looich, from the kgo tv broadcast center, this is abc 7 news. >> good afternoon, everybody. >> another storm is moving through the bay area right now. this is rain from just a short time ago in san francisco. police tweeted out this picture from alamo drive showing a chain reaction accident on those forked roads. fortunately, no one was hurt. >> this is from our emoryville camera. it's cloudy, it's raining, i looked outside from our san francisco studios. it was pouring. >> the rain just keeps oncomi come ing. we've got rain spread across most of the area.

let's look at the heaviest of rain and a line of downpours reaching north eastward. we've got light to moderate up in the delta area here. notice the heavy rain. we've got another area of lighter rain pushing into the north bay right now. storm impact scale which we used to indicate the intensity of storms, we rank storms 1 through 5, numerically. one is a light storm. five is a severe storm. right now, we're in the midst of a storm ranking number one expecteding less than half an inch of rain fall. however, the rain does keep on coming. it will be wet just about everywhere rater in the evening hours. little pockets of showers will follow through the north bay later tonight.

>> i'll have our first look at the weather in just a few minutes. >> the rain hit the north bay first, but it's just a drop in the bucket for the drought. >> the rain is exactly what we need in a drought. these rainstorms are consistent. they're not causing flooding. they're not causing mud slides. but we have a long way to go. >> the beginning of the rainy season, we've accumulated about half of what we need to be full.

>> despite the steady storms, if drout is not a local phenomenon. just because the reservoirs flare up, disappearing ground water remains this season. >> the way ground water gets into the ground provides water for aquifers that can take years for what we've withdrawn out of it to actually get back into the ground. >> if you're looking at it now live in petaluma, it's going back into san francisco bay, eventually. even if the reservoirs fill, this is not over because we have the ground water issue to consider. that's going to take a lot longer. this drought is not local. it is state wide. there are regulations that means to cause an end to this drout, you're still going to have to ask for a drink of water in restaurants. >> we have four years of drought to recover from.

so this is going to take a while. however, it does keep getting better for skiers and snow borders in the sirra. the resort has received six inches of new snow over the past 24 hours and more than 19 feet so far this season. >> get your weather forecast on the go and enable push alerts for media notifications and severe weather alerts. >> the 49ers have named chip kelly as their new head coach. >> just like jim harbaugh, he has a tendency to rub people the wrong way.

one of the last remaining ice rinks on the peninsula is closing down. the owners notified workers this week that the ring will shut down at the end of april. the rink has been operating for nearly 60 years. 10,000 people are on the rink each month. >> sad. it's been something that we've had to let sink in. the cost of upkeep just became too expensive. the floor needs to be replaced and fix its refrigeration. that's going to cost more than a million dollars. that store sold dvds right near the cable car turn around. that's likely going to be a highly attractive spot for national retailers.

sales from year-to-year. one dealer refused to report $20,000. refusing to deny all of these allegations. the dealers filed suit because they have failed to meet their sales obligations. nobody likes those pesky $3 atm fees kpept maybe the banks. well, wells fargo raked in $6 billion in overdraft and atm fees in 2015. it was the first year banks were required to release those figures. by law, banks cannot charge you overdraft fees unless you opt in for overdraft protection. however, studies show most customers don't know they opted in. not only that, fees can be higher than the purchase, overdraft fees average $34 for cash withdraws averaging just $24.
