that breaking news is from the east bay where a toddler was injured tonight after a terrifying shooting on the interstate 80. now the search is on for the person who opened fire. good evening i'm amma. >> i'm dan. the shooting happened just before 8:00 o'clock tonight off fitzgerald drive in pinole. the toddler was not hit but hurt by broken glass. >> katie is live in pinole with details on what happened tonight. katie? >>reporter: it was a terrifying scene. frantic family arrived here having very narrowly avoided tragedy. this happened around 7:45. the chp says the car was going east on 80 near the fitzgerald drive exit when out of nowhere gunfire. %3 at least one bullet hit the car and get this it enter the

car through the passenger's window on the right. went off the driver's side head rest and out the other passenger window. 5 people inside the car, 3 of them children under 10 and no one was hit by that bullet. the chp sergeant operate scene says it is miraculous. but as you mention the 2-year-old was hurt cut by broken glass. i talked with an employee at the shell station and described exactly what she saw. >> i saw a car pull up. woman got out rather quickly. very, very, very upset screamed that some one shot he her. at first i thought she meant shot her herself then she started screaming about her children yelling please call the cops. i called the cops and her husband brought in the young egg child who had some minor cuts and blood on his face drew to the broken window. nobody was shot physically but it was very scary and i just want to go home and love my kids. >>reporter: we are told the two-year-old the injuries minor enough that he didn't have to

october of 1982e@. his family says he left their fremont home after an argument with his father. >>tx there was a community searh party that was organized. >>reporter: am neighbor michael bird was part of the search one month later the#z family reported the 14-year-old boy had returned to his house when no one was home. >> he had like baseball card jollections. that kind of thing. that was taken from his room. and some of his clothing apparently was taken, too. >>reporter: danny was considered a runaway. then last summer police in folsom found a man who matched the age progressed picture of danny at able 44. forensic evidence proved it was not him but it triggered fremont police to reopen the cold case and begin investigating the possibility of foul play. >> all day long there was people coming in and out all day with equipment. dogs. cadaver dogs.

earlier in ukiah santa rosa. how much rain do we really need to make up for the deficit and confidential drought and particularly these cities santa rosa you need 89 inches, 89.28 so far only 13.88 inches of rain as you look at san francisco you need more than 55 inches and as we look at the season it's been a measly 9.65 inches. you almost need 6 times as much as you take a look at san jose 37.91 you need and you have only had 6 inches of rain. all the rain that we have been getting definitely welcome and every bit of it counts but i want you to kind of put things in perspective to see how many more years of wet wenter we need to make up for that deficit.]x temperatures right now in the 50's except antioch 49 degrees. live look from the emeryville camera clearly see across the bay. so fog is not an he shall. next storm tomorrow night it's messy for wednesday morning commute and wet pattern holds through the weekend and beyond. storm impact scale incoming storm it's a moderate one.
