two people locked themselves to the heavy machinery. this was taken by occupy the farm, as the organization is called. sky 7 hd was over the farm this afternoon. part of the land is being developed into a shopping mall and assisted living center. uc berkeley told us late today this issue has been settled and they're looking forward to construction at this point. with a million people expected in the bay area for super bowl 50, behind the scenes resources are preparing to respond to any emergency. david louie was let into the command center and he's joining us from levi stadium now. >> reporter: the fbi says its mission is to identify and prevent any act of terrorism or to respond if there is one. it's going to be working shoulder to shoulder with many other agencies on a variety

issues. san jose police is one of dozens of agencies training for super bowl 50. in this case, to prepare for an active shooter. the fbi considers that one of the top concerns. >> our number one concern in that regard is the lone offender, that one individual who has an idea bouncing around in his head that he wants to take a gun or a knife or a homemade bomb and wake up that day and launch their attack. >> reporter: multiple agencies will work out of this joint operation center the fbi has set up at a secret location near levi stadium. it's filled with routers, computers and screens and staffed 24-7 by local, state, and federal agencies, analyzing intelligence data and responding to incidents. san jose's elite officers recognize tactic also be different because of the large crowds, as well as the game. >> we're not just concerned with accurately firing at a target

in san francisco have been suspended after taking part in a racist themed party. it happened thursday in and it was walled a wigga party, a mashup of "white" and the n word. it attracted students from five san francisco high schools. the principal says it's not the first time parties have been held. >> i think we're able to shine a light on it and shift the paradigm so that these kinds of really offensive gatherings do not happen, because they're categorically wrong. >> the principal called the incident a teachable moment. just over 3% of the student body is african-american. an indiana truck driver is recovering after being shot last month in oakland. he had picked up a generator in

compton and planned to deliver it to the oakland coliseum but was turned away by security guards and then shot in his truck while sleeping. leeann, unbelievable. >> reporter: yeah, this happened right before the holidays, december 15th. jerry matteson is from indiana, and he's been doing this for 43 years. he will always remember that night and he will never forget the generosity of the people in the bay area. >> for me to get ready of what's going to happen. >> reporter: jerry matteson, a former marine, says he lunged towards the person who broke into his truck when the gun went off. minutes before, he had been sleeping in his truck in oakland. he barely remembers calling 911. >> i said, you better do it quick, because the lights are about to go out. >> reporter: his wife flew in

a new feud is withdrewing between the board of supervisors and the union that represents san francisco police officers over the young man seen shot and killed in this video. the board unanimously approved a resolution remembering mario woods. now the backlash against that is growing. eric thomas is live at city hall with more. eric? >> reporter: supervisors stood by their vote to honor mario woods. but the police officer's association says they're angry and insulted because he was a criminal they were forced to shoot and kill. online, at least one group is taking sides, a petition with 3,000 signatures. it's more than just a roar of words between cops and supervisors. this is an online petition seeking to rescind the resolution that makes july 22 mario woods' day. on tuesday, a unanimous board of supervisors voted to remember and honor 26-year-old mario

woods. he was shot and killed during a standoff with numerous san francisco police officers december 2. >> the recognition is not about mario woods the individual but the need for police reform. >> reporter: but that's not how the police officer's association sees it. they say woods was suspected of stabbing someone and was still holding the knife and refused to put it down. they maintain woods doesn't deserve a memorial. >> they don't have days of remembrance for those people that gave their life in service of the city. that's obviously one of the things weighing on our minds. >> none of us knew there was no day of remembrance for those officers. >> reporter: he says he's now introducing a measure to honor those police officers killed in the line of duty. the shooting of woods has led to a backlash that had protesters interrupting the inauguration of the mayor and calling for the firing of the chief police. supervisors say they were

lobbied hard, almost to the point of intimidation, to reject the woods' resolution. but the union says it's the supervisors being inappropriate. >> the tactic that the union has followed is a tactic that says there is no problem here. and the recognition of a problem is disrespectful to police officers. i respectfully disagree with that. >> the feedback i've got from 100% of the people i've spoken with don't believe it was appropriate. and it definite hi hurts. >> reporter: eric thomas, "abc7 news." owners of roof top solar electricity system also be paying slightly more in fees but not as much as utility companies wanted. new rules were passed to increase the average monthly electricity bill from $82 to $91. you ti solar owners will continue to receive money back for the

but light showers will start to move in later on tonight. in the sierra, it was snowing in tahoe, but it has switched over to rain in the last hour. and right now tahoe is dry, but they are expecting moderate to heavy snow. a winter snow warning until 10:00 a.m. tomorrow. wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour. up to a foot of snow expected at kirkwood by saturday at noon. temperatures really mild in the inland spots, low 60s. today's highs in the north bay, santa rosa in the 50s. that comfortable weather is going away. we do have gray skies and we will be seeing periods of rain in the north bay. rain spreads south on friday and showers taper saturday morning. on our storm impact scale, this is a one. rain on friday will be heaviest in the north bay.

the winds will be light. the surf will remain rough, so be careful if you're heading to the coastline. 7:00 tonight, a few light showers, staying in the north bay around 10:00 p.m. notice for your morning commute, we'll see spotty showers developing in the east bay, san francisco. but light to moderate rain in the north bay. 8:00, a north bay event, but most other areas will see the wet weather friday at 10:00 a.m., it continues at noontime. and then 5:00 p.m., that afternoon rush looks messy. and sliding southward by 8:00 p.m., another band of showers coming through friday night, going into saturday morning. and if you have early plans at 7:00 a.m., a few showers in the forecast. then it winds down before another system comes in. as far as rainfall is concerned, the wettest locations could see up to an inch, but most areas
