now it's snowing and we still have a winter storm warning through 10:00. boy, up to a couple feet of snow still expected over the weekend around yosemite. looking at 350's now. good morning fairfield. and novato you are checking in at 50. the rest of the day featuring mostly cloudy skies. the bulk of the day is dry. can't rule out a possible shower. mid-and upper 50s. we will look for more rain possibly tomorrow in the south bay. i'll have the details on that coming up. tiffany. >> lisa, thank you. in developing news, u.s. marshals are actively searching in san jose this morning for two fugitives who escaped from a southern california jail and authorities are now offering a $200,000 reward for information leading to the fugitives' arrests. federal authorities are searching for these two men, johnathan tieu and hossein nayeri. the two fugitives escaped last week with this man, bac duong.

they broke out of the jail last week and they may be on their way south to fresno. they may be on their way south to fresno. abc7 news reporter sergio quintanna has the latest. >> the almeda manager didn't want to speak on camera because said he recognized johnathan tieu, the youngest of the fugitives, accused of murder and attempted murder. all three described as extremely dangerous. they stayed in room 14 tuesday and wednesday night and checked out thursday morning. california corrections agents and u.s. marshals are actively canvassing this boulevard, some >> marshals came here and asking for those people who escaped from jail in southern california. >> the sterling hotel manager said agents were in his office minutes before we got there. >> did you recognize the people? >> yeah. i recognize because i seen always on the tv and newspaper every day. >> had they been guests here? >> oh, no, no. >> investigators say hossein, who faces torture and kidnapping

charges, may have connections to the fresno area, so authorities there have been alerted. >> there is a possibility they may be destined for that area, but nothing specific. we are really concerned about the san jose area at this point. >> the oldest of the three made it back to california, and his surrender to police in orange county this morning was caught on video. the others are believed to be driving a white cargo van. they stole it after their escape from the orange county jail earlier this week. abc7 news. a $5,000 reward is being offered by the fbi for the arrest of whomever burglarized one of their vehicles. the thieves stole three handguns. they also stole an fbi badge and an agent's credentials. put bureau said miscellaneous fbi property was taken, as well. the burglary happened in residential neighborhood early yesterday morning. this is the latest theft involving a gun belonging to a federal agent.

last year san francisco resident kate steinle's accused killer used a gun stolen from a bureau of land management agent. a man and woman who died in a plane crash thursday night were identified. 69-year-old be donald mckenzie and his long time partner. 68-year-old marsha gastroth were killed. the two were on the final approach to the airport when the piper comanche went down. the cause of the crash is under investigation. this morning u.c. berkeley is taking what may be an unprecedented step. the university is now admitting liability in the death of one of its students. he was a member of the cal football team and he died in 2014. he was a walk-on defensive lineman who died after a strenuous workout. cal officials knew he had a sickel cell blood straight that can be deadly under extreme

exertion. the school is now accepting responsibility. in a statement u.c. berkeley said during the past two years we have instituted additional medical screening of student athletes, additional training of coaches and conditioning staff, additional oversight of workout plans, and more detailed counseling of student athletes with identified medical conditions. the medical examiner's office initially attributed his death to a heart condition. the cause of his death has now been changed to reflect the sickel cell straight. the family filed a lawsuit against the university and the university will know longer contest the lawsuit and will instead focus on compensating the family. the surf pounding the shoreline in pacifica raises more fears of erosion. s there is an advicery issued. those living there at

super bowl city opens at the foot of market street. it's free get in. and 7:25 it's the official relighting of the bay bridge lights, followed by fireworks and a performance by chris isaac. we will stream both events, the bridge lighting and fireworks on abc7news.com. another event could affect the crowds at super bowl city this morning. supporters of mario woods, the man shot and killed by san francisco police, are planning to march from union square to super bowl city starting at 10:30 a.m. the group continues to demand the firing of san francisco's police chief. >> bart is making some changes this morning because of super bowl week. beginning today, spear street exit from the embarcadero station will be closed. that's the exit that puts you at market and speer. the speer street exit will be open during the morning commute on weekdays, but not weekends. the closer runs through next sunday and the closer is due to safety and crowding considerations. ferry service to and from

san francisco is also changing this morning. that's in a good way. both the san francisco bay ferry and the golden gate larkspur ferries are expanding their schedule. the bay ferry is adding four round trips to the almeda-san francisco route and doubling the routes on the vallejo-san francisco routes. larkspur ferries are also adding round trips, all designed to get people to and from super bowl city. and uber is making it easied to get to the city of santa clara for the big game. from now until game day, uber, for the very first time, is expanding their carpool service outside san francisco, and it will be discounted.7i uber will provide special drop-off and pickup locations at super bowl city and levi stadium.ñi company officials tell us the trips might be a little longer, but the fares will be significantly lower. well, the actual game at levi stadium in santa clara will get

>> the fed changing rates, the stock market going crazy, what should consumers do? we spoke to some of the top experts who are focused on your money. >> out on the streets of san francisco's financial district, they are aware the fed is raising rates and the stock market is on a wild ride. >> i'm not concerned right now but i'm concerned maybe twelve to eighteen months out. >> really? >> yeah. >> so do you stay in or get out? >> i'll stay in. i'm a long-term investor. >> so what do you do? i spoke with two of the experts focused on financial information for consumers. let's start with david, a kipplinger economist. >> the fundamentals of the economy are still sound. calming right from the start. he said the stock market is reacting to it diminishing growth opportunities overseas and the drop in oil prices. but the u.s. economy, he says, is strong. >> i can confidently say we aren't going to have a recession this year. and i think that will be good for the stock market eventually.

>> the chief financial analyst greg also said the economy is strong. still he doesn't expect the fed to carry through with a full slate of rate hikes. the federal reserve thinks they are going to raise interest rat÷ four more times in 2016. i think that's a little overly optimistic. i see two, maybe three increases. >> even with that, consumers should consider refinancing their mortgages and other loans. >> any variable rate debt you have is going to be an exposure in 2016. in particular credit cards, home equity lines of credit and adjustable rate mortgages. i expect all of those to see rate increases as the year up -- unfolds. >> and that brings us back to san francisco's financial district and a wise move we can all make. >> it is what it is. i can't fix it, i can't change it. i just have to save more money. >> it is widely believed the stock market is a better place to be than not, but remember, there are no guarantees. i'm michael finney, "7 on your side".

fans know their team will remain in oakland next season, but the bay area future is cloudier this morning. abc7 news sports director larry beil has the details in this morning's sports. >> good morning, everybody. raiders owner mike davis was in las vegas yesterday. he might have hit the jackpot in l.a. because of a decision that was made by the chargers. davis met with casino mogul sheldon adelton about an billion dollar proposal in the desert but the nfl doesn't want a team in the gambling capital of the world. but here's the concern. the rams have a chance to move in eaglewood but they are staying in san diego 2016 and they will try to work out a new stadium deal there. the biggest challenge is winning a vote to approve $300 million to $350 million in public financing. the vote requires 66% to pass. an uphill climb, indeed. but if the chargers do not move

showers, but overall mist and drizzle. rain from here but we had flooding in the sierra nevada or close to it around reno. and with the passage of the front, we are looking at snow now in the mountains, which is good news. this fell here and sort of lingered between livermore and tracey and the hills of the upper elevations and westward as we go through guerneville, bodega bay and highway 101 between santa rosa and petaluma could be a little wet for you. overall we are trending dryer except if you are in the mountains until 10:00. a winter storm warning for the northern sierra and then the focus shifts to the central and southern sierra in southern california as the next storm system looks to miss san francisco. but we will be looking at more snow totals south of here. 7,000, 8,000 feet is where the snow is accumulating. so between now and 10:00, looking at an additional five inches in kirkwood. tahoe city at three inches and just an inch or so around blue

canyon. the snowpack looking really good. and by tomorrow we will be well over 100% in the southern sierra. about two feet expected here with this next system. the sap center, you could see more rain tonight into tomorrow but then it should continue to push south of the south bay. 51 san francisco. low 50s mountain view and san jose. upper elevations a little breezy. this is from our east bay hills camera. upper 40s santa rosa and napa. good morning. and sutro, it looks pretty cloudy out there. it will stay cloudy for the bulk of the day. but we are look at just a slight chance of a shower. maybe a few breaks in the overcast. then the main emphasis shifting into the south bay, the southern sierra for the second half of your weekend. a here's today. you notice we still have green on the map. that's a quick-moving shower. but by noontime a lot of clouds around. still could see a light sprinkle. but let's take a look at the

artist colony have just one more day to pack up and move out. the city of oakland has red-tagged the warehouse where they live at 20th and market street. they say the building is unsafe and a public nuisance. reporter laura anthony spoke to residents who say they have nowhere else to go. >> it's an old warehouse, a bus barn that was converted to live workspaces about 15 years ago. a building that houses about 100 people, mostly artists, who now must pack up and leave by midnight, sunday. >> will you be out by midnight, sunday? >> well, i'll get arrested otherwise. >> carolyn valentine and sam shared their loft with two other people. together they pay about $1,600 per month.9 their loft does have issues. >> apparently a carbon monoxide leak, as they pointed out theb. other day. >> but ones they say could or should have been fixed long before it got to this. >> it certainly favors living in a tent underneath the bridge.
