matt, you have not called the surf contest yet, is that right? >> in official contest today but that doesn't mean big wave surfers are not making thai wear to half moon bay. we are at the boat launch and people are ride all the way out there past the whitewater line. a surfer told us they were seeing 40' waves. of course you do not have to be a professional to get wet. >> it is not trait dibble way to get your exercise. people were running along the pacifica shore trying to avoid getting wet in the giant waves. 15-20' high waves of splashing across the beach boulevard. officials closed it to everyone but residents. driving down the road you risked salt water wash. >> people gathered with a fence keeping them from going too far out. they got to see the power of the waves up close.
