voters heading to the polls in five big states, and two of them florida and ohio, make or break for marco rubio and john kasich. donald trump hoping to knock both of them out of the race, ohio very, very close right now. neck and neck. he wants to put himself on a clear path to the nomination. >> as for the democrats, hillary clinton and bernie sanders also in very tight races. bernie sanders looking for big upsets in the midwest. you're going to look live here at the campaigns all around the country. hard at work on this critical tuesday and supporters are out in force here in times square as well. in just a moment, we're going to hear from donald trump and governor kasich but first, let's start with abc's tom llamas who is in brook park, ohio, with the latest on the republican race. good morning, tom. >> reporter: robin, good morning to you. the voting here started about 30 minutes ago. here's one of the republican ballots and even though there's nine candidates listed here, there's only still four people in the race and as you mentioned

this is make or break for governor john kasich here in ohio and senator marco rubio in florida as trump hopes to close strong tonight. this is the day donald trump hopes to solidify his gop front-runner status and knock off some of his final republican rivals. >> but if you go to your doctor and he tells you it's over, it's just done, you're done, you are gonna be dead in three weeks, doesn't matter, get out tomorrow and vote. >> reporter: trump also taking shots at ohio governor john kasich. >> and your governor is absentee. he goes to new hampshire. he's living in new hampshire, living. >> reporter: trump also trying to make a new point, saying he's a peacemaker trying to rewrite history of the recent violence surrounding his campaign events. >> i am a peace-loving person, folks, these are love fests. >> reporter: but sarah palin, not on the same script, addressing the violent clashes that have taken place at trump rallies. >> what we don't have time for

is all that petty, punk ass little thuggery stuff that's been going on with these, quote/unquote, protesters. >> reporter: but senator marco rubio says some of the blame lies on trump. rubio banking on his home state to keep his campaign alive, not ready to surrender to trump. >> we have never had a presidential candidate that has to be bleeped out. >> reporter: governor kasich campaigning with mitt romney on monday echoing a similar message. >> and i watched the presidential campaign rally with people slugging one another. this is not how we fix america. >> reporter: and a trump supporter disrupting an event for senator ted cruz telling him to go back to canada. >> say, sir, one difference between this and a donald trump rally is i'm not asking anyone to punch you in the face. >> reporter: yeah, now with conversations from republican voters in florida and ohio it seems like it's unclear if the

violence will have any effect on donald trump. those trump supporters say they are sticking with him but to win in ohio and florida he may need more than just his core base. george. >> thanks, tom, and donald trump joins us now by phone from palm beach. five big states. how many are you going to win? >> well, i'd like to say five but i would never say anything. i want to see what happens. it's always a complicated process but i think we're going to do very well. we seem to be having great poll numbers. i think we're going to do very well. >> if you lose one or two, especially ohio, the chances of a contested convention go way up and your rivals, especially ted cruz, are already organizing for that. are you ready for a delegate by delegate contest in cleveland? >> well, i think i'm going to do well in ohio. i was there last night. we had an amazing stop in youngstown, and you know we're talking to the people and you look at what's happened and, you know, kasich supported nafta, he's now supporting ppp which is going to totally destroy ohio. it's going to take all of the

car business out of ohio and you look at what he's doing and you look at what he's done. he's in favor of common core, expanded obamacare in ohio and ohio, frankly, if it didn't strike oil, you know, years ago, ohio has the highest budget increase of any state in the united states -- >> but are you ready for a contested convention? >> well, i don't know. i mean, we'll have to see how we'll do today. maybe i'll tell you tomorrow but i think we're going to do well in ohio for all of those reasons. the streel industry has died. the coal industry has died. i think we're going to do really well in ohio. we'll see. if i am i'll be talking to you about it tomorrow. >> okay, you said you're a peace-loving person but you're still open to paying the legal fees of your supporter who

coldcocked a protester by doing that wouldn't you be supporting -- >> i don't condone violence. i didn't say i would pay -- >> so you're not going to. >> nobody has asked me for fees and i haven't even seen it so i never said i was going to say the fees. >> you said you were looking into it. if you're open to that, wouldn't by paying those fees, wouldn't that be rewarding violence? >> well, maybe so and maybe that's why i wouldn't do it. i don't condone violence at all and, you know, i looked and i watched and i'm going to make a decision but i certainly don't condone violence and maybe you're right and maybe that's why i wouldn't do it. >> and you've also said, you know, said a peace-loving person but many have talked about the various things you said on the stump that seem to encourage violence, so, based on what you're saying right now, are you going to be toning down your own rhetoric for the next phase? >> i don't think i should be toning it down, because i've had the biggest rallies of anybody, probably ever in terms of primaries and there's not even a contest and we have had very, very little difficulty. we closed down one in chicago, other than that, i mean we've had very, very little difficulty. if you look at when you have 25,000, and even 35,000 people

at these rally, we've had very, very little difficulties. >> finally, one of the super pacs going against you has put up a new ad overnight on national cable, where it has women quoting you saying things you said about other women. i was wondering have you seen that and what did you make of it? >> well, you know, i have seen it and it was a romney deal. you know, who ran one of the worst races in the history of presidential politics. he should have easily beaten the failed president obama and, you know, it's a lot of sour grapes. women, if you look at the women's polling, leaving the booths, women i'm leading by a lot and i've done very well with women and with men and with educated and with the military and with vets. i mean, we're doing well in every category but i'm leading with women and i'm very happy about it. >> mr. trump, thanks for joining us this morning. >> thank you very much. >> looks like a possible reversal on the legal fees. >> it does seem that way. all the campaigns are very busy this morning.

we'll look live now at the kasich campaign. hard at work in columbus, ohio, and we're joined now by the republican presidential candidate, john kasich. good enough to join us live this morning facing a crucial showdown in ohio. he joins us from westerville. governor, good morning to you on this very busy and important tuesday morning. we just heard from donald trump. he was very critical of your record in ohio among things saying that you supported nafta. how do you respond to what he said? >> well, we're up over 400,000 jobs. we're one of the fastest-growing states in america. i've cut taxes by more than any sitting governor. we're running a $2 billion surplus. our credit is rock solid. our pensions are very strong and we've left no one behind. we've helped the mentally ill, the drug addicted, the working poor, and, you know, this is the same formula i used when i was chairman of the budget committee and we balanced the budget in washington and saw a tremendous growth in jobs so both in washington and in ohio i've used the same formula. we have come out of the very bad

situation here and we're doing really, really well and the numbers speak for themselves, and, look, this is the way it is on election eve, all the time, and, you know, as arnold schwarzenegger told me years ago, "john, in politics you have to learn to love the beatings," and i do. just another election. >> and the numbers are in your favor right now. some of the polls are showing you at a slight lead over trump. >> we're going to win in ohio. we've got great momentum. >> it is a must win -- is it a make or break? do you have to win ohio? >> yeah, we have to win -- we're going to win ohio. don't worry about it. you'll see tonight. we're going to win ohio. we're going to do better in illinois than anybody thinks and i'm going to be campaigning all across this country. we're getting momentum and, for the first time, i've been getting attention here in the last couple of weeks and a lot of people in ohio watched me in the debates and they would say how come they don't ask kasich any questions. well, finally, i'm starting to get some time and we feel very good.

our ground game is terrific and, look, i have about a 79% approval rating among republicans in ohio, and i think they're just rewarding two things -- one is a good record and, secondly, the fact that i've run an unwaveringly positive campaign. i'm not going to take the low road to the white house as we've seen some do. >> and, sir, how difficult has that been? we have seen mayhem. we have seen violence. we have seen name-calling and you have stayed above the fray. how difficult has that been or has it? >> well, it's not been difficult because i have an obligation to the 11.5 million people who live in ohio, and, of course, to my family. i have two 16-year-old daughters and when i look at the things that i saw at that rally and i see in rallies and the rhetoric, it's disgraceful, frankly. i mean, we're not a country that spends its time slugging each other in the aisles or where the people who want to lead the

country are insulting every group that he faces. i mean, they're blasting these images all over the world and i'm sure people are shaking their heads, saying, what's happening to america? so, it's been very easy for me to be positive because i think you win with vision. i think you win the trump voter as somebody who has a record and accomplishments and a vision. i think today, you know, when politicians' lips move people think they're lying, and the reason i talk about my record is because i want everybody to examine it. i want everybody to understand that i have done these things. these are not just promises, these are things that i've accomplished and the people of the state are better off as a result, and when i was in washington, the people and the country were better off as a result so i'm very happy with what we've done. >> i know as i said it's a very busy, important day. we really appreciate you joining us this morning, governor kasich, thank you. >> all right, give my best to george. >> oh, he's right here. >> i'm right here, governor. >> he's never far behind. >> believe it or not, we already have our first results from the

day. also, a contest in the northern mariana islands, and donald trump has won all nine delegates. hillary clinton's campaign hard at work in pompano beach, florida, and bernie sanders' campaign out there, as well, in north carolina. and hillary hopes to win in florida and north carolina but bernie sanders pushing hard for upsets across the midwest and abc's cecilia vega in chicago with the latest. good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you. voting is under way. this may be the state where hillary clinton was born, but bernie sanders is hoping for a big win here and today he needs not just to win some states, he needs to win some delegates. in this race to the finish, bernie sanders on a whirlwind tour. on monday alone stopping in four of the five states voting today. his final stop, chicago. >> let us see this great state lead the country into a political revolution. >> reporter: hillary clinton making a campaign pit stop of her own overnight in north carolina. >> you know, i had to come back to charlotte because i love the name.

>> reporter: but this morning there is trouble on the horizon in ohio where sanders is encroaching on clinton's lead. >> people saying bernie sanders winning ohio, no way. well, guess what, we have a good vote tomorrow, people come out. we're going to win here in ohio. >> reporter: a buckeye state loss while not enough to block clinton's path to the nomination would be an embarrassing setback. >> i am asking for your support. i would be honored to receive it. i hope to be your nominee. >> reporter: and while both candidates have their hopes on pulling off a victory today, in dueling town halls overnight, their focus was all about donald trump. >> we have a major candidate for president of the united states, donald trump, who is literally inciting violence among his supporters. >> people remember mob violence that led to lynching.

>> reporter: to get a sense of how these candidates are feeling about today, look no further than where they go tonight. hillary clinton goes to florida where she's got that double-digit lead and hoping for a victory party and bernie sanders goes to arizona, george, where they vote next week. >> he's looking ahead. cecilia, thanks very much. let's talk about this now with our political team, jon karl and matthew dowd, and, jon, let me begin with you and the democrats. i think the clinton campaign bracing for another night like last tuesday where they got beat in michigan. it's close now in ohio, in missouri, in illinois. could set up this kind of situation where she wins more delegates but also has real weaknesses revealed. >> reporter: that's right. i mean, that was a complete shock in michigan, one of the biggest upsets we have seen. bernie sanders is in a much stronger position now in ohio and missouri and illinois than he was going into michigan so he could easily come out of today actually winning more states but, again, not necessarily winning more delegates because hillary clinton is poised to win very big in florida and north carolina. >> and, matt, on the republican

side you saw donald trump. he said he'll talk to me about a contested convention tomorrow. will we be talking about that tomorrow? >> well, today being march 15th i recall shakespeare and julius caesar said beware the ides of march. someone is going to be julius caesar. it's likely to be the establishment candidate. if donald trump sweeps there won't be a contested convention. if donald trump loses one of the big ones, and it looks like it's to be ohio, the contested convention is coming our way and we'll have an unbelievable time, the republicans will and us in the media in ohio in cleveland when that comes but, i think tonight what's going to happen is the last bastion of the establishment is probably going to lose and that's what is amazing about the race. >> we'll see what happens and i'll be here with our team for live updates as the election results come in. now today's other top headlines from amy. americans will be allowed to individually visit cuba as it's for educational reason not just tourism. rules announced today will allow

>> reporter: and police now releasing this dash cam video showing his capture. investigators say dalton, an uber driver, went on a shooting spree three weeks ago killing six. just look, it's a calm arrest. he gets out of the car, is handcuffed and police take him away. >> one detained, firearm on a person at 41 minutes. >> reporter: and now new details from dalton's police interview. after his arrest the 45-year-old allegedly telling them that uber literally took over his mind and body and made him feel like a puppet. dalton allegedly going on to describe the uber logo as a devil figure, quote, it would give you an assignment and it would literally take over your whole body. it was almost like artificial intelligence that can tap into your body." this morning, the youngest shooting victim, 14-year-old abigail kopf is still in the hospital. this photo from her go fund me page showing her laughing surrounded by her sister and her stuffed animals. and when the shooting first happened uber said it was

correctional center where o.j.'s serving a 30-year sentence for kidnapping and armed robbery. >> he thinks nevada is making up for california and that because california couldn't convict him on the murders that they convicted him on some bs charges as o.j. would say. >> reporter: infamous for beating murder charges in the deaths of his ex-wife nicole brown simpson and her friend ron goldman, simpson, who's up for parole next year, argued he's been a model prisoner at a parole board hearing in 2013. >> i have not had any incidences despite all the stories in the tabloids and everything. i haven't had one incident. >> reporter: felix says even though he hasn't seen simpson since he retired in november, he heard from a contact how o.j. reacted to news of a knife found at his former estate that investigators are now examining. >> o.j. thinks the knife thing is a complete joke and he wants to know why it was held on to for 18 years before it was turned in and now he has a saying that he says all over the yard, he jokingly says, if the knife is rusted, i can't be

busted. >> reporter: but even the man who calls o.j. his prison bff says he believes he's guilty of the 1994 murders. >> o.j. told me one time that only two people alive know who committed the brentwood murders, him and al cowlings. al cowlings was the one that drove the white bronco and was o.j. best friend. when o.j. was washing his hands and looked in the mirror i said, juice, you just solved the brentwood murders. you're looking at the murderer right in the mirror. and he just gave me a glare. he kind of gave me a dirty look and he shrugged it off a little bit. >> reporter: now, o.j. simpson's lawyer tells us that, according to o.j., any relationship between felix and him is "wildly exaggerated" and in most instances blatantly false denying felix even worked in simpson's unit. the department of corrections says he did work at lovelace but did not indicate where and felix says he stands behind his book.

three days, authorities have subdued an uprising at this prison in alabama. inmates set a fire and stabbed a warden. then barricaded themselves in a dorm for hours, critics blame overcrowding and low staffing. well, police in philadelphia are searching for a man who stole a minivan with a 4-month-old baby inside. the suspect was caught on this store's surveillance video. the baby's father had left his engine running outside when he realized the van was stolen he frantically texted his phone which was still in the van, thankfully the suspect texted him back and told him where he dropped the baby off on a sidewalk. ooh, the child was not harmed. in business news avon is cutting 2,500 jobs. the struggling cosmetics company is moving its headquarters to britain, although it will remain incorporated in new york for tax purposes. and the women's march madness tournament set for friday's tip-off. the number one seeds are undefeated uconn, south

carolina, notre dame and baylor. uconn is seeking an unprecedented fourth consecutive national title. this is the tenth year in a row that uconn has been that top seed but, robin, you already knew that. i'm not telling you anything that you don't already know. >> fourth and 11th overall they're going for, amy, as you know. you can see all the action on espn. but now to an important health alert for allergy sufferers. all that unseasonably warm weather means pollen counts are on the rise across the u.s. the red shows where it is worse. abc's chief news editor and medical editor dr. richard besser is here to break it all down. we were just talking about it being in the middle of cold and flu season. now allergy. how can you tell the difference? >> well, it can be tricky because viruses are still here and pollen levels are starting to rise. if you're sneezing and have watery eyes, it could be both. but there are some things to tell the difference. if you have clear runny nose that goes to yellow and body aches it's more likely a cold.

if you have itchy scratchy eyes and it goes on and on, it's more likely to be allergies. >> if you haven't shown symptoms yet, anything to keep it at bay. >> a number of things. first thing i say is suck it up and shut it out so the suck it up is use a vacuum cleaner with a hepa filter to sock up the pollen around the house, floor, rugs. and shutting it out. so nice to open the window and let the breeze in, that brings in all the pollen. so, close your windows. clean your air-conditioning filter and that will help a lot. take it off. when you come in from the outside, take a shower, change your clothes. that's going to get the pollen off your body off and stay on track. you can track pollen levels online. weather sites all have them and when levels are high stay indoors especially the morning when they're high. >> what if you're already showing symptoms, what do you do? >> yeah, so, make sure your prescriptions are filled and check in with your doctor if what you did last year didn't

instagram posts. abc's rebecca jarvis here with the details. >> reporter: ftc is taking aim at a hugely successful ad campaign, instagram posts, blogs, even what appears to be a news article online. it was all to promote a new line of dresses, the problem, according to regulators, lord & taylor didn't make it clear the whole thing was a paid advertisement. it's an expertly executed ad campaign, 50 of the hottest fashion bloggers all in the same paisley dress all over instagram paid as much as $4,000 each to post these pics on the same day. rachel lynch and rachel got the dress for free and among the trend setters behind the ad blitz, lord & taylor. >> they reached out and said we have this dress from design lab and we want to send it to 50 influencers and see how they style it and promote it. >> and they had us all post at the same time between 12 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. and then post it

tagging lord & taylor. >> reporter: the campaign, a huge success. lord & taylor selling out of the dress almost immediately. the photobomb reaching more than 11 million instagram users in just two days. but this morning, regulators are calling into question the retail giant's tactics. >> consumers are looking at posts on instagram, they have no idea and they think this person whose fashion sense i value likes this dress and they don't know that it's there because lord & taylor paid the influencer. >> reporter: the ftc settling charges saying lord & taylor violated federal law claiming the department store giant duped customers by failing to disclose it paid for the posts in exchange for endorsements. do you think your followers know that you get paid for these posts? >> yeah, i think now like blogging is like an understood thing as a career. i wouldn't say like every single person knows, but a majority does now. >> reporter: in a statement lord & taylor telling "good morning america" "when it came to our attention that there were

potential issues we took immediate action to ensure that clear disclosures were made. we cooperated fully with the ftc's inquiry into this matter. there is no indication of wrongdoing whatsoever." now, the bloggers which are not accused of any misconduct were asked by lord & taylor within a week after the original post went out to include #ad in their photos they did include that and they did say their people, the people that follow them, they know they're authentic and true to their core and knew what they were getting. let's talk to tory johnson about this right now. lord & taylor did the right thing here? >> absolutely. in terms of complying with whatever the ftc has asked them to comply with, the law is the law, and it's designed to help protect consumers to make them aware of when someone is being paid to make an endorsement or a recommendation. >> we should say you do the "deals & steals" every week. never paid. >> we are never paid by the companies. i'm paid by abc, not by the companies we feature. it's a service we provide to viewers and i think it's really important that "a," we follow the law so bloggers have to

ton of fun doing accessories so, yeah. >> okay, well, we kind of tried to re-create your closet. let's go make a walk over here. this is pretty much your closet at home? >> it looks very similar to my closet, yes, you guys did a great job. >> way to go, props. you said the white blazer is like a must have and you can do so many different things with it. >> yes, so i love the white blazer because it's versatile and can be worn with literally anything. in my book i actually show different pictures how i wear it. you can wear it with a romper or a dress, a sweet feminine look. you can do it with distressed jeans to dress up any jean outfit. >> i love it with the jeans. >> or i think for a great nighttime, sort of a sexy look you can throw it on with leather pants. >> ooh. okay. three different looks like that with one blazer. >> yes. >> then, you know, there's some go-tos in every woman's closet. some essentials. what are yours? >> absolutely. i love a great pair of nude heels because when worn with a dress or a skirt, they just really elongate your legs. i'm only 5'3"

greatest gladiator match in the history of the world. god versus man. day versus night. son of krypton versus bat of gotham. >> ooh, so good, jesse, but i have to ask you, taking on the iconic villain lex luthor, was that intimidating at all for you? >> it was both intimidating and kind of a great honor because the role is really wonderful, and it provided a kind of great challenge as an actor and, you know, with the character like that and then this clip it's kind of hard to see he has like real emotional core and that he has his own feelings about things, but that's the challenge of it is to kind of provide this evil character with a real emotional personal center. >> oh, there are so many layers that you brought to lex luthor which were so fascinating to watch on the screen. isn't it fun to play someone evil? it's kind of fun, isn't it? >> yes, you get to do all these things that in person you'd be arrested for or killed, you know, yelling at bigger people. stealing. >> right, i mean, speaking to

that, you're actually going up against superman and batman. i mean, what was that like in real terms on the set with henry cavill and ben affleck? >> yes, kind of i got to take out all these feelings in high school being around the football team and not screaming at them and forcing them to wear capes, my two dreams and in this movie, i got to accomplish both of them. >> and there was a lot of improvising. >> the script is written by this guy named chris terrio. brilliant writer, so didn't really want to change a lot of his stuff but there was a feeling of like to make it our own and make these characters feel kind of fresh and original. >> it's so great, and it's so top secret. i mean, any of us who have seen it had to sign nondisclosures and it was so secret, you actually had to be in disguise when walking to the set? >> yes. >> we have some pictures, i think. >> oh, really? >> you're channeling your inner laura ingalls. >> that wasn't disguise. that's just how i go outside. i just am lamenting, you know,

kind of the south and, yes, that's my antebellum look. no, no, yeah, because i had this wig on, and lex luthor is notoriously bald and so they didn't want to reveal my character has hair so i had to wear that for months. as great it is to feel that you're playing this cool role in this great movie, it's incredibly emasculating walking to your work in a kind of old handkerchief. >> very funny so that is a wig. it's not -- that was my next question. was that actually your hair that you grew out? >> i signed as many nondisclosures agreements as you signed, i signed more and can't reveal but there are great -- like my character changes personalities and visual looks, and so the visual look is a redundant thing so i can't say anything. >> all right. that's fair enough. fair enough. so what do you do after playing lex luthor? what are you working on now? >> oh, i wrote like books, i was on a book tour for the last several months and, you know -- >> there's that little woody allen movie that you're in. >> i did a woody allen movie too

and it's the strangest thing, we did this movie like a year and a half ago and then you work on other things and then coming back to it now is really fun but also you feel a bit disconnected to it and also actors have an unusual amount of down time so i try to occupy myself. >> well, but you told me even despite the down time, you have not watched yourself in this film yet. >> yeah. >> are you going to? >> no, i -- you know, i try to avoid it because it's like -- you know, it's like hearing yourself on your answering machine. or something. maybe that doesn't exist anymore. no one has answering managers >> i know what you're talking about. nour voice never sounds like you think it does when it's played back. >> when you play it back. it's like that times a million. because not only criticizing your stupid face but your voice sounds weird and everybody about you, and, so, yeah, i'm critical. everybody is critical. >> i'll tell you, you're fantastic in this film, and i understand you were actually slated originally to play another role? >> well, they asked me, yeah, originally to play another role and i didn't think i could do it and i think maybe i was rude to the director in saying i
