security threat. >> janet oh joins us live with the story. janet? >> reporter: the state senator, steven glazer says bart has been making bad decisions for a long time, but he is surprised nothing is being done about this. >> it's unfortunate and outrageous. >> strong words from state senator steven glasier after last saturday's fatal shooting that put bart security, or lack therefore, back in the spotlight. bart released photos of the suspect, accused of firing multiple times, killing a bart passenger on a train at the west oakland station. that victim has been identified as 19-year-old carlos romero. police do admit not all cameras are real, and others don't always work. >> security is not a joke.

now and suspects it to be added as early as september. critics question why it's taking so long. in the east bay, janet oh, abc7 news. >> warriors will not be moving to san francisco for the 2018 season as planned. the team announced it is delaying the move from oakland until 2019, citing recent litigation filed by arena opponents. last week a group filed suit, claiming city officials ignored environmental laws and failed to address issues like traffic and noise. in a statement, the group says, quote, we hope the city will use this delay to select a better site that will avoid further gridlock. >> new at 6:00, the state is ordering reforms at the tobin world two school after accusations of abuse. every employee must receive training every year on how to report child abuse. the school must develop a positive behavior training program for staff.

that is the case and we'll have the story at 6:30. changing times in san jose. police chief is stepping down to make way for a new leadership. today was his last day on the job. abc7 news reporter chris nguyen has more on what he plans to do next. after 30 years of service, police chief larry escovel spent the day saying goodbye. >> i have done my time. change is good. i feel good about that. >> the chief walked these haulz for a final time, he's proud of the work he's done, despite the challenges including difficult negotiations between the police union and city hall over pension and benefits. making the chief's three-year tenure tough. >> we can do better and we will at some point when we have more officers. just being part of the solution, but we're very fortunate. i'm going to miss that. >> reporter: perhaps the hardest moment of all, the shooting

two weeks. sunday, the walmart on edge water drive will close permanently. that store is less than three miles from a walmart store in san leandro. >> eric thomas joins us live with a look at the impact in oakland. eric? >> reporter: and ama, why are they closing 260 stores around the world? walmart says it's closing under pefsh formers and those that don't fit into long term plans. that seems rather vague for people that work, and shop here, it will put up to 400 walmart workers out of a job. >> they won't say it. i think it has something to do with the living wage approved by the residents of oakland. >> reporter: employees worry about the effect it will have on business. >> we get sales here. >> reporter: workers say they were told not to talk to the

million. the venture has also signed h & m to be an anchor store of the mall. the new owners intend to spend $15 million in renovations. it's been a nail biting year for those in the stock market but there are investors on the peninsula that may be more savvy than real life traders. vic lee met them today when the market took a dive. >> this stock club at the middle school. >> i wanted math to be real for students. >> the young capitolists moving their money. >> small stocks can create a lot, or lose a lot. >> for them, it worked. they made $50,000 from the make believe investment. all this in just 12 weeks. that is good enough to win the

the north bay and down through san francisco, south bay and east bay, in the mid morning hours, then, we'll see rain breaking into showers but will be a wet day for most of the bay area for most of the day tomorrow. and the next storm will produce 1 to 2 inches of rainfall with high surf and gusty winds. notice an area of rainfall sweeping across the north bay by 7:00. this is going to move south ward slowly and it will take us until 6:00 for that most intense area of rainfall to reach san francisco in the golden gate. it will push south ward sunday into early monday morning. and on monday, will be wet, still, across the bay area.

consumer be proactive. now, let me give you a starting point. the news about the air bag recall keeps getting worse, more recalls, more deaths. 19 million cars, 23 million air bags and now, nine confirmed deaths. and still, most of the cars have not been fixed. recalls of the air bags, have you heard about that? >> no. i haven't. >> i have heard that in the press. yes. yeah. just a little bit. >> as news of the recall has receded, so has consumer knowledge and concern. that is troublesome because this is a case where time does not heal wounds. >> it seems to be over time these air bags get more dangerous. so if you have an older model, it's important to contact the dealership and get the recall performed. >> he says consumers should check to see if the cars are part of the recall, and then, contact the dealership.
