tree, the train car, on its side. a lot of people are say they cannot believe what they seeing and it is a real train car on the embankment. crews stayed overnight to keep the scene protected and to figure out how they are going to move this train. they listen to work on that today. they do not know how long it will take. there were 205 people on the train. nine were hurt. four have serious injuries. but not life threat being. all are expected to survive. some did not know what happened. >> a car was in the river. it did not family like that much of a bump but...it was nasty. en is okay. >> officials say this morning that the ace commuter train derailed because of a mudslide that sent a tree across the tracks. the train hit the tree. it happened at 7:30 last night.

near the 5500 block of niles canyon odd. the car that tumbled down the embankment landed in a rain filled creek and police departmented. crews say you could hear scream over the radio. >> this train was headed for stockton from san jose. official say trains are not operating today as they deal with the aftermath of the accident. >> look at new video tweeted by at alameda county fire department. can you see a firefighter trying to smash a were to get and the first rail car inside crews trying to get passengers out of the car and to safety. we continue our coverage now with abc7 reporter at the station in pleasanton. the crash is having an impact on the commute. right, janet? >> that is right. there is no train service today. and this is in timeline when service will run again. as amy mentioned it was a terrify height for many people

on the train. passengers say someone was watching out for them. it could have been so much worse. a passenger described hearing clicking of the tracks and silence. then a big thud. passengers were thrown out of the seats into the islands. many were able to pull themselves out of train car uninjured. they were shuttled to the alameda county fairgrounds where they waited to get a ride him. >> i'll okay. some of my friends were on the first one but that flipped over and went into the water. it was scary. the mudslide over the tracks and...it was rough. >> quite a rough night. another passenger said he was asleep on his commute home and he was awoken by the loud crash. can you imagine his surprise when he woke up and another describes bracing for the impact by hold on to the rails before the train car flipped.
