52 in mountain view and 54 downtown. you can see the hills there floating on top of the fog. looking at numbers in the 40s here. we'll be above average records again possible in the future. chris? >> thanks, lisa. new this morning, the santa clara county sheriff's office is asking for your help in identifying a man they say shot another man in downtown san jose. a camera captured this picture of the man who investigators say shot the victim on the light rail platform. it happened just after 10:00 last night. the victim was taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. the sheriff's office is handling the case because it happened on vta property. the chp is trying to track the person responsible for a bizarre attack on the golden gate bridge. abc 7 news reporter has more.

>> reporter: both blow darts are four inches long according to the california highway patrol. one penetrated pretty deep. as paramedics try to help first victim, a second said she was also hit. >> she was struck in the kneecap and gone into the skin. >> the darts were launched from a car driving northbound on the bridge, they working with the golden gate bridge authorities to see if they have any surveillance video to help catch the culprits behind this attack. vista point is one of the most popular places in the bay area. bobby was showing his family from london this view. i showed him and can you sayous picture of the dart. >> it is scary but you can't hide. you've got to look out for yourself. >> these days you doeblt know what's going to happen. >> according to the chp neither dart seem to be poisoned and investigators will return to the

scene with the two victims to pinpoint exactly where they were hit. that way they can figure out when this suspect car was on bridge. at vista point, abc 7 news. this morning we have more details about the offduty richmond police officer shot and killed in his own home. officer gus vegas was killed thursday during a domestic dispute. his family came forward yesterday in an emotional tribute to the man they lost. we're also learning more about the man arrested for the crime. abc 7 news reporter alan wong has the latest. >> our doorbell started ringing off the hook. >> reporter: it was sandra vegas, the wife of murdered richmond police officer vegas, she said vega had shot and killed her shus. >> what were the exact words? >> that he's been hearing voices lately and this is the devil. >> reporter: many are wondering how a seemingly good relationship between the 15-year police veteran and the father of

his grandson ended so tragically. police say there was an altercation involving the two men. gus's daughter angel and the couple's 6-year-old son. from their church the family forgave robert veg da and praised vegas's life. >> the life as a police officer devoted to protecting others and life of a father that he ultimately sacrificed in protecting his family. >> robert vega was at the family's vallejo home regularly and caused gus dad. robert vega appeared to be stable. >> it seemed like he stayed busy and had himself under control. he was ex-military too. >> robert vega is an army veteran deployed to iraq and recently working in construction. in vallejo, alan wong, abc 7 news. fire destroyed a home atop a cliff in pacifica yesterday.

the charred wreckage of a home, the firefighters had the fire out in about an hour but they were slowed down by fallen power lines. new firefighter video shows smoke pouring out of the home and thankfully no one was hurt but finding the cause will be adult difficult because it is unsafe. >> firefighters faced dangerous conditions yesterday. that's a power line arcing outside a home on noter dame avenue in belmont. firefighters pulled a dog and cat out of the home and gave the cat oxygen and took it to a veterinary hospital. the dog was not hurt. a care facility for disabled adults in mountain view has been shut down because of health violations. inspectors found bed bugs, sewage leaks and mold in the living areas of residents at the san antonio man manor, they visited several times citing it with 56 infractions.

not only was it deemed unhealthy but also unsafe. inspectors also found renovations done without permits as well as structural deficiencies, managers have appealed the closure. a san rafael group has called for the boycott of two stores for selling what they call alcopop. they used for a free zone in the city's canal neighborhood. abc 7 news with a in san rafael as they marched in protest. they asked them to stop selling the drinks saying the drinks are marketed to kids and they are especially a concern withñç the new product just out on market. >> there's eight different versions of deadpool on the outside of the mike's hard lemonade can. 8% alcohol content. and they are very sweet, youth oriented flavors. >> the group tried to get the drinks banned statewide but failed.

a group of nuns facing eviction from san francisco's tenderloin have a unlikely savior. the kron kel reports tony rob bins met with the nuns during a trip to the bait area and handed them a check for $25,000. robbins heard about their landlord's plans to raise the rent by 50 pirs and wanted to help. they lived there eight years and run a soup kitchen at that location. san francisco has launched a new two-person team to address emergency needs for homeless. the mayor's office announced the creation of the homeless emergency assessment and response team. they'll respond to 911 calls for nonemergency medical psychological and social needs. the team will work from noon to midnight when most of the 911 calls come from the homeland. a peninsula community rolled out the red carpet not for movie stars but surfers. the best wave riders took part in yesterday's maverick surf

bolster local economy is great. >> brings a lot of energy to half moon bay. >> that energy lasting through the night, with 24 of the world's best surfers strutting their stuff in dry land. in half moon bay, abc 7 news. a santa cruz native had a serious knockoff that left him with a blown ear drum. kel collins crashed when the wave collapsed around him. water started pouring into collins mouth and his ear drum blew out. he pulled the cord on his safety vest and got him to the surface and kept him from possibly drowning. a very close call. wow. weatherwise, some dense fog out there in parts of the bay area. when will it lift? >> it's beginning to lift some some spots about less from a quarter mile in napa and see here in san francisco low 50s and to around with no fog in concord.

this morning we're looking at visibility, less than a quarter mile still in napa, petaluma at a half mile. concord not much going on for you but in livermore, looking at the quarter mile visibility, less than that at the san carlos airport. 3/4 visibility at half moon bay. sfo, no delays there. and one mile in san jose. it's been in and out of the dense fog. our camera you can see how dead calm it is out there. we need a bit of a west wind and that sun to evaporate all of that moisture. that is exactly what is on the way as high pressure rolls out for a brilliant afternoon but it will build. it is mild despite all of the cloud cover, 55 in oakland, 51 in morgan hill and 50 on coast. this is a look at sfo. no problems despite all of that gray. low 40s and cooler in the north bay for santa rosa, 45 in novato

and 44 in napa and fairfield. 49 in concord. with lake tahoe in the distance, it looks beautiful. temperatures have been in the 20s, mother nature bringing rain and looks like late wednesday into thursday. highs today upper 50s there. foggy start this morning. warming up for valentine's day and we could even see a record tomorrow but more likely on monday and tuesday as the center of the ridge is right over the bay area. today a weak trough to the north allowing for westerly winds and once again those long period westerly swells to create hazardous conditions. look at mafl moon bay. 15-foot swells, it's a tough time of yearly where we get a brief break in the records and you head to the beach and you have to know how dangerous it is out there. looking at low 60s in yosemite. mid-60s along the coast. but if many day for monterey, pebble beach starting out with

roman catholic shrine. the death toll in the taiwan earthquake has gone up to 115 people with two people still missing in the rubble of a collapsed apartment building. 327 residents survived this magnitude 6.4 quake. the building's developer and architects are accused of cutting corners. they'll inspect several dozen other developments in the area that did not collapse. a boston school teacher was killed after an airborne manhole cover hit her car causing her to crash into a wall. police are investigating how the 200 pound man hole cover dislodged and went into the air. officers are looking into excessive wear or any other characteristics that could have caused it to become airborne. police say the teacher died instantly. 8:33 is the time. there's a new sport booming in the bay area and you don't even have to get off the couch to play it. abc 7 news anchor reggie takes us inside the world of e sports. >> reporter: from living rooms to arenas and to ball room, the

the series will most likely be distributed through apple music and tech company is streaming music component it's not clear if apple will be on i tune store or other apple platforms. a new iphone bug has popped up that will make the device unusable. several users discovered when you set the clock to january 1st, 1970, the phone crashes and won't restart. you won't want to try this for yourself but one man did it to his iphone and posted it on his u tube channel so you can see what happens. most likely explanation has to do with time zones. setting the clock back that far causes the internal clock to be set to less than zero which confuses the device and crashes it. the bug only affects newer i phones and ipads. call that a $500 mistake. >> ouch. good morning, everyone, the fog getting lower and it's evaporating. play is under way at pebble beach. sfo four mile visibility. 43 in santa rosa, 55 in oakland.
