>> let's take a look at live doppler 7 hd. here is a system north that will bring us rainfall and the storm impact scale. the one headed our way ranks one on the storm impact scale, a light storm that could produce up to an inch of rain in the wettest spots accompanied by light winds. starting at 7:00, notice before midnight, rain arrives from the north bay and by 2:00 a.m., most of the area will have received rainfall around 5:00 a.m. or so, most rain is falling at that moment that will be light. there will be wet pavement and we'll see more rain developing, pockets of rain, scattered showers continuing throughout the afternoon into evening hours. so it's going to be the first in a series of storms.

i'll show you what is coming up next in a few minutes. >> thank you, spencer. only abc7 news was there today when four san francisco police officers arrived at federal court to testify in the wrongful death lawsuit. >> the officers fired 59 shots. the question now, was the shooting justified? >> abc7 news is back from court with the latest today. >> well, the first person on the stand is a rookie cop, who is on a training run that night. he fired the most shots of any these four are the first to testify in the trial of the death of alex nietto. first on the stand, 25-year-old richard ship, a rookie at the time of the shooting.

he was driving the patrol car on a training run and testified a call came about a man with a gun and thought the suspect could have been a gang member because he was wearing a red niners jacket. shipp arrived, drove past two cars into the park and ship testified no, show me your hands and reached for a gun with a red laser site. shipp emptied his shot. and aimed at the officer. shipp relocated and firing 23 shots. >> you can't say something to investigate and this is making it. so it has to be evaluated. is that something reasonable? >> chip testified when he first

arrived he locked eyes from feet away. and niners baseball cap and gun glasses. and neitto did not have a gun that night and still, an issue whether he pulled or aimed at officers. one witness will testify nietto had his hands in his jacket pocket. the sheriff testified his father is a sfpd officer and met him before giving a statement at the shooting. and shipp answered not.

another inmate witness testified and was beaten by three jail guards accused in a murder of michael tyree. diaz says the attack happened before the death and that he heard five minutes of screaming. a preliminary hearing is underway to determine whether guards will face charges. a powerful earthquake jolted people along western indonesia this morning. and kristin zee has the latest information. kristin? >> this earthquake measured 7.8 in magnitude. there was a tsunami warning but it was cancelled. damage was minimal in part due to the epicenter located in the indian ocean. the nearest city is 500 miles away on the western coast. the quake happened at 4:49 this

morning and it helped the quake was deep originating 15 miles beneath the sea. this is video where there was tremendous shaking as of now there are no reports of injuries, deaths or damage. but local residents were panicked at first, rushing to higher ground, fearing a tsunami. the quake hit the same region that was devastated in 2004 by a tsunami in the same area, 107 people died in indonesia. the country sits along the pacific ring of fire. one impact, goed prices are up, trading up world wide. and the biggest gold mine in the world is in indonesia. >> in developing news, the threat of the sxeeka virus is now in the bay area. today, the first case was reported in napa county. a pregnant woman who travelled to central america and is now

back tested positive for the disease. she's no longer showing symptoms. >> this is a person that traveled to an area where zika transmission is occurring and so there is no risk of transmission within napa county. >> the virus is transmitted through mosquitos as well as sexual contact with someone who has the disease. pregnant women are advised not to travel to parts of south america. a south bay high school wrestler says he may have exposed others to herpes after falling ill with the skin infection. he says he was diagnosed with a skin infection caused by the herpes virus. blake believes he contracted the virus from a wrestling match in independence high school last month and now urging wrestlers to sit out the state championship concerned if they caught it from him, they may spread it. >> they need to be stopped from

57 in half moon bay and low 60s in most locations. and this is our view with a little peak of sunlight coming through there. and showers linger into friday followed by another on sunday. we're projecting rainfall totals from approaching storms tonight and tomorrow reaching by 5:00 p.m. just over half an inch and a few hundredths of an inch of rain likely in parts of the south bay and east bay. the next storm ranks three on the storm impact scale. will be a strong storm expected to produce 1 and 2 inches of rainfall. and so there are waves of rain,

heavy at times, and throughout the day and into the night, saturday, they'll be followed by another storm sunday, gusts with this storm projected to increase to oh, somewhere between 40 and 55 miles per hour around the bay area and into saturday evening. now, this night we expect cloudy skies in the north bay. lows in the low to mid-50s, tomorrow, looking for periods of showers and rain, and this may be some locally heavy down pours from time to time. high temperatures in the low to mid-60s. let me give you a nice slow look at the accu-weather forecast. so showers linger through
