next on abc 7 news, with a charter bus full of people a freeway intersection turns into a shooting gallery. also with rain, the crews take action on a hillside haunted by road issues. and meteorologist drew tuma is tracking a storm. this is abc 7 news. it's very scary. >> a night of fun turns into a night of terror after gunmen open fire on a party bus early this morning. and right now the shooters are on the loose. good evening, i'm eric thomas, the shooting sent several people to the hospital all happening in oakland coming up the eastern span of the bay bridge not far from the toll plaza. abc news reporter cornell barnard is live there. and cornell, how cooperative

were passengers with police? >> reporter: eric, not helpful at all, apparently, in fact, passengers we're told, were hostile with the officers, one assaulted the investigator? why? we don't know. but we do know the passengers will survive, their conditions are improving. the bus company, the person operating the bus, not saying much at all. the person you're looking at for the distance was not involved in the shooting. chp says they're searching for the suspect but don't have much to go on. the bay bridge area was closed after the gunmen opened fire and injured one passenger critically. they were returning to san francisco, we counted at least nine bullet holes in the side of the bus. the driver was not hurt and told police he saw two gunmen driving a red suv who took off.

but party bus passengers were angry and combative with the officers. >> i provided a statement, y'all described a suspect vehicle, several were combative and one even assaulted our officers. >> one injured bus passenger fought with paramedics. >> she actually got into a fight with one of the ambulance personnel and then forced her way out of the ambulance. we don't know where sheñi is at this time. >> reporter: the chp says the party bus was likely targeted and not a random crime. it marks the eighth freeway shooting since november 2015 and some drivers are considering detours off the freeway. >> definitely have to think twice. very scary. >> the guns on the street, and all the knuckleheads have guns and they just use them. >> reporter: owners of the bus company have no comment about the shooting. in oakland, cornell barnard, abc 7 news. there were several other shootings on i-80 going back to

november of last year all believed to be gang-related. the chp says the shooters count on fewer witnesses on the freeway, several people were shot, one killed, several others were injured by the shattered glass, including a 2-year-old. take a look at the nicasio reservoir spilling over in marin county. a couple of weeks ago it was not even close to being full. the rain came down a couple of hours ago. take a look at the mudslide here, near the lake alpine dam. the chp closed both sides of the road during the cleanup. and just in the past hour in san francisco a heavy downpour swept through the city, near golden gate park, they were barely keeping up with the rain,

and a tree was removed in marina del rey, after the cleanup. and you can see here almost stop and go traffic out there. be careful if you're hitting the roads tonight. by the way, there is a high wind warning, at least i was told that when i was crossing. and we're dealing with pockets of shower, so a gray saturday on the way. live doppler 7 hd, what we have is the slow moving front across the bay area. we'll zoom into the street, around crockett, this is moving into benicia, most areas around oakland, even san francisco, you notice the light green colors, this is light rain even if you cross the bay bridge area. that is what you're experiencing. this is a light storm generally the wettest spots, we'll see maybe half an inch of rain.

future weather as we go hour by hour, looking at the thin line of rain moving at the bay area. you notice san jose and even santa rosa are dry through the evening hours. the cold front will recharge and heavier rain moves in on sunday, we'll have the accuweather forecast coming up eric. we'll see you then, thank you very much. >> in pacifica, despite rain the demolition began on an apartment complex because the cliff has been crumbling away underneath it sergio quintana has more. >> reporter: well, the rains came steadily but the good news is the wind gusts are absent today, which is good news for the crews tearing the building apart. none of the debris will get blown away, and pose a safety risk. the operators will tear down the building's walls and then load the debris onto the back of semi trucks. the building has been off limits

for quite a while because the cliff behind it has been slowly getting eaten away by the ocean. the owner declared bankruptcy and could not afford to do the job himself. this has been a demolition job many people were expecting for months. >> my friend lived here for about not even a week, about six days. and then it got tagged. like restricted use, which was actually no use at all. we had to like get out. >> it's going great. i mean, you know, we were able to take most of the building like 80% of the building down right now. and we're starting to haul it away. >> but a series of storms over the last couple of months has eaten into the cliff behind this building faster than anticipated so the city of pacifica is footing the bill for the demolition. the next door property which is 330, was torn down last month by the owner.

and as you can see in the distance back there there is a building not touched at all by the excavators. that is 310, and has been yellow tagged in the last few months, all the residents there are evacuated. it's not clear yet when the construction of that is going to start. sergio quintana. >> and they are investigating the city's second police-involved shooting in a week. happening at meridian and fruitdale avenue on the west side. officers investigated a report of somebody firing a gun near the 7-eleven. a few minutes later they stopped a car matching the description, there was a man and woman in the passenger's seat. >> the driver did not follow commands and at one point produced what appeared to be a high-powered ar-15 assault rifle. and began firing at the officers. >> three officers returned fire, wounding the man, the woman was

a new study has found that san jose is the most forgettable u.s. city in the country. the website analyzed a quiz on the website asking people to name the top 100 most populous cities in the u.s. the results, most people didn't guess san jose was in the top ten, 20 or even 30. 34% of survey takers did not even guess san jose. the least guessed city in the top 50, wichita, kansas. how about a live look outside from our lake tahoe camera right now? the snow was coming down a little while ago and a winter storm warning is in effect and some areas could see more than

four feet of snow by monday. us? we'll see more rain, here is meteorologist drew tuma. and tonight, mainly just light rain and overnight this storm will be more intense. the live doppler 7 hd, you see a thin line of showers that positioned itself right over the heart of the bay area. you see this one lone pop of yellow here near alameda, and it is resting into the east bay. the wider view as we pull out a little bit. most of the region dealing with lighter rain. you see walnut creek as we transition into the south bay. you're not seeing much in the way of rainfall right now. san jose reporting cloudy skies, we'll get rain in the south bay, minimal, thankfully right now the north bay is dry. you notice the lack of rain, live doppler hd showing development of very heavy rain. thankfully right now we'reñr no seeing strong winds, wind speeds out of the south, gusting 26

along the coast at half moon bay. but generally everywhere else is a gentle breeze, less than 15 miles an hour, the south wind is keeping temperatures in the 50s, from oakland to mountain view to santa rosa, we'll stay in the 50s overnight tonight, thanks to the south wind. a light storm is over us right now. light amounts of rain, and the winds are light, generally less than 35 miles an hour. so future weather as we go hour by hour tonight, a thin line of rain positioning itself over san francisco. and as we approach the hour, the storm will reload itself after midnight tonight. so after midnight we upgrade the storm to a two on the storm impact scale, a moderate storm, really sunday morning, you notice there is a wide range of rainfall totals with the heavier amounts falling in the north bay. i want to highlight this, the flooding is especially important to note that that may happen in

the north bay with the next round of weather, here we go, the downpours developing, the yellow colors you see on the screen, and continuing 5:00 a.m., by 10:00 the activity begins to relax itself. we see more in the way of light scattered showers, and that will be the theme as we go into sunday afternoon itself. look at the rainfall amounts, we talked about the wide range again. the south bay you do know very lights amount of rain. then the north bay will likely see over an inch of rain. for that fact, a flash flood watch is in effect for the north bay, and more rain overnight tonight which could mean a concern of flooding. we'll track that in the next 24 hours but just note if you live near small streams and creeks keep your eye on the bank as the water could rise rather quickly. the accuweather forecast, tomorrow, 2 on the impact scale. and scattered showers, perhaps a lingering shower monday morning and then watch what happens. the forecast does a 180, we turn

a google ai program beat a master player not once, not twice, but three times in south asia, go is a game long thought to be unwinnable by a computer. google said it stretched it to its limit. it's amazing the man provided any challenge, considering the computer with calculate 10 thousand moves within a second. kind of like shu with a track. that is it for abc 7 news, thank you for joining us. we'll see you later.
