>> now at 11:00, a life-threatening outbreak at a south bay university. hundreds of students lined up to get vaccinated for men anyone. >> ties after three classmates got the disease. >> abc7 news reporter lisa amin gulezian is live with new details. lisa? >> dan, you know, at some point, the students were in line for more than two hours and it was all to get a vaccine for the b strain of bacterial meningitis. the santa clara university students field into the levy center nonstop for hours. >> it is a surprise to me and it is scary. >> the university is doling out 3500 doses of the vaccine on sunday three students all got sick. sources say two live in swig hall and one victim is on the university's rowing team. >> there were so many people

that were affected or in the vicinity of the initial person that was infected. my concern is keeping it contained. >>200 students mostly in the dorm have already gotten antibiotics. meningitis is spread through coughing, sneezing or kissing. he is not surprised by the outbreak. >> it is significant because it is a school with a very large dormitory population and that's where it spreads quickly. >> symptoms are a high fever, severe headaches and extremely stiff neck, vomiting, red rash and sensitivity to bright lights. a different meningitis strain killed a professor in alameda last month. no other cases of meningitis have surfaced at that campus. lisa amin gulezian, abc7 news. >> abc7 news was in pacifica after a second sinkhole opened up on beach boulevard.

violent waves chipped away at the coastline. the city is under a local state of emergency after sig -- after significant el nino-red storms. and a high surf warning up and down the coast tonight. you can see the large waves. the warning will remain in affect until 7:00 a.m. tomorrow. despite the high surf, the maverick surf contest won't happen until at least next week. today was the first of four blackout days for the popular competition. resources and agencies needed for the contest are busy with super bowl 50. if you want to watch surfers say they will be out on the water surfing anyway. a granite state battle between the democrats who want to be president. with five days to go before the new hampshire primary, former secretary of state hillary clinton and bernie sanders did not hold back in their debate tonight. abc7 news reporter marcy gonzalez is in manchester.
