arrested and charged with unlawful assembly. the chp responded with bolt cutters but a took a while to cut the chains. that caused a big traffic back up. let's go to sky 7 for another shot of the action. we're hearing that only about ten of the group of 40-50 chained themselves to their cars once driving here to the bridge. once they got here, they stopped cars in unison. they had planned to do this, protestors got out, began chaining themselves to their cars at 4:00. first responders were able to open most lanes. we talked to the chp but let's go to a proet wrester called

very inconvenienced. leslie brinkley caught up with some of the frustrated drivers. >> i talked to dozens of drivers who, as you said were frustrated and enraged over the prospect of being stuck on the bridge and exited in the city. it was a mess on the bridge, they said. they described stopping dead in the middle of the span. the people, they said, got out of the cars and milled around and waited and waited. one caterer was late for three deliveries. >> we're supposed to get to the city. on the radio sthe said that they're sitting there, laughing, and a lot of us have work to do. they're not thinking about people that have to work and get somewhere. you know? >> i heard it was a hour delay.

people telling me they were late for work. other people saying they were missing a flight at the airport. reporting live on the embarcadero, abc7 news. >> that is very frustrating. leslie, thank you. let's take a look at sky 7 hd. checking the back up on the bay bridge, that is the mcarthur maze area, you know, 80 over westbound to the bay bridge. >> the question is when will traffic get back to normal? we're joined live by caltrans, thanks for joining us. what is the word when you think traffic will begin to unclog? >> there are still delays and we can expect them to continue because there was such a significant back up. we're doing everything we can to move the traffic along to ensure that there is no further inconvenience than necessary.

you can see a group blocking traffic near bay street mall. >> one question is what will happen to people who stopped traffic? will they go to jail? you may remember a protest similar to today's on black friday. 14 black lives matter demonstrators chained sthechls to trains in west oakland. it forced bart to shut down the tube, stranding protestors for two hours, last month, prosecutors dropped charges when protestors apologized. >> a thousand demonstrators marched through the streets of oakland today as part of the reclaim mlk protest. sky 7 hd shows the demonstration. organizers say dr. king laid ground work for what's happening today with protests. and they note while peacefulness is often acknowledged dr. king was confrontational with his

words and actions. >> a lot of the things he did didn't necessarily make people feel comfortable at the time. in actuality he was faced with a lot of confrontation. >> this was the fourth day of protests in the bay area, spanning 96 hours. >> today, dozens of people got on board the celebration train to make the 54 mile tribute to dr. king. >> this is the 2 time he road the train to honor dr. martin luther king junior. >> he was a man who wanted equal rights and had an important dream. so to all people. >> cal train decided to take on the event after securing some sponsors like pg and e. dozens were given another chance to get on board. >> when i found out it was

happening this year, i made a point to find out how to get tickets, and hear i am. >> the commemorates the march led by dr. king from selma to montgomery, alabama. >> 50 years later, much of the stuff is still going on. it makes me wonder. so i just think about 50 years later, which direction are we going? >> in san francisco, he and others marched as dr. king did on many occasions. their destination, is the art center to take in speeches, protests and concerts. some are disappointed that the message has not been embraced by many people, including some of the ones that attended this event. this afternoon's equal rights demonstration outside reminded people that this is a work in

well. he says witnesses have reported the driver allowed him to clear the crosswalk before making a right turn on to post street. he said for some reason, role returned on the crosswalk to bang on the bus. that is when he believes he was run over. police drugged and alcohol tested the driver a cording to the california public utilities commission, website, san francisco deluxe sight seeing is properly licensed and insured. the tour bus company's attorney tells me he's hoping surveillance video will shed light on the accident. the building's security employees tell me they've been instructed only to release the video to law enforcement. in san francisco, abc7 news. starting today, for the first time in three years, people in pakistan can log on to you tube, some of it. the government added permission after you tube added country specific filters.

you tube has been blocked in pakistan since 2012 since posting a trailer of "innocence of muslims". it led to deadly protests. many people got the day off in honor of dr. martin luther king, junior, others, made it a day on. they built bridges in the community by planting redwood trees. >> it's tough work. >> many rocks. >> but a worthy goal. it takes patience. and precision. in what has become a tradition. >> i'm here with my parents and sisters. we come here every mlk day to help work, and donate our time. >> the timing is no accident. >> dr. king says the most urgent question is what are you doing for others? >> not just for others but with them. >> we can do it together which is something that was a mission
