of a second-story window in fear for her life. investigators say vega took off with his son and yesterday afternoon, police recovered the boy and arrested vega at a fairfield apartment without incident. he was a graduate of the napa police academy the same police academy that officer vegas graduated from in 1990. at this point, there is no word on a motive. >> they all had a great relationship. something just must have went really sour. >> we are in shock. honestly, i am not 100 percent sure yet. >> flags were lowered to half staff at the richmond police defendant. the officer and his wife had ten 20 and 20 grandchild. he was 58. >> in the newsroom for abc7 news. >> thank you. his wife, sandra, is recovering this morning after jumping out a second-story window during the

as it happens. >> overnight, san jose police are searching for the driver who hit and killed a pedestrian near winchester boulevard. the investigators say a man was walking on winchester and he was hit shortly after midnight. witnesses say the driver was in a red compact car and took off. police have been on the scene all night long, so if you are driving through that area, expect some possible closures. >> police in san francisco are on the look out for a driver behind a frightening scene that played out last night, look at how it ends, with a hole in a restaurant near california. witnesses reported that the silver infinity s.u.v. drive on to the sidewalks and straight through the front of the restaurant. the driver took off before the police got there. the firefighters cleaned up a mess and put a tarp on the window. it is incredible no one was hurt. >> after three weeks the downtown morning commute is finally mostly back to normal.

super bowl 50 detours are wrapped up. amy hollyfield is in downtown san francisco with the one remaining change we are waiting for. amy? >> good morning. the muni service will be back to normal starting at 5:00 this morning. it is 30 more minutes muni can use the embarcadero and market street like it could before the super bowl. here is video of the embarcadero last night, southbound embarcadero has been closed. the lanes are available again. this is after nearly three weeks of closure. a section of market was closed, too, and muni was exacted. this is also a way to accommodate super bowl city where fans could enjoy the super bowl-related activities. they made the commute tough on people, many who ended up turning to public transportation. you now have it back so you can plan on using this iras normal for the commute this morning. >> thank you, amy.

new details have been released of last month's deadly greyhound bus crash in san jose. a preliminary federal investigation showed no sign of mechanical issues and no drugs or alcohol in the driver's systems. the driver was one of the 13 people injured in the crash. two women lost their lives. the national transportation safety board plans to use bus camera footage, tracking systems and 3-d imaging to figure out exactly what happened. >> 20 gunshot wounds, meth, antidepressants are findings in a recently released autopsy report for thissen ma, mario woods, he was shot and killed by san francisco police in december. we have details on the autopsy and how it is now sparking new outrage. >> my god, drop it. >> the police slotting of mario woods captured by a witness phone shed new light on the deadly confrontation. the san francisco medical examiner said that woods was shot 20 times, multiple times in
