currently, which is good. yesterday we had the rain. 52 fremont and san francisco. 48 napa and santa rosa. if you are headed out this morning, maybe some mist and drizzle. by the afternoon necessary we will hold on to the clouds, maybe a few peaks of sun, maybe a shower and lot of super bowl talk in the upcoming days. we will have it for you in a few minutes. tiffany. >> lisa, thank you. in developing news, u.s. marshal are actively searching in san jose this morning for two fugitives who escaped from a southern california jail and authorities are gnarring a $200,000 reward for information read leading to the huge tis' arrest. federal authorities are searching for these two men, johnathan tieu and hossein nayeri. they escaped last week with this man, bac duong. they broke out of the jail last week and they may be on their

way south to fresno. a about. c7 news reporter sergio has the latest. >> the almeda manager didn't want to speak on camera because said he recognized johnathan tieu, the youngest of the fugitives, accused of murder and attempted murder. all three described as extremely dangerous. they stayed in room 14 tuesday and wednesday night and checked out thursday morning. california corrections agents and u.s. marshals are actively canvassing this boulevard, some marshals came here and asking for those people who escaped from jail in southern california. >> the sterling hotel manager said agents were in his office minutes before we got there. >> did you recognize the people? >> yeah. i recognize because i seen always on the tv and newspaper every day. >> had they been guests here? >> oh, no, no. >> investigators say hossein, who faces torture and kidnapping charges, may have connect toss the fresno areas so authorities there have been alerted.

>> there is a possibility they may be destined for that area but nothing specific. we are concerned about the a san jose area at this point. >> the oldest of the three made it back to california and his surrender to police in orange county this morning was caught on video. the others are driving a white cargo van. they stole it after their escape from the orange county jail earlier this week. abc7 news. >> a $5,000 reward is being offered by the fbi for the arrest of whomever burglarized one of their vehicles. the thieves stole three handguns. they also stole an fbi badge and an agent's credentials. mississippi michigan property was taken, as well. the burglary happened in residential neighborhood early yesterday morning. this is the latest theft involving a gun belonging to a federal agent. last year san francisco resident indicate steinle's accused killer used a gun stolen from

in a statement u.c. berkeley said during the past two years we have instituted additional medical screening of student athletes. >> additional training of coaches and conditioning staff, additional oversight of workout plans, and more detailed counseling of student athletes with identified medical conditions. the medical examiner's office initially attributed his death to a heart condition. it's now been changed to reflect his blood trait. the university will know longer contest the lawsuit and will now focus on compensating the family she surf founding the surf line in pacifica raises more fierce of erosion. yesterday a crew worked. up above those living at 310esplana avenue have been ordered out of their apartment. one said the shoreline is

man shot and killed by san francisco police, are planning to march from union square to super bowl city starting at 10:30 a.m. the group continues to demand the firing of san francisco's police chief. >> bart it making some changes this morning because of super bowl week. beginning today. spear street exit from the embarcadero station will be closed. that's the exit that puts you at market and speer. it will be open during the morning commute on weekdays but not week ends. the closer runs through next sunday and the closer is due to safety and crowding considerations. ferry service to and from san francisco is also changing this morning. that's in a good way. both the san francisco bay ferry and the golden gate ferries are expanding their schedule. the bay ferry is adding four round trips to the

almeda-san francisco route and doubling the routes on the vallejo-san francisco routes. larkspur ferries are also adding round trips, all designed to get people to and from super bowl city. and uber is making it easier to get to the city of santa clara for the big game. from now until game day, uber, for the very first time, is expanding their carpool service outside san francisco, and it it will be discounted. uber will provide special drop-off and pickup locations at super bowl city and levi stadium. the trips might be a little longer, but the fares will be significantly lower. well, the actual game at levi stadium in santa clara will get kicked off with a big roar, all courtesy of the u.s. navy's blue angels. they will perform a fly-over in their signature formation after the singing of the national anthem. they are in training in southern

california and this year marks the blue angels 70 agent anniversary. there are super bowl events in the bay area that you will find all here on abc7news.com/sb50. you said we have an interesting forecast for the week ahead and also today. what's in store? >> that's right. we are going to look at a mainly dry pattern for the week ahead. it really looks wet. but we still have lingering showers with this deem plume of moisture finally sinking to the south of us. take a look at the sierra nevada. they are looking at flooding problems near reno. they saw anywhere from four to six inches of rain on the west slope of the sierra. the rest of the mountains have the rain shadow effect. now that the front has moved through, it's changed to snow. looking at a damp, damp system that's finally pushing out. a few lingering showers be around mt. hamilton and

livermore. closer inspection now where you are seeing just a little bit of green on the screen. some mist and drizzle is also a possibility, and we are still looking at a winter form warning until 10:00 for the mountains. finally the snow levels lowered and we are looking at snow now around blue canyon, truckee, the tahoe valley airport. we will continue to watch the snow pile up. but, boy, it was a wet day of it yesterday with over an inch of rain in targets of the north bay. good morning mountain view 53 for you. 52 half moon bay. 50 morgan hill and emeryville we have the damp streets and look at upper 40s santa rosa, napa and low 50s by the delta and concord. it is looking cooler this morning anywhere from a deto five degrees colder. we may see a few breaks in the clouds but also the possibility still exists of a shower today and then more so for the south bay tonight into tomorrow. so cloudy, possible showers, slight chance today and then the chance of rain tomorrow is for points south of san jose,

cupertino into the big sur, central coast area. that's a little unusual but check out the season to date. with over 13 inches of rain, san francisco 102% of normal, 113% of normal for san jose. 104% with nearly the inches of rain and santa rosa nearly 20 inches of rain. doing well in the rain department because we will take a break for the next several days. rest of the da day today may be a spotty shower. you will see them there but overall we will call them mostly cloudy. and then looking at the possibility of still more snow here. 10:00, 6 could 12 inches 7,000 to 8,000 feet and that will allow another five inches to gather kirkwood. fast forward into font. look what happens. the next system, the rain is from the south bay all the way to the south. so that looks like we are going to see just a glancing blow maybe elsewhere but the winds pick up behind that system. if you are headed into san francisco today for all the

festivities, you will see numbers in the 50s for super bowl city. a slight chance of a shower. otherwise it should be mainly dry. highs in the upper 50s for concord and livermore today. and the accuweather seven-day forecast. so that little system just affecting the south bay tomorrow and then we are dry, sunny, with temperatures in the upper 50s all week long. maybe a shower tuesday, wednesday, but overall we aren't going to see really any activity in terms of the weather. so that's kind of works out well. >> it certainly does for all the outdoor super bowl activities. >> yeah. >> thank you, lisa. straight ahead you can forget about that bowl of cereal this morning, instead a bowl of ice cream just in time for the

or large chain restaurants. >> the fed changing rates, the stock market going crazy, what should consumers do? we spoke to some of the top experts who are focused on your money. >> out on the streets of san francisco's financial district, they are aware the fed is raising rates and the stock market is on a wild ride. >> i'm not concerned right now but i'm concerned maybe twelve to eighteen months out. >> really?r >> yeah. >> so do you stay in or get out? >> i'll stay in. i'm a long-term investor. >> so what do you do? i spoke with two of the experts focused on financial information for consumers. let's start with david, a kipplinger economist. >> the fundamentals of the economy are still sound. >> he said the stock market is reacting to it diminishing growth opportunities overseas and the drop in oil prices. but the u.s. economy, he says, is strong. >> i can confidently say we aren't going to have a recession

this year. and i think that will be good for the stock market eventually. >> the chief financial analyst greg slso said the economy is strong. still he doesn't expect the fed to carry through with a full slate of rate hikes. the federal reserve thinks they are going to raise interest rate four more times in 2016. i think that's a little overly optimistic. i see two, maybe three increases. >> even with that, consumers should consider refinancing their mortgages and other loans. >> any variable rate debt you have is going to be an exposure in 2016. in particular credit cards, home equity lines of credit and adjustable rate mortgages. i expect all of those to see rate increases as the year up folds. >> and that brings us back to san francisco's financial district and a wise move we can all make. >> it is what it is. i can't fix it, i can't change it. i just have to save more money. >> it is widely believe believed the stock market is a better place to be than not but remember, there are no guarantees. i'm michael finney, "7 on your

the. >> good saturday morning. here's meteorologist lisa argen. >> good morning. here's live doppler 7hd. you see most of the activity in the sierra nevada. we do have sprinkles and light rain over the east bay this morning and south bay between morgan hill and gilroy. highway 101. watch out for that. also, you can see out toward tracey, 580 and also down through san ramon, the possibility of sprinkles. we've had flooding with over two or three inches in the sierra nevada. but the good news is the rain changed over to snow and we still have a winter storm

warning through 10:00. snowpack doing well and we look for the moisture to wind down in the northern sierra but we are still looking at some chilly temperatures from the north bay, upper 40s here to low 50s. maybe some mist and drizzle if you are out early this morning. but otherwise the forecast is trending dryer and dryer the next several days. possibility of sunshine mixed in with a shower today. we will talk about more rain possibly in the south bay coming up. the tiffany. >> lisa, thank you. santa rosa police have released a sketch of a suspected sexual assault suspect whose alleged victim said he grabbed her chest and tried to pull her into his car. the attack happened early wednesday night on petaluma hill road. the 11-year-old was playing when this man grabbed her and made a lewd comment and the suspect ran away. he's 5 the 1'0", wearing black reading glasses, black pants and

a black hooded jacket. good news for those wanting to enroll in covered california. officials have extended the deadline until next saturday. but there is a big but. you have to begin the process of enrolling by tomorrow to be eligible for the extension. tens of thousands of applicants have flooded the weapon site in recent days. if you don't have health insurance, you could be fined nearly $700. happening today, el~cerrito will honor icon fred korimatsu it's on donald avenue. these are pictures of the school under construction. he made headlines during world war ii when he lent his name to a supreme court lawsuit challenging the legality of the japanese-american internment. today is his day across the

state. and we want to give you a live look now from the visa everywhere cam over super bowl city in downtown san francisco. as i drove by this morning it was very active. people putting on the finishing touches because the free event for football fans opens at 11:00 a.m. today. now some parents and children who live in the area are having a tough time accessing a playground that is smack-dab in the middle of the venue. abc7 news reporter wane freedman has the story. >> it's a quiet neighborhood, but not for long. on the fringe of super bowl city. a place where starting next week the gravity of events will either pull a person in or set him on the run. >> is there anywhere to hide? >> not really. we have to stay in our house. >> that's often issue for adam who worries about noise, crowds, parking and getting his family in and out every day. >> i can't leave. i have two kids in school. >> for neighbors it's the quandary brought on by proximity. nobody asked them if they wanted to have super bowl city next door and now they are dealing

with it. >> it's something we certainly didn't want. there's no benefits where we are. >> and this is a particularly sore spot, the children's playground in the park. there is a playground in the middle of this, next to the stage, behind the signs, discouraging pedestrians. most days it's one of the busiest playgrounds in the city but it's empty now and likely will be next week. if parents want to use it they have to pass through the same security as everyone else. they aren't happy about it. >> is this right? >> no. it's a public park, it should be available and accessible for the public to use unless there's something wrong with it. >> we left a message and we haven't had any phone calls returned. >> the super bowl committee did return our call. safety is our number one priority, our security policies including requiring everyone who centers super bowl city to go

activity really along the central coast and the southern sierra where they could pick up an additional one to two feet in yosemite. this morning, though, the northern sierra looking at the winter storm warning until 10:00. so you can see most of the activity in the mountains. and we are really in between systems as this system winds down. there's another one headed to the south of us. you see a few returns here heren the hills around mt. hamilton.ñ% from 580 out toward livermore and trailscy, a little bit of mist and drizzle there. the main activity here finally changed over to snow. and the flood advisories around reno have been lifted. they picked up a lot of rain yesterday. raining all day it. and early morning hours now we have the snow, and that's why we are looking at a couple of inches that will accumulate here. anywhere totals of 8 to 10 inches, 7,000 to 8,000 feet and that advisory expires about

10:00. this will bring about 5 inches to kirkwood, 2 to 320 south lake and tahoe city. the snowpack doing fine with 118% of normal. in the central sierra 129% in the northern sierra and they are getting more snow in the southern sierra the next day and a half. as we look outside we are looking at dry conditions in san francisco, 51 here, 51 oakland. good morning morgan hill. half moon bay at 52. fog not much of a problem. emeryville a little damp on the roads for you. 48 napa, santa rosa, 50 novato, 51 by the delta. and from our sutro tower camera we see a lot of cloud cover today. possibility of a shower, but most likely we will all stay dry. but then after midnight the rain should get going in the south bay as the system will hit the central coast. so as we look at our season to date, we are looking pretty good in oakland with over 10 inches of rain. 92% of normal. check out santa rosa. nearly 20 inches of rain.

one hundred 5% of normal. nearly 8 inches of rain around mountain view. we want these to be anywhere from about 150% of normal, even maybe 200% of normal to make a dent in our four-year deficit. as we go through the next couple hours, notice we could see some showers around the north bay but overall hook at a mostly cloudy sky for your saturday. and the system to the south tomorrow gets going after midnight. look what happens in the overnight hours. yes, the rain is going to push to the south. as it continues to, the winds pick up. and for the rest of the day today we are in the 50s n the a warm day. we will see more clouds around, possibly a shower. this is for all the super bowl activities in the city. look for 59 in palo alto, 56 vallejo, 57 in napa. the accuweather seven-day forecast, our storm impact scale, a weak one tomorrow. this will be for the south bay. and then looking at sunshine and cool temperatures throughout much of the work week, and by the end of the week it's getting sunnier and milder the so this is our first really dry stretch we've had in a while.

>> and the timing couldn't be better for everything super bowl related? >> right. >> thank you, lisa. and turning now to a story of anger and frustration in the east bay this morning. residents of a west oakland artist colony have just one more day to pack up and move out. the city of oakland has red tagged the old warehouse where they live at 20th and market street. inspectors say the building is unsafe and a public nuisance. abc7 news reporter laura anthony talked to residents who say they have nowhere else to go. >> it's an old warehouse, a bus barn that was converted to live workspaces about 15 years ago. a building that houses about 100 people, mostly artists, who now must pack up and leave by midnight, sunday. >> will you be out by midnight, sunday? >> well, i'll get arrested otherwise. >> carolyn valentine and sam shared their lost with two other people. together they pay about 16 hundred dollars per month. their lost does have issues.
