you can see plenty of green on live doppler 7hd and flooding is a concern across the bay area. good evening. i'm eric thomas. we have team coverage for the second storm in as many days. drew? >> we are seeing very heavy rain especially in the southern half of the bay area. it is right down to street level. live doppler 7hd. yellows, oranges and reds, fremont, newark, union city. heavy rain is falling at this hour. we'll slide over to mountain view as well as sunnyvale or in and out of the pockets of heavier rain even as we move toward san jose. a pop of yellow around santa clara. we have a flood advisory for the southern half of the bay area.

there are smaller streams and creeks and areas of poor drainage and we could have flooding overnight. be aware of that. we are picking up on thundershowers. live doppler 7hd and notice the lightning strikes and as we widen out the view there are other thunderstorms off the coast as well. overnight and first thing tomorrow morning, some of the thundershowers may move into the bay area. our storm impact scale, this is a moderate storm. we are tracking the downpours and really the concern overnight is pockets of flooding. really what to expect for the monday morning commute, scattered showers and a chance of thunderstorms and expect a slower commute tomorrow morning as flooding is likely on our area roadways. more storms to talk about in the seven-day forecast. a look at that in a few minutes. eric? >> thank you very much. we pick up our team coverage with abc7 news reporter sergio live in mill valley where there is a lot of water. sergio? >> reporter: the heavier rains may have let up for awhile now, but the standing water

remains. check this out. look at that. the vehicle went through this massive puddle. we are along the fron taj road -- frontage road in mill valley. it stretches all the way across the street. the steady rains caused a few spots of pooling which caused drivers to slow to a crawl. it caused one of the biggest safety issues. >> you're right. people are crazy. they don't know how to slow down. that's why i have the big truck out today. >> we saw one spinout on highway 101 and the car smashed into the hillside. the rain-slicked streets posed a problem for destiny. she bicycled to work. >> you have to be careful sliding. you don't want to end up on the road. >> the saturated ground caused

the roots to buckle on this tree so it fell over. a fire department team cut it apart and cleared the roadway. the showers came in waves, but didn't pack the same winds as saturday's storm so most people had a good attitude about the drenching. >> i love seeing the rain. keep it coming. >> dan and nancy say they know it will take a lot of rain to get us out of our year's long drought. so they are happy with the return of umbrella weather. of the creeks and rivers look like they were about to go over their banks. reporting live in mill valley, abc7 news. >> our team coverage continues with abc7 news reporter lilian kim live in san mateo. you have seen a good amount of rain tonight too. >> eric, the rain has been

relentless on the peninsula. no let up since it started. highway 101 especially dicey right now. we saw the chp conducting round robins in burlingame. chp officers were slowing down traffic to alert motorists of a fender bender ahead. farther south on 101 and highway 92, a scary situation involving a pick up truck that veered off the highway and into a ditch. a photo taken by the san mateo fire department shows the truck submerged in water. luckily the driver got out uninjured. in belmont we saw a flooding going on. the homeowner called the fire department when he realized the water wasn't draining properly. instead it was slowing under his house. something he has never seen happen in his 20 years of living there. >> we came home after shopping at the grocery store and heard a river boo hind our house. that's what we saw.

>> it was on its way and more problems are likely to develop overnight as the storm continues to make it way through the area. lilian kim, abc7 news. >> thanks, lilian. it took 24 hours to restore power to one east bay neighborhood. abc7 news was on quail ridge road as crews prepared the lines. a large feel fell on to a power pole snapping it in half. 63 customers were in the dark and clean up took all day. the power was restored after 7:00 tonight. i think the arborists will get calls nonstop. >> the tree blocked the only road in and out leaving many people trapped in their homes for several hours. the fire department opened a fire road so they could get in and out. there were delays all day at sfo because of the weather. arriving flights right now are

delayed an average of 50 minutes. no major delays at oakland or san jose airports. several large trees were ripped out of the ground. abc7 news was at the park where you can see they were lying on their side blocking the trail this afternoon. and we are seeing new images of the sliding hillside at the korean central presbyterian church in daily city. erosion is eating away at the parking lot and the rain is not making things better. these pictures were taken by mike miller, a nearby resident. he believes more parking spots were there in the last few months. the city manager now says crews will start to tear down 320 320esplanade on tuesday. they were originally supposed to tear it down starting tomorrow. lots of snow dumped on the sierra. officials report 31 inches of

can see on your screen. as we move into livermore even pleasanton. hit and miss downpours at this hour. as we widen out the view it is the have and have knots. as you move north oakland into the north bay and san rafael, it is light rain indicated by the light green on your screen. one storm moved through and it has a lightning strike, but we widen out the picture and there is a lot of activity off the coast. live doppler 7hd showing a lot of moisture that will move through here. a lot of lightning strikes to the south and even to our north. it is not really out of the question that a thundershower could move into the bay area. we are still under a flash flood watch for the next five hours. still the potential is there for any downpour that moves through to cree it a isolated flooding issues. we also have a wind advisory in affect for 4:00 with some gusts as high as 45 miles per hour. along the coast, a high surf advisory in affect until 10:00 on tuesday morning. waves could get as high as 19

feet. that's an active ocean current and it could lead to beach erosion there. the next couple hours, this is still a two. moderate storm and seeing heavy downpours right now. really the main concern is pockets of flooding in the immediate next three to four hours. so future weather shows you we are tracking the heavy rain in the south bay. also around fremont and livermore. as we go overnight the heavy rain gets out of here. we are going to see a break in the activity 3:00 on monday morning. we will down grade that storm to a one on the storm impact scale of the it will be a light storm for monday morning. we'll have scattered showers and i want to highlight there is the chance for a thunderstorm popping up on monday morning. future weather shows 5:00 in the morning for the monday morning commute. we are tracking the downpours. i would bet on having a slower than normal commute especially where we see areas of ponding on the roadways. the rain continues by 7:00 in the morning and it is mainly south of the golden gate bridge. by 10:00 and after that into

the afternoon, not out of the question to see a rogue shower pop up. this entire system will get out of here by monday evening and by 7:00 we are drying out our skies. we also have winter weather to talk about. we mentioned this earlier in the show from alta to truckee on i-80 it is completely closed. you can see why. live doppler 7hd tracking heavy snow in this area. we are under a winter storm warning in that area until tomorrow afternoon. here is the reason why. more snow headed their way in the sierra. 13 inches in donner and14 in kirkwood and south lake tahoe could pick up seven inches of snow in the next 12 to 18 hours. back at home, overnight we have heavy downpours and they will subside in the next couple hours. upper 40s to the lower 50s across the board. then highs for your monday. as we head back to work and school in the morning we will have scatter ited showers. they will taper in the afternoon and highs are on the

they win it 69-57 and their first ever pac-12 tournament title. >> adam scott, boy is is he playing good golf in the past two weeks. here he is on 14. setting up birdie to go 12 under and then take the lead from bubba watson. he beats bubba by a stroke. this victory was worth 1.6 million. for his career it is over $50 million. that's a nice career. a little windy today in vegas for nascar and the cobalt 500. passing kyle bush for the lead there. he then holds off his teammate for the first win in almost a year and his second victory in vegas in three years. jimmie johnson came in third. baseball giants and dodgers the first meeting of the spring. a nice job. the control was there.
