bridge. a car carrying six people include three children went into a ravine. two adults were killed. one injured. the children were rescued. the victims are from stockton. an adult in the other car was kitally injured. >> a sink hole could be a problem for drivers this morning. it caused panic last night. hundreds of people had to leave businesses and shelter in place in their home. amy hollyfield is near the site of the sinkhole that led to a gas leak. >> i have good news. the gas is not leaking anymore. the threat is over. however, the inconvenience will linger. this street will be closed for a while and the gas has been shut. to explain that further i will bring in pg&e spokeswoman.

can you tell us about the gas shut off? >> because safety is our top priority, we were looking at the situation moment by moment and as the sinkhole continued to grow we decided it was hazardous. we needed to get back out and shut it off. we used our valve system to shut off seven valves. that impacts 2,500 customers. their gas has been impacted. we are going to be working through the night and through the day to make sure we restore service safely and as quickly as possible. >> people will miss the hot shower. can you give always rough estimate? it is a work in progress, i know, of when the street is re-opened and when people get their gas back? >> the street will depend on the sinkhole. that is something the town of moraga will have impacted. as forgetting service back we are bringing in 100 gas service representatives. these folks will go door-to-door

>> moraga is dealing with another big problem a landslide threatening homes near the moraga country club. you can see the deck and foundation of a home is breaking away. a neighboring home is threatened, with the hill sliding on tuesday. east bay mud owns the hillside and the utility is blamed for not for doing more for prevention after a landslide happened several months ago. they put down tarps and said they will hire an engineer to determine what needs to be done next. >> parent taking their kids to dublin elementary have to take another route. a water main break damaged part of the road near the school. alameda tweeted this video and dublin elementary is open but expect detours. the officials thing the playground may have flooded. they will be there to check for damage. classes resume at a dozen schools in marin and sonoma that

everyone closed by the storms. school leaders canceled class on friday because of the flooding conditions. we have a full list of schools re-opening at abc7news.com. heads up to napa county drivers this morning, a photo was tweeted of a crack in the road. this is on highway 121 in napa county from 128 to wooden valley closed because of storm-related damage. the c.h.p. website said that preliminary reports show that part of 121 could be closed for a month. >> sonoma to monterey, people are told to be careful near the ocean. there is a high surf advisory until this afternoon. at san francisco's ocean beach yesterday, a man said he and his wife walk their dog along the water edge but not this weekend. he said the dogs like to play in the water but they are keep them." >> soil has people worried after a hillside below an apartment

building gave way, sending mud and a few boulders down the sidewalk. the inspectors said there is no imminent threat but at an engineer should be called in. in a south bay neighborhood, a creek threatened to flood the properties. we learn where the people are finding shelter. >> when the creek began to rise, the people in the thousand trails mobile home park had to make an important decision. >> stay in, or get out. >> this family decided to stay in while the creek swelled. first responders finally moved in and evacuated 175 people. because of the rise creek. it was going to flood the park. >> the big fear was the creek would swamp the bridge that connects the camp and residents would be trapped.

their side. passengers were taken to the hospital in dodge city. amtrak is helping the rest get to the final destination. we could not know the cause. athree jail guards are scheduled to be araped on murder and assault charges. rodriguez and square list and lubrin are accused of betting mentally ill inmate to death in august. they are accused of attacking another mentally ill inmate. early this month a superior court judge ruled there was enough evidence to proceed to a trial to likely be held later this year. >> happening today, people in palo alto will find out plans to tackle the traffic and parking problems. an idea is to add a business tax to a transportation member on the ballot. it would hike the sales tax by half a cent. city leaders say it will not raise enough money to pay for everything that needs to be done. the city looking at public and private partnerships to pay for transportation projects.

>> the sound people all over the bay area will be hearing today. it took crews three hours to chop up and remove a fallen tree on highway one north of jenner. the drivers were stuck in a glad along valley ford road during yesterday's storm. people removed cars from the floodwaters. you do not seat impact of the storm in a place where you expect to see water, the russian river surged toward the banks at the height of the storm. >> in arkansas, it is not flooding but winds causing damage. this mobile home took it on the children from one of four tornadoes that touched down. parts of the home ended up in a tree. tornado watches were in affect for 40 counties in arkansas, louisiana and texas, also under tornado wants. >> for the most violent weekends in politics in 40 years candidates on both sides are sprinting to super tuesday, three. five states hold tomorrow including florida and ohio. our reporter is in cleveland
