rally today calling for justice for alex nueto. he was shot 14 times in a park in 2014. officers said they believed he was pointing a gun at them. he was actually carrying a taser, which his family says was licensed and needed for his job. the family is suing the city and police for wrongful death. three san francisco sheriff's deputies are being charged tonight, accused of ordering inmates to fight each other against their will. prosecutors say the jailhouse fight club incidents occurred last march. the sheriff says so far she doesn't believe other deputies are involved. >> i will say this, what i saw more of was people not knowing what they were seeing, not understanding what was going on. and i think that to me is what happened. >> one of the deputies facing charges is no long we are the department. the other two are working in position where is they do not have contact with inmates. his appointment was no

surprise today. san jose officially named a new police chief. are hoping to put pressure on the national parks service to not change its policy. supervisors rallied with dog owners outside of city hall. they're considering a resolution to oppose a plan to limit dog areas in the golden gate national recreation area, which includes ocean beach. some current off-leash areas would be off limits to dogs. >> they've come out and said hey, maybe we're going to have more areas where you have to keep your dogs on leash. that is something that will be acceptable. but they did not do that. >> the national park service says the dog management plan is meant to protect wildlife and make the parks enjoyable for everyone. visitors won't have to pay fees at six locations. money from the county's general fund will be used to cover the lost revenue. officials are increasing

new memoir in july on how she adjusted to life after her 18-year captivity. the book is the second memoir she has written. the first book "a stolen life" described her abduction and captivity. in 1991 she was kidnapped from her neighborhood and held in the backyard of her captor's home. she gave birth to two daughters during her captivity. half a dozen bay area newspapers will become just two publications. four east bay papers, including the contra costa times, will become the east bay times. in silicon valley, san jose mercury news will become the america news. a driver hit and killed a mountain lion in sonoma county. these pictures are from the fire department there. here's the strange part. no driver was at the scene, but

we head towardsç tomorrow evenig and you notice rain moving in at 8:00 p.m. 10:00 p.m., it starts to slide into the east bay and san francisco. by midnight, it's still across the northern and central portion of the bay area. it will take a while before it reaches the south bay. and the rainfall intensity will lighten as it heads that way. by 4:00 a.m. thursday, you're still looking at some wet roadways for the start of the commute. 5:00 a.m., scattered light to moderate showers. and those showers continue at 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. but very limited in coverage by the afternoon, things wind down, only to get ready for the next system heading into friday. this first one is expected to bring anywhere between a quarter to three quarters of an inch of rain. and here is where the next system comes in. so friday night is when we're expecting showers ahead of the next storm. that rain returns and it really gets going on saturday and sunday. that's when we'll see stronger winds and heavier rainfall.
