. honking horns and i'm yelling. >> witnesses describe the scene when a tour bus in san francisco hit and killed a man. i'm eric thomas. we begin with developing news on the accident. we arrived shortly after the collision at divisadero and post street and has a witness interview. >> reporter: i want to tell you, within the last half hour, tow truck arrived and has cleared the tour bus. this is the intersection. the person crossing the street was likely on the curbside of the bus so as the bus turned right, keep in mind that the

driver is on the right side of the bus. they sit like a european vehicle on the right side of the bus, and this is san francisco's first pedestrian fatility of 2016. >> the bus is almost about to hit him. he start banging on the window. >> this witness describes the terrifying final moments of an elderly man's life as a tour bus driver strikes and kills him. >> there's the bus kept going. i saul the guy step into the bus, being dragged. i'm yelling, stop, stop, stop. >> reporter: he says the man crossed the street while the bus heading north on divisadero made a right-hand turn on post. the driver is on the right side of the bus. the curbside. >> at the point where he is banging on the window, he is on the driver's side. >> early investigation, who had the right away. >> the driver of the san francisco deluxe sightseeing tour bus stopped after the rear tires ran over the man. >> he looked kind of shock. i don't think he knew what happened. >> the tour bus company as well

as the driver are cooperating with our investigation at this time. >> reporter: the collision happened at 1:00 in the afternoon. police have interviewed tour bus riders and witnesses. nobody else was injured. detectives are searching for surveillance video of the intersection. there's a surveillance camera an 0 nearby medical building. >> the medical examiner will identify the man believed to be in his 70s and and release his name when his family has been notified of the death. i spoke with the attorney for the tour bows company. he tells me the driver has been with the company for at least two years and says that all of the driver's tests tests and res are current, as well as safety checks and registration involved with the tour bus. we're checking with the public utilities commission and chp to make sure those registrations are indeed current. live in san francisco. abc7~news. >> today's accident is the third

involving a san francisco tour bus in less than two months. on december 26th, nine people were injured in a tour bus crash on the embarcadero. investigators say the driver of a ford explorer made a sudden turn in front of the bus. then on november 13th a sightseeing bus crashed in ewan union square. the company was cited for mechanical issues. 20 people were hurt in that incident. the bus driver said his brakes failed but police are investigating. other developing story. freedom for san rafael native jason rezaian held captive in iran. he worked for the "washington post" and was sentenced to an unspecified prison term for spying. both the "post" and rezaian deny the accusations. here's the latest developments. >> following secret negotiations for reportedly more than a year, u.s. officials have now confirmed that iran has freed

five u.s. prisoners. four of the prisoners were part of an exchange involving seven iranians held by the united states on sanctions charges. one of the captives include "washington post" journalist jason rezaian, who has been held in an iranian prison on spy charges for almost 18 months. marine veteran ameer hekmati was detained in 2011. accused of espionage and other charges in 2012. christian pastor saeed an den any was arrested on charges of attempting to undermine the iranian government. details of the fourth prisoner are not immediately known. the news of the prisoner's release, major topic on the campaign trail saturday. >> i'm happy they're coming back. i will tell you, it's a disgrace they've been there for so long. it's disgrace. >> we don't know the details of the deal that is bringing them home and it may well be there are some very problematic aspects to this deal. at nights we're giving prayers of thanksgiving that they're

smuggling case and possibly working as a contract agent for the cia. photos of levinson in an orange prison jump suit surfaced in 2011 but iranian officials deny any knowledge of his whereabouts. you may remember flee three u.s. -- uc berkeley hikers held in iran. they were taken into custody on july 31, 2009, for crossing into rain while hiking near the border. short was released 14 months later, fatal and bauer were released after spending two years in prison. fatal sent out this tweet, saying there's nothing, nothing, like the feeling of touching down in ohman after years of captivity in iran. so psyched for these four. world news will have continuing coverage of the prisoner release, that's next at 5:30. just hours after word of the prisoner release, the u.n. nuclear agency says iran has met commitments in landmark nuclear deals with six world powers.

inches of rain in most areas, but we have some cause for flooding concern, here's your forecast. sunday morning, 10:00 in the morning, steadiest of the showers north of the golden gate but the system sinks to the south and by sunday afternoon, most everyone is seeing the drops. we're tracking heavy showers around cloverdale and we'll see waves of heavier rain develop so sunday evening, pockets of yellow, that's steadier rain. another wave of energy will ride along the system and reenergize it sunday and monday, bring us more showers and then quickly taper first thing monday morning. rainfall amounts. we talked about a half inch to as much as two inches of rain so downpours developing tomorrow especially north bay. we'll see some cities over two inches of rain. that's why we have a flashflood watch poweed through -- posted through monday morning nor local bay. there is the potential for localized mudslides and debris
