant where they applied first aid until help arrived. she's going to be okay. the gunman got away. >> a teenage suspect is now in custody for the shooting death of this young man, 17-year-old torian hughes, the grandson of oakland city council president. police say they've arrested a 15-year-old boy fwr the fatal shooting which happened on december 20th in east oak labd. the suspect's name is not being released because he's a juvenile. so far, police are not saying anything about a possible motive. >> council members are considering requiring all

firearms and ammunition be secured in unattended vehicles. now, all of this comes as president obama today unvailed legislative proposals as well as executive orders to tighten gun laws. >> there was not a plot to take away everybody's guns. you pass a background check, you purchase a firearm. >> the piece of president obama's plan is changing the definition of a gun dealer to make more gun sales subject to background checks. republicans have denounced the president's plan, particularly executive orders which will bypass congress. house speaker paul ryan called it a dangerous level of executive outreach. >> strong reaction in the bay area tonight for president obama's orders from gunshot to gun violence. viek lee is live with more. vick? >> reporter: well, as you can imagine, there is a great divide, i don't think anyone

would disagree that if a law can save just one life, well, that's a good thing. the disagreements are over just what kind of laws. >> just like the president, shawn richard wept when he watched president obama's address nationwide on guns. >> i started crying. tears rolled down my eyes. i thought about my brothers. >> brothers tracy, 20 years old, shot easter sunday, 1995 and gwenta, both victims of gun violence. after that richard created brothers against guns to try to curb street violence. he supports want the president is trying to do. >> like he said, you know, e're not trying to take away your guns. we're just making it harder for folks to get access to the guns. >> michael krausse also saw mr. obama's speech. he's an ex-cop, a licensed gun dealer who owns this antique weapons shop.

scary situation here. icy weather caused a united airlines flight to slide off the runway this morning. no one was hurt. the 737 was headed to denver. passengers were rebooked on other flights. a deputy sheriff is out of jail on $1 million bail tonight. christopher heath was arrested in york, pa pae last week. he works for an antinarcotics task force. but authorities say he and another man drove across the country to deliver more than 120 packages of marijuana to west manheim township in pennsylvania. the pot weighed more than 240

pounds and had a street value of more than $2 million. the e a tip led to their arrest. $11,000 in cash was found along with heath's bang and his work-issued firearm. authorities are now trying to determine if any of the cases he worked had been tainted. >> the city of san francisco is not giving up on efforts to fire a group of police officers. accused of exchanging racist and homophobic texts. city attorney plans to appeal last month's court ruling that found a boy's department could not fire the officers wauz the statute of limitations had expired. the text messages were exchanged in 2011 and '12 and involved racial and homophobic slurs, jokes about killing black people and references to white power. authorities are still shaken up over being burglarized overnight. the young women were jarred awake by two intruders inside a house on south 11th street around 3:30 this morning.

the men wearing hooded sweatshirts ransacked several rooms before getting away. no one was injured and many of the rooms were empty because a lot of the students were away on semester breaks. this is the past couple weeks. on christmas day, burglarers n sacked the home of several students taking computers and presents from underneath the christmas tree. >> a one-room school could be closed in june because of the lack of students but only six in the entire school. parents there are doing what they can to keep union elementary school on redhill road open. abc 7 news reporter has the story of the little school that could and many hopes still can. >> petaluma hills on redfield road. the building looks like something out of little house on the prairie, but, of course, no laws angle here.

gist some clouds behind me. let me show you live doppler 7 hd and we'll talk about that storm impact scale in just a moment. unfordhu gnatly, it's going to come in during your morning commute. right now, we are seeing some pockets of moderate to heavy rain down towards the monteray bay. we take it a little bit closer, highway one, pretty wet right now. and for the regs of the bay area, we're getting a break, like i said. controls in the sierra, all of those leading to tahoe requiring chains. temperatures right now in the 50s, here's a live look from our lake tahoe camera. reporting some light snow right now. so far, the snowfall totals have ranged anywhere from a few inches to about a foot. strong storm arrives early in the morning. rain and windy for your morning commute and areas of flooding are possible. on our storm impact scale from 1-5, this one is going to be a three. so stronger than today's, which was a two.

heaviest rain will be the morning commute. which is why a flash flood watch is up from late tonight through wednesday evening. and you'll notice there's potential for many parts of the bay area to see some small, increased floodings. combination of high tides, runoff could lead to some flooding. wednesday, 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. we do have that price advisory until wednesday, 6:00 p.m. large breakers due to westerly swells, 15-18 feet. here's your time line, tuesday night, 10 p.m., a couple of showers. main storm arrives in the wee hours of the morning. 3:00 a.m. >you'll notice yes, ma'am yellows heavy rain and winds coming through. its's still pret tell stormy. 7 a.m., we will still continue to see some pockets of heavy rain. 9:00 a.m., scattered showers through the afternoon.

could see a rain-snow mix. this storm is deaf knitly going to bring that potential. now, you take a look at the rain totals with this system. and you're going to see up to just over an inch in some parts of the way area. don't be surprised if we see more in the mountains. winter storm warning until 10 p.m. tonight. could see 1-2 feel at the highest peaks. travel delays. we'll likely couldn't with our next storm. let's take a look at that next storm. it's thursday, it's a lighter storm. 1 on our storm impact scale. we're e expecteding generally less than an inch. a spotty shower, not too bad. 5:00 a.m., same thing. you head into the noontime hour and e eel see some pocketings of moderate showers continuing until 3:00 in the afternoon, 5:00 p.m. in the evening. some spotty showers for your thursday. and then it starts to wind down. tomorrow morning, it is going to be nasty for your morning kmuts. if you thought it was bad today,

. one day after the dow's worst start to the year, 2008. the s&p 500 was up sliegtly, tech stocks did not farewell. the index finished down nearly 12 points. well, part of the reason was because of apple.

the company's stock plunged more than 2% today. this came after a report to cut production on its latest iphone by up to 30% some time this quarter. apple's stock has lost 24% as it's now used from last year's high. >> 2015, twitter may soon allow 10,000 character limit. the ceo confirmed this afternoon with a tweet. he says expanding a limit says would have to post screen shots. instead, they would gist post a long tweet. this is what 10,000 characters looks like. a tweet will only show the first 140 characters, though, and users would then have the option of showing the full context. twitters shares had fallen nearly 3% on this news. apparently, investors don't like it. >> the one girl has a secret. coming up, what felt like a very long assembly. >> but it's
