what has been a messy day. >> eric the wind have been especially strong here along the coast but we saw wind-related damage just about everywhere. >> this large tree couldn't withstand the high winds. it came crashing down on two properties preventing the owner of this home from driving out. luckily no one was hurt and the damage was minimal. >> all of a sudden we heard this boom and it came down on to the roof of the house. we just bought this car last month. fortunately nothing with the house. >> going from one call to the next, just down the hill arcing power lines. one passerby was captured on company raw. >> i turned around and you can see the arcing of the electricity. it probably lasted maybe three or four of those bursts. >> farther down another mess.

a tree fell on to the property next door forcing one family member in a wheelchair to find another place to stay overnight. the clean up crew is not expected until monday. >> he can't go in the house. he is handicapped. there is no way to get inside. the tree is just there. >> and in san francisco a toppled tree. julie zito was driving when the tree started to fall. >> i couldn't have avoided it. it came down on my car. >> her car damaged and not totaled. it was a close call where no one was hurt. abc7 news. >> drow is here and how long will those winds be with us? >> the showers are out. live doppler 7hd is dry and it will be a windy overnight period.

the now demolished home. >> eric for days they said there was no watermain leak here. they were partially correct. it turns out the leak was up the street. >> the $2.1 million dream home was demolished. it was a neighbor who noticed the widening crack. evidence the home was sliding down the hillside. one red tag and a demolition crew later the story was far from over. >> this wasn't a normal slide. it was caused by the water. >> the san francisco public utility commission sent out a leak detection crew. they connected them to this line four homes up. >> it sounded like a leak somewhere around here jie. seven hours after they first arrived they began drilling. >> as soon as they cracked the pavement the water was there. >> martel's neighbor the same one who noticed the widening

crack took this cell phone video. martel says crews looked once before down the street in the opposite direction in front of another neighbor's home. but it subsided on its own. a mystery water source. >> it wasn't adding up. >> with a disastrous destination. >> the water found its lowest point. >> they will spend the next few days to determine why the home was caused to slide. >> we will take full responsibility for the whole situation. >> including financial responsibility which is good news for martel and his neighbors. they plan to meet on monday night. >> we gathered a good way of explaining our damages and it is what needs to be fixed after all of this. >> what we are hoping is we need to rebuild. >> no one here is likely to forget. in san francisco, melanie

>> alameda county fire has smoke pouring from a home on glen drive. they said it was charging when it sparked. they had it out in 10 minutes after arriving. the hover boards are blamed for a pair of fires in sonoma county. and more than three dozen nationally. >> all three escaped inmates were back in orange county. jonathon and jose returned to orange county jail early this morning. tonight abc7 news reporter cornell bernard has more on the suspects and what may have brought them to the bay area in the first place. >> they returned to the orange county men's jail in santa ana early sunday, the same facility they managed to escape from eight disa -- days ago after sawing their way out of their cell and crawling to freedom of the a woman

biggest football event has changed since that first game. >> the super bowl is underway. >> january 15th, 1967 kicked off the most anticipated sporting event for football players and fans. the kansas city chiefs against the green bay packers inside the los angeles memorial coliseum. the game itself is pretty much the same. what's changed? first of all the game was not originally called the super bowl. it was called the afl-nfl world championship game. the super bowl officially got its name two years later. look how well dressed the fans are. men wore neck ties and the women dressed more elegantly. looks like "breakfast at tiffanies." they paid $10 for the ticket and compare that super bowl 50 where the cheapest tickets in the nose bleed section went for $3,000. speaking of money the cost of ads during the game.

that system is pushing off to the east. temperature wise we are mainly in the mid40s to lower 50s. you can wipe away the numbers because when you factor in the numbers it is 38 in napa and 37 in santa rosa. 41 in san francisco and it feels like 41 in san jose. that's all because of the winds you can see right here. out of the north and west and breezy at times. 36 in oakland and 35 in mountain view. wind gusts to 40 miles per hour. we have a storm system to the east and a high pressure to the west and these two are opposing forces. it creates a wind tunnel affect and they will be with us first thing tomorrow morning. it is not until midday on monday we start to see the

wind relax. the winds first thing tomorrow morning will feel chilly. by 7:00 tomorrow morning you can see most spots feels like the 30s. you will want the heavy winter jacket. your day planner shows we have clear skies and the winds will begin to ease midday. there is a nice winter day shaping up for the first day of february. mostly sunny and seasonal temperatures in the midto upper 50s. then we'll track some rain headed our way. five is the most severe and it gives you an idea what to expect with each storm we see. the one on tuesday morning is a one. it is a light storm with light rain. it is the timing with the biggest impact. we will be tracking wet weather for the morning rush.
