ton some showers, further south into monterey. we will continue to see this activity become widely scattered throughout the afternoon. we will talk about a couple other systems that head our way throughout the week ahead. the el nino enhanced weather pattern has closed down these four sections of the golden gate national recreation area for the entire winter because of dangerous conditions. at the north beach access trail of fort funston signs tell people to stay away from the unstable cliffs. the storms have caused organizers to postpone the san francisco boat show until late april. the main entrance to yosemite national park remains closed because of a rock slide on highway 140. after that they will have to repair the road. for now there is no estimated day for the road to reopen. the park itself still open but it's a three-hour drive through the snow to get to the other entrance on the south side. officials say all drivers must carry chains. a remainder when you see weather where you live, take a

photo on video and share it with us using the #abc7now. we will show it on our website abc7news.com. to a story you will see only on abc 7 news, we have uncovered another questionable death at the santa clara county jail. paul eddy pierce died from a broken neck after feeling chest pains and falling in the shower on june 26, but sources say the jail did not call crime scene investigators or the crime scene unit and by the time a rookie detective arrived the scene had been cleaned up. >> it's evidence of lack of supervision, training, accountability. >> sources inside the jail tell the i team's dan noise they will never know if another inmate attacked pierce because of a poor investigation. the sheriff reduced to be interviewed. now there are now claims against santa clara county.

three claims were filed against the jail yesterday, two mentally ill people and the family of michael tyree, the man who was allegedly beaten to death in all says the inmates were repeatedly subject to abuse. the commission will discuss procedures to improve conditions inside the jail. today's meeting starts at 11:00 in san jose. an east bay special needs school is facing legal action following multiple allegations of student abuse. this video surfaced this week showing a teacher's aid abusing a student at a school in antioch. another a another of another student was coming forward saying her son was abused. >> reporter: michelle doesn't want us to identify her young son but she is describe vividly what he says happened to him at tobinworld ii in antioch.

>> he bruised my face, slammed my head into the table and my son made the gesture of slamming the head on the table. >> reporter: michelle took this picture of her son's face, took her out of school and filed a police report. that was in 2014. her attorney has been investigating tobinworld ever since. >> from everything i can tell tobinworld is a horrible place. >> reporter: he found in 2013 the livermore school district took all of its students out of tobinworld after reports of abuse and public records from antioch police show between 2008 and 2014 there were 35 reported episodes of violence between staff and students. >> these children have communication problems. they cannot tell many of them what's happening to them or to other people. somebody has to speak out for these children. >> reporter: this week a teacher's aid was caught on cellphone video hitting a 9-year-old student. kamal jot kaur was arrested for felony abuse. she is out on jail.

wear. >> abc 7 news was at city hall as they demanded that the mayor fire police chief greg suhr over the shooting of mario woods last week. they took some of the more disruptive protesters away. mayor lee says he stands behind the chief. democratic presidential candidate hillary clinton raised thousands of dollars at two fundraisers in the bay area last night. abc 7 news was in the innovation lane gar in san francisco as she heads down to palo alto for the second event. people waited in long lines to get in. tickets for the event started at $500 apiece. time is 8:06. raymond "shrimp boy" chow is looking for a long prison trial. yesterday a jury found him guilty of all 162 counts against him. the charges include murder, conspiracy to commit murder and racketeering. the jury took two days to decide he was responsible for the killing of two people, including prominent chinatown businessman

alan lee i don't think. super bowl 50 is one month away. preparations are beginning to take shape in san francisco. this is happening as city leaders raise new questions about how much taxpayers will be on the hook for the celebration. sergio quint in a has more. >> reporter: this massive crane is the first wave of coming installations. more closures will come in two weeks when crews begin building the official super bowl city. >> we are very excited of course it will bring business for us. >> reporter: not everyone is celebrating. the supervisor is concerned about the bill to taxpayers. >> my understanding right now is that the super bowl committee is not paying for any of the 3 to $4 million in costs the city is providing in services for this private corporate party. >> reporter: her multi-million dollar figure is from this memo by the mayor's budget office detailing how much the city expects to shell out for police, fire and transportation costs.

the mayor's spokesperson says the city should recoup that and more. >> we know when tens of thousands of people descend on san francisco to enjoy their activities they will be going to restaurants, purchasing things from small businesses. >> reporter: if san francisco doesn't make back that money the super bowl host committee has pledged $500,000 to offset losses. but that's not the way the city handles other major event like oracle open world or sales force. supervisor kim says those companies pay. >> san francisco is proud to host the super bowl, but the super bowl is one of the wealthiest corporations in the country. they can afford to pay for their own party. >> reporter: she's part of a special city hall hearing scheduled for monday to examine these costs. and here is a closer look at the four main street closures that will take place for super bowl activities in san francisco from january 23rd to february 12th. they include market street at biel and davis to steuart street, steuart street to market to don chee way, howard between

on sutton street. know has hit palm springs this minister. this is the first time in year there that has been enough snow to open the palm springs adventure center. it's been a long time since the area has seen more than 2 feet of snow. skiers and snow borders can rent gear. 8:17. lisa, you're tracking a storm also in the sierra right now. >> yes, this system is spreading a little light snow, winter weather advisory through 4:00 this afternoon for a couple of inches. we have had snow flurries. we are showing what is on the radar now which is some activity, just spotty throughout the bay area. you mainly have clouds and poor visibility from santa rosa to concord but mt. st. heel in a showing showers, further south a little wet view from san rafael to mill valley, also into hercules, it's been wet in

berkeley and concord, your visibility over a mile, the showers at highway 4 making for a slow go there. you will notice from livermore through about mt. hamilton not a lot going on but some mist and drizzle. a lot of low level moisture and it's been about a half inch around the north bay and even south hayward has picked up a quarter of an inch of rain. this is a number one on our storm impact scale meaning it's a very light system and we will continue to see it wind down throughout the afternoon. south lake tahoe a few flurries around blue canyon and south towards bear valley. a couple inches of snow but always a good idea to bring the chains with you if you are headed to the mountains, mount tam, you can see the rain drops, 48. san francisco it's 50 in oakland, 51 mountain view,

half-moon bay a mild 50 degrees. a look from emeryville towards the golden gate bridge you will see 46 novato and fairfield. mainly rain 3:00, 4:00 this morning, now we are in a scattered shower activity but a few peeks of sun in san jose. you still could see a light shower, but otherwise it will become for isolated and widely scattered and by late tomorrow, 3:00 in the morning as we head towards your monday morning commute another weak system heads our way. 10:00 you will notice looks like a lot is going on, but i think this is a lot of low level moisture and it might not all be reaching the ground. so this looks a little more representative with just slight activity right on through 1:00 things begin to wind down, we have a cloudy and cool day on tap. if you're headed out tonight it should be dry. as we had add to the rain totals from those 12 hour totals through 7:00 we are not going to see much more, just a couple hundredths. as we pick up this next computer

animation by 3:00 tomorrow could see light rain here into the 5:00 hour, then we're dry for the bulk of the overnight hours. by 3:00, 4:00 in the morning, that's when the rain gets going, the monday morning commute looks wet through marin, san francisco, by 10:00 spotty isolated showers, the evening commute looks dry. the second system adding to these totals another tenth or so, maybe a quarter of an inch in santa rosa. through monday night we still have just very light amounts from our east bay to the south bay. san francisco a better chance of rain. come wednesday most of us have that better chance on wednesday. lesser amounts the end of the week. underneath the clouds 54 today in concord as well as napa, 56 san mateo. the seven-day forecast the rain changing to showers with that number one on our storm impact scale, a break tomorrow, maybe late day showers, another weak system on monday and wednesday could look a little wetter.

you, i'm chris nguyen. we're starting with a quick look at the weather. here is meteorologist lisa argen tracking the conditions where you live. >> we're looking at the very weak storm system providing a few light showers, fog, poor visibility and as we zoom in from live doppler 7 hd you will notice the rain in novato, highway 101 a few light showers through san raef, mill valley, you have mist and dridel. berkeley a few light showers, we have had rain out towards pleasanton and concord. east of milpitas down through mt. hamilton it's hit or miss and higher elevations are experiencing some of the moisture as well. gilroy and hollister looking at light activity and this will continue on and on throughout the afternoon, mainly off, though, as this continues to wind down. be careful out there, it is slippery. from mt. tam you can also the moisture on the lens. we're looking at temperatures today mainly in the mid and upper 50s with a light shower

american. an east bay dog that may have been tossed from a bridge is back with her owners. bella suffered two broken legs, she now needs expensive surgeries. abc 7 news reporter laura anthony has more on how much those surgeries will cost and who might pay for them. >> reporter: bella is doing well for a young dog with two broken legs after a two week you had a si that began on christmas eve. >> she's good, looks healthy. as long as she's been gone, for a week and a half, two weeks, she looks very healthy besides obviously the two broken legs. >> it was apparent that the dog had injuries. >> reporter: bella was found saturday by a mother and daughter, it appeared she was thrown or tossed from a brentwood overpass. they took her to the contra costa animal shelter, there she was dubbed gracie. on wednesday the dog's owners from oakley were reunited with her but now they can't afford the $12,000 in surgeries that bella needs. >> she has a broken femur which requires surgery, it cannot be

lynch has not played since november 15th recovering from abdominal surgery. we have the chiefs and texans this afternoon on abc 7, that will kick off at 1:15 in the afternoon. have a great weekend, everybody, i'm larry biel. for our viewers just joining us weather wise it's a little chilly out there and rainy, too. >> yes, it is. we've got fog and scattered light rain showers, which really are going to continue very light showers throughout the afternoon. they will be isolated but we will have that mist and drizzle and a damp afternoon. on our storm impact scale we are calling this a number one, which is anywhere from a couple hundredths to a quarter inch of rain. with we've already picked up a half inch around hayward, parts of south hayward have picked up a quarter of an inch. so let's check out live doppler 7 hd. not a lot of green here, some of this is falling underneath the

radar beam. so we will look for a few light showers around napa, 80 the delta and right now could be a little wet as you head over the richmond san rafael bridge. further south around highway 24 we are looking at wet weather, alameda and oakland possibly, san leandro. as we head further inland san ramone and brentwood have seen wet weather. it is very scattered. from morgan hill through gilroy and mt. hamilton it's a little misty and drizzly and we have a few months of snow flurries from blue yan nonto bear canon and kirkwood. you can see the rain drops on the lens. outside our studios it's 48 in san francisco. we have a good deal of fog from santa rosa to concord. be careful. we are taking you over to emeryville where you can see the deck of clouds. 47 santa rosa, 46 novato and upper 40s in concord and

livermore. so in santa cruz it's a gray day and you will see scattered showers throughout the afternoon as well. we have the fog, the scattered showers, i think they are going to linger and they will be very light. we will look for more mist and drizzle throughout the later afternoon hours then we get a break until the next system and that one is a number one on our form impact scale. 10:00 you notice how that model is bringing in showers here and keeps the rain with us through noontime and becomes more widespread but still enough so i want to keep rain in the forecast, it will be a damp afternoon. the evening hours mainly dry and amounts from this morning to this afternoon don't add up to too much. just a couple of hundredths right on through 7:00 tonight. the next system could bring us some showers by 3:00, 4:00 tomorrow afternoon. then we get a break the rest of the evening hours, the overnight hours. by 4:00 a.m. we have rain in the north bay, 6:00 it's a rainy

morning commute for you in the east bay, even on the peninsula and then this shower activity winds down throughout the morning hours, 10:00, 11:00, once again the scattered shout activity. adding to the totals it will bring about .2 between now and monday night. you will notice not very much at all, a tenth in mountain view but better than nothing. the days ahead will feature just a small chance then on tuesday, but a better more organized system will bring higher amounts of rain on wednesday, that's in san francisco and for much of the bay area that forecast follows with a better chance of rain on wednesday. 54 concord, 56 san jose and the accuweather seven-day forecast featuring the weak little system lingering today and some showers late tomorrow. another weak system monday morning to mess up your ride, slow you down. tuesday we're dry and wednesday at this point looking at more robust system. we will fine tune it as it gets closer. >> take it easy on the roadways. super bowl 50 tickets aren't cheap and that means a select

few high rollers will be traveling into the bay area in style next month. jonathan bloom shows us how local airports are getting ready for the arrival of hundreds of private jets. >> reporter: the hayward executive airport sees about 30 flights a day, half of them jets like this one but with the super bowl that's about to change. >> we are preparing for 120 extra aircraft flying to this find. >> reporter: thomas runs the jet center, they provide jewel and services for private jets and they are bracing for a storm. >> we have to my in staff from other locations which we're doubling our normal staff. >> reporter: hayward is one of the airports see a flood of all jets. >> we are told there are thousands of aircraft coming to the bay area. >> they're going to clamp down on where, who and when can be in the air around the venues. >> reporter: it could mean a traffic jam in the sky and on
