>> good morning, everyong. on this saturday, sat 9th. i'm chris nguyen. we are waking up to wet roads across the bay area. let's start with a first look at the forecast with meteorologist lisa argen. >> good morning. san low an degree, 680, walnut creek some showers. around san mateo, the dumbarton bridge and the san mateo bridge, i should say. the wet weather further south, looks at morgan hill and gilroy. not a lot going on. mt. hamilton has some enhanced rainfall. this will continue throughout the morning and afternoon hours in the south bay. as we widen the view, you will

notice that the flow continues in from the pacific, bringing the wet weather along the central coast, as well, and light snow showers in the sierra nevada. so we will look for this to arrive throughout the morning hours, linger into the afternoon hours, and then bring us the cloudy evening commute. so that will make for sort of a gray day. we will talk about temperatures and when our next storm system heads our way coming up. chris. lisa, thank you. the el nino-enhanced weather pattern has closed down threes four areas of the golden gate national recreational area because of dangerous conditions. there are unstable cliffs. the storms have also caused organizers to postpone the san francisco to boat show until late april. the main entrance to yosemite natural rock remains closed because of a rockslide on highway 140.

crews are working to clear it,which could take self days. then they have to repair the date. there's no date for the road to reopen. the park itself is still open, but there is a three hour drive through the snow to get to the entrance on the south side. all drivers must carry chains. a reminder, when you see news and weather happening where you live, take a photo or video and share it with us using the #abc7now. new video, miranda police are asking for your help identifying three suspects wanted are burglary. video from the inside the home shows the burglary taking place. the men broke in wednesday around noon and ransacked the place. investigators have not said what was taken from the home but they ask if anyone has information on the burglary or the sus the expects' identities, to call the police department. now to a story you will only see on abc7 news. there is another questionable death at the santa clara county jail. a convicted child molester, paul eddy pierce, died from a broken

neck after feeling chest pains and falling in the shower on -- at elm wood jail on june 26th. but sources now say the jail didn't call crime scene investigators or the homicide unit. by the time a rookie detective, who had never worked a homicide, arrived, the scene had been cleared up. >> a lack of training and accountability. >> sources inside the jail tell the i-team's dan noyes, they will never know if another impact attacked pierce because of the poor investigation. the sheriff refused to be interviewed. there are new claims against santa clara county. according to our media partner, the san jose mercury news, three claims were filed against the jail yesterday. two mentally ill people and the family of michael tyree, the man allegedly beaten to death by jailers in august, say the

inmates of repeatedly subjected to physical abuse. they come before today's blue ribbon commission meeting which looks at how the jail is republic after the beating incident. they will discuss providers to improve conditions inside the jail. today's meeting starts at 11:00 later this morning in san jose. an east bay special needs school is facing legal action following multiple allegations of student abuse. this video surfaced this week showing a teacher's aide abusing a student at a school in antioch. now the motor of another student is coming forward, saying her son was abused. only on abc7 news that mother sits down with our reporter katie marzullo. >> michelle doesn't want us to identify her young son, but she can describe vividly what happened to him when he was 8 years old. >> his face was red. he slammed my head on the table, and my son made the gesture of slamming the head on the able. >> michelle took this picture of her son's face, took him out of school and filed a police report. that was in 2014. per attorney, peter, has been investigating torbin world ever since. >> from everything i can tell,

torbin world is a horrible place. >> they had reports of abuse and public reports from antioch police show between 2008 and 2014 there were 30 reported episodes of violence between staff and students. >> the children kept communication problems. they can't tell, many of them, what is happening to them or other people. somebody has to speak out for these children. >> this week a teacher's aide was caught on cell phone video hitting a 9-year-old student. a 26-year-old was arrested for felony abuse. she's now out on bail. michelle has seen the video. >> i thought, oh, my god, my son went through the same thing and not only my son but other kids in the classroom. makes me outraged. >> in a statement the founder said we are horrified at the event by our campus and will not tolerate the mistreatment of any child.

michelle's attorney said they will file their lawsuit no later than march. abc7 news. >> a father could face charges after police say he tried to take his child from the mother and quickly board a bart train to escape. it happened just after 4:00 p.m. yesterday, causing delays. >> bart originally tweeted it was a possible kidnapping, which alarmed drivers. shortly there after service was restored. >> protesters were at ed lee's inauguration yesterday. >> i solumnly swear -- >> abc7 news was at city hall as the protesters demanded that he fire police chief greg suhr over the police shooting last year. the mayor says he stands behind the chief. in other news presidential candidate hillary clinton raised thousands of dollars at two

want to bring in new riders. they aren't saying what areas it will be in effect. a second sausage recall was hit the south bay this week. sunny sunnyvale based company is recalling pork products because they do not have a label. the usda said the label did not include sheep casings, which can cause reacting in people allergic to sheep proteins. they recalled more than three tons of sausage because it was not inspected. officials say to throw away all recalled products. in an effort to be more transparent, campbell soup will be the first major u.s. food company to list genetically modified organisms on their labels. the fda said they are safe to eat, but opponents say their unnatural characteristics can dangerously spread to non-gmo crops. the cam bells food company is pushing the usda to set federal

standards for labeling because labeling for state by state regulations could be costly. snow has hit palm springs this winter, thanks to storms brought by el nino. this is the first time they have had snow to open the adventure center. it's been a long time sips they saw more than two feet of snow. ski borders and others can rent snowboard equipment that would normally get damaged with less than two feet of snow. >> this is a number 1 on the

storm impactcally. we aren't expecting a whole lot of rain, but between now and this afternoon a couple hundredths to about a quarter inch of rain. that will include the cal roadways and some fog. another system, before you get to work on monday, also will be a number one. but as we take a look at live doppler 7hd, you will notice that the north bay, not much happening now. but it's not over yet. you will still see some scattered showers. you see from middletown and mount st. helena, 80 fairfield, but right over the central bay and parts of the east bay from miranda and down through san leandro. 680, hayward you have some wet weather and toward san ramon. it's quitely scattered. right now a few showers as you head further south around milpitas. i widen the view, and you notice from san jose to watsonville, maybe some light mist and drizzle. a scattered showers. but for the most part the activity is over around mt. hamilton.

we still have rain off the coast and it should be impacting you throughout part of your morning and afternoon. san jose 46. morgan hill. looking at 48 in the city here and some fog as well. be very careful out there. if you don't have the rain, you have some of the fog. and it is creating some visibility issues for sure. 45 in fairfield. 47 in concord and livermore. so from our exploratorium camera you see the raindrops here. morning rain and fog, showers ending later this around. more ranger night tonight into your monday morning commute. so by the next couple of hours, you will notice we still have showers from santa rosa to fremont and even into gilroy, highway 101. 10:00 still wet weather but it's really after lunch we look for this to really break up and what does pop up will be widely scattered. the evening looks dry. how much? not much at all. anywhere from about a tenth out by the delta to nearly that in oakland and san francisco.

outside our studios we picked up already about .07. we are looking at about about a tenth around livermore. always good idea to bring the chains. maybe two inches kirkwood, three inches donner. and the next system it doesn't come in until monday morning. fur planning on getting an early start, it will be a good idea nor your monday morning commute. highway 101 in san francisco and right on through the east bay, 10:00 and through the afternoon. really doesn't want to let up. light showers still a possibility. so with this second system we are add to go the totals and that should bring us up to about a half-inch san francisco, a quarter inch between the two in mountain view and san jose. so rainfall chances in the city ranging from the best really into monday with that other system. today it's just wide by scattered. look at wednesday. wednesday looks a little more impressive. highs today with the clouds and showers, 53 vallejo, 56 fremont,

lafayette and here a little activity. further south from the hart of the bay there, a few scattered showers. but we widen the view from milpitas eastward. in the higher elevations looking at the wet weather, but unfortunately around san jose, sunnyvale and cupertino, not a lot of activity. >> but as i widen the view you notice there's no moisture offshore and it continues to push in to the central coast, northern california. it will get more quitely scattered, and as it does we will see a cloudy afternoon. mile and a half visibility for concord. certainly some obstructions out there. be careful santa rosa and sfo at three miles right now. the forecast for the next several hours calls for the scattered light rain showers, mid-40s to near 50 through noontime. afternoon time things begin to fall apart and we see the clouds. mid-50s today. second system for late in the weekend, we will detail that in a few minutes. chris. >> lisa, thank you. this morning police officers are calling for link lens after a

brazen attack on a philadelphia officer. the suspect admits he shot the officer at short blank range and pledges allegiance to the isis state. we are now learning about the gun he used. >> the chilling video shows the moment of the attack. the gunman, dressed in a white robe, charged toward jesse heartman's police car, his muzzle flashing as he fires off about a dozen rounds. he reaches inside the car request the gun and then runs away. the officer shot multiple times, incredibly manages to radio in. >> i've been shot. i'm bleeding heavily. >> all cars stand by. we have an officer shot. >> this is one of the scariest things i have ever seen. this guy tried to execute the police officer. >> the officer gets out, his wounded left arm dangling. he fires back and hits the attacker at least three times. >> he's hit. >> the bravery he demonstrated

was absolutely remarkable. his will to live undoubtedly saved his life. >> police say the suspect, 30-year-old edward archer, told them he follows ala and pledges allegiance to the islamic state. the gun used in the attack was stolen from a police officer several years ago. >> is it your working assumption this was a deranged gunman or an act of terrorism? >> i don't know. he doesn't come off as deranged, but more so somewhat calculating. i could be wrong about that. we are exploring all the angles. >> investigators with the fbi and the philadelphia p.d. executed search warrants at two addresses associated with the suspect, carting away boxes of evidence. investigators you now combing through the evidence to determine if archer has any real ties to isis. the police officer, jesse, is in fair condition. he's expected to make a full recovery. abc news, philadelphia.

>> we have new details this morning on escaped drug lord el chapo after he was captured yesterday. officials revealed that el chapo are out guzman, made contact with movie producers because he wanted to make an ought biographical film. that helped authorities find his location. last night in an unusual move, authorities allowed cameras in mexico city as marines led him to a military chopper. he's back in the same prison where he escaped from six months ago. mexico's government was criticized last year after he dug an elaborate tunnel under his shower stall for his escape. the u.s. authorities will try to have him extradited. new this morning, president obama reflects on the progress that's been made in the american auto industry. in his weekly address, he discusses how in the last seven years businesses throughout the country have created more than $14 million new jobs. this follows his plan that brought the auto industry back from the verge of collapse. it involved restructures and it

most of the activities a couple hundredths to about a third of an inch. the cal roads and the fog, as chris mentioned. this is 580 and livermore from san ramon and 680. you have had wet weather. and walnut creek, concord, a few light showers. and right over the san mateo and dumbarton bridge. not much going on, fremont either. just a few areas of mit and drizzle. as you head up toward the higher elevations, mt. hamilton, that's certainly where you will have the wet weather. a few scattered showers throughout the afternoon and in the mountains some snow flurries. this will continue on and off. a winter weather advisory through 4:00. it will bring anywhere from just about two to four inches of snow here. so not very much but there is just a little bit more on wait into your monday. a live look outside from our roof camera. wet out there, a little foggy. 50 oakland, mountain view and

san jose. 46. and emeryville camera featuring the cooler temperatures from the north bay and east bay by the delta, 45. 47 for our inland east bay friends around livermore. 47 for you and in santa rosa where you have had the fog. so take it easy out there. there's fog, there's rain. the roadways are wet and the showers will continue on and off throughout the afternoon hours. we will have more rain come late overnight tomorrow night, sunday night, into your monday morning commute that. too is a weak system. so the next few hours will feature more green, more rain through 7:00. very light activity here through fremont, san jose perhaps, into san francisco. 10:00 santa rosa. still a few showers. after the 1:00 hour things begin to fall apart and we aren't going to see much at all through the afternoon. this is 11:00. if you have plans for tonight it looks like the activity will be mainly ended and it will be dry for you. so really amounts will be very,

very light. we picked up .07 here outside the studios. about a tenth from san francisco to okay correspond and maybe a tenth in livermore. the next system picks up here overnight sunday into your monday morning commute. that will allow for some slick roadways. slow going at times. you are still sleep here burks really by about 6:00 the heart of the bay has the shower activity. 8:00 it's mainly in the north bay. but through 10:00, 11:00 and 1:00 in the afternoon, scattered showers through the rest of the bay area. this too is a weak system. we will add on to the tenth we will pick up today, here is 6:00 monday morning and by monday night maybe a quarter inch in the north bay. the next couple systems are weak, but as we go into wednesday that one looks a little more impressive. so that will tack on maybe another half-inch to three quarters up. , as well. the accuweather seven-day forecast featuring the 50s today underneath the clouds, the

scattered showers, and the weak storm system. it will be a mainly dry sunday. monday morning looks wet. tuesday we are dry and the next system coming in on wednesday. so we will watch it for you. things change between now and then. but all in all it's nice to have the breaks. >> you know, you take a look at the forecast and all the rain we are getting and some people think we are okay with the drought. >> no. >> but not even close? >> yeah. >> still conserve. >> yes. >> lisa, thank you. super bowl 50 tickets be around cheap and that means a select few high rollers will be traveling into the bay area in style next month. how local getting ready for the arrivalful hundreds of private jets.
