your weekend and when we're going to see rain return coming up. lisa, thank you, developing news now, the chp is investigating a three-car crash that killed two people. it happened just before 9:00 last night near castro valley. a black bmw tried to pass a car on canyon road just south of north canyon road. it crossed the double yellow lines and collided head on with a pickup truck. the driver and the front passenger were killed. >> the vehicle had to be cut apart by the fire department to try to render assistance to the driver and the passenger. >> a woman who was a passenger in the back seat of the bmw is in serious condition and so is the driver of of the pickup truck. the car that was being passed received minor damage. >> in san jose, a partially paralyzed woman was rushed out of a burning building. neighbors are questioning why&v

he took me outside. >> around noon people escaped three homes on fire in san jose. as it spread they took this cell phone video. >> i look at the flame and the roof all burning. we didn't know where the fire was coming. >> firefighters called a fourth alarm and by 1:30 they extingished the flame. >> everything i owned is gone. >> now the atf is investigating and people are questioning why the station across the street couldn't put it out quicker.

charged with murdering his girlfriend. a mother of two. charged with the murder of 22-year-old stacey aguilar. >> 23-year-old is charged with murder for allegedly gunning down his girlfriend, 22-year-old stacey aguilar outside a valentine's weekend house party. his friend, perez, heard the gunshot and helped him dump the body down an enbankment in a rural portion of fremont and helped ditch her belongings. >> a lot of the family was surprised more than anything just because they didn't -- never seen it coming, never seen anything like that with him, any type of violence, nothing like that. >> the family friend didn't want to speak on camera. he says the only thing he ever heard of him being in trouble with the law is something related to a dui charge.

alone. all targeting hondas, alan wong has more. >> reporter: mitch replaces a lot of stolen catalytic converters at his muffler shop. >> they seem to be brazen, middle of the day. people's driveways, it's pretty surprising seems to me. >> reporter: on tuesday, catalytic converters were stolen for four cars at the b.a.r.t. station in the east lot. >> we had a hike on prices in the parking lot from $1 to $3, but we don't have security. >> reporter: all four thefts happened here between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. in broad daylight. surveillance cameras and warning signs are visible all over the property. >> i don't know how well they are enforced actually. i think the thieves are braver than everyone else thinks. >> reporter: in february, 23 catalytic converters were stolen from kids in b.a.r.t. parking lots, still b.a.r.t. says

overall property crime is down 10% and it will continue its regular parking patrols in berk l ly, abc 7 news. consumers are used to finding list of ingredients on food and cosmetics but there's no requirement to list all ingredients on cleaning products. reggie finds out why many consumer and health organizations want to force manufacturers to tell us more about the chemicals in our homes. >> cleaning products are a part of daily life. >> our homes and workplaces and kids and teachers and their schools, all of those locations are cleaned with these products. a lot of products carry required warning labels about poison or eye or skin irritation, but most do not list all ingredients on the label. >> do you think companies should be required to put ingredients on the label? >> of course, they have to. >> i don't see why they would not ever be labeled. some product you're using in

your home. >> reporter: public demand is pushing many companies to disclose their ingredients, a few list them all and growing number post some of them on the websites. >> clorox now has a phone app. all i do is look up the product and up pops a list of ingredients. >> we found a wide range of company policies and they are not always straight forward. bill is with the environmental working group and showed us a bottle of woolite that tells you to go to a website for ingredients. >> maybe i'm allergic or asthma or my pregnant wife wants to use it. >> when he searched the website -- >> i'm not seeing anything about ingredients here. >> after lots of clicking around, he calls a phone number on the site. he's on hold for a few minutes and finally someone tells him he has to go to another website, not the one listed on the bot e bottle. almost 15 minutes later, it's not the complete list because

like a lot of products, it doesn't show what's in the fragrance. some, including tide, just give a list of hundreds of ingredients that could be in there. none of the major cleaning product companies we contacted would do an interview. industry spokesman ryan sansoni cites trade secrets why it is not disclosed. >> each and every product may have a specific formulation that's unique for that product. >> reporter: some consumer and health activists don't buy it. >> the reality is that all of their competitors already know what's in these products because they can use labs to figure out what those chemicals are. so the only people that are left in the dark are the government and consumers and workers. >> reporter: the cleaning industry says critics are december to distorting information about minute amounts of chemicals. >> the cleaning products on the shelves today are safe and effective when used as directed. >> reporter: a consumer

coalition is pushing to get california to require all ingredients be listed on cleaning product labels. the measure failed in the assembly last month and plan to try again. abc 7 news. a 5-year-old bay area boy has made remarkable progress. one year after falling 230 feet over a cliff. abc 7 news was at oakland children's hospital where sebastian johnson shot hoops yesterday. last year sebastian was enjoying a family picnic when the ground gave way. he tumbled down the cliff. first responders pulled him to safety but he spent ten days in a coma. he now has to wear a helmet and use a wheelchair when he's tired but doctors or optimistic about his future. >> it's a miracle. >> kind a few miracles, yes. >> for him to recover like this is amazing. >> reporter: sebastian returned

systems missing us in the next few days, as a result we're just getting the tail end of it and cloud cover. this is totally fogged in a couple of minutes ago at santa cruz where numbers are climbing through the 50s at this hour. near 70 today there. 54 in san francisco, 56 in mount continue view and san jose, 54 in morgan hill. half moon bay, 55. we have dangerous surf here right on through the afternoon. we'll tate you 80 miles north to the golden gate bridge where it looks nice and clear. we'll see high clouds from time to time but temperatures still above average today. they were above average this morning due to all of the cloud cover but with the west wind we'll get into comfortable 60s today. 48 in santa rosa and novato, good morning. 50 by the delta and low to mid-50s from difflivermore and concord. we'll get rid of the fog within the next hour or so in the north bay. then it's quiet today and

tomorrow. ridge of high pressure a weak one builds and then it's going to be broken down this time looks likely we will see some rain come wednesday night into thursday. hopefully that will bring in more changes -- begin the changes for march. our surf could get as high as 20 feet. the waves here. right now the current wave height is 10 to 12 feet, from the north bay, sonoma down through monterey, it's very dangerous. so really need to be aware of that if you're headed to the coast. thinning out of the clouds will be what's on tap for today. the afternoon clearing and another weak system brings us clouds tonight. by tomorrow afternoon, very similar. but when does it get interesting? it looks like after wednesday. so between now and then, we've got the 60s in yosemite. 70s in southern california. and they probably won't see any rain from this system. in fact, tomorrow in the mid-70s, plenty of sunshine and 75 at 2:00.

live oscar sunday, february 28th on abc. we want to give you an update on breaking news. the chp is investigating a fatal shooting in richmond. a man in his 40s was driving in a jeep westbound interstate 80 when a car drove alongside him and fired several rounds into his vehicle. the jeep drifted across the freeway and down an enbankment to the right side of the freeway. all traffic is being diverted off the freeway as the chp con ducts their investigation. the freeway is expected to reopen sometime after 10:30. you can follow us on twitter at abc7 news bay area for the latest update. nasa scientists are keeping a close eye how el nino conditions are playing out on
