translated, that means, what's up, cuba? he's looking forward to meeting and hearing directly from the cuban people. and david muir has an exclusive interview with the president. good morning, david. >> good morning robin from havana. history made here in cuba. president obama touching down here. the first president since calvin coolidge in 1928 to visit cuba. this visit does not come without controversy. i asked president obama about a visit to cuba more than a year ago overnight explaining to me why the time is right. the president and first lady and their daughters coming off air force one in havana cuba. an image unimaginable and just a short time after touching down our interview with the president. >> we meet in cuba. >> how about that. >> how about that. you know, as you're aware when we spoke last time more than a year ago i asked if you would be visiting cuba before the end of your presidency and you said

let's see how things evolve. >> right. >> why now? >> the time is right. knowing that change wasn't going to happen overnight. what we have already seen is the reopening of the embassy. although we have significant differences inside of cuba we felt that coming now would maximize our ability to prompt more change. >> but you have said when you visit countries around the world that they put a fresh coat of paint up. is there any concern cuba is doing that here? what are you looking for for progress? >> there's no doubt that the cuban government is still a one party state exerting control and is stifling dissent.

>> he's already searing cuban entrepreneurs blossom. >> you hear them saying if we don't lift the embargo other countries will get the deals. >> there's no doubt we have work to do and part is bringing an end to the embargo that is currently in place. >> does that happen during your presidency? >> it may not happen between now and then particularly since we're in election year but it is inevitable. >> you see the young people all gathered on the street corners to borrow the wi-fi. fewer than 5% here have access to the internet. >> that's part of why the changes can be so significant and one of the things we'll be announcing is that google has a deal. to set up more wi-fi and broadband access on the island. >> reporter: how quickly does that change a country? >> well, you know, change is going to happen here and i think

that raul castro understands that. >> the president telling us change is coming to cuba and adding raul castro knows that. president obama will meet with president castro and i asked him if he'll be blunt with president castro. he said he'll be talking about human rights and about the freedoms for ordinary cubans here. robin. >> you referred to the meeting with raul castro later today. he did not greet the cuban president -- did not greet president obama at the airport and many critics are making note of that, david. >> reporter: that's right robin. making global headlines. there were a number of dignitaries waiting to welcome the first family, president obama when he landed in havana but raul castro was not among them and many believe that's because a delicate dance being played out. he wants to remain firm on this island nation while at the same

time the people welcoming this first family with open arms. >> delicate, indeed. thank you so much. more of your exclusive in the next hour and more on "world news tonight." george, you'll be anchoring special coverage later this morning. >> right around 11:00 a.m. >> to the nasty spring storm more than a dozen states facing freezing temperatures as far as florida and new jersey to maine and many facing a messy commute. good morning rob. >> reporter: good morning, george. welcome to spring. how about this. after a relatively mild winter compared to last year the first day of spring has a snowstorm covering boston. >> the mass turnpike outside of the city where traffic is moving slow. the roads, the big ones are slushy. over 3,000 crews or nearly 3,000 crews that are battling this snowstorm with salt and plows. several inches. schools are closed for an extended weekend. good for snowball fights but the

northern california to points north. a lot of rain and some high elevation snow. some places in the sierra could see about 14 inches of snow. george. >> thanks sam. the race for the white house now. as anther weekend of protests at rallies for donald trump. i pressed donald trump to condemn the protests. all of this major policy speeches among the top candidates in washington today. votes in key states tomorrow. abc's tom llamas here with the latest. >> reporter: donald trump and the other gop candidates head to d.c. today to address aipac, the powerful lobbying organization for israel. trump expected to meet with republican leaders before his address as he tries to improve relations with gop powerbrokers. this morning, donald trump's campaign changing the way they handle scenes like this. violent outbursts at campaign rallies. over the weekend, in tucson, a protester punched and stomped as he was led out by security.

>> this was an african-american man and his family that were there to listen to me speak. they couldn't hear me speak because of the commotion being made by very few people. >> reporter: trump telling george on "this week" the protesters are not innocent lambs. >> at what point do the people blame the protesters. these are people that are professional -- >> so you're blaming the protesters, not the person that actually kicked the protester. >> no, i'm saying these are professional agitators. and they should be blamed there, too. >> reporter: the campaign manager the man in the gray suit was caught on tape grabbing a protester by the collar. trump defending his top aide. >> i give him credit. he wanted them to take down those powerful profanity-laced signs. >> reporter: this is the second time he has been accused of getting physical at a rally. his campaign saying they'll be dedicating additional security resources to larger events in the future to prevent staff from having to intervene. ♪

♪ donald, stand by me >> reporter: overnight, trump hosting palm beach republicans at his mar-a-lago resort. including dr. ben carson. but ted cruz and john kasich showing no signs of giving up. >> i have the experience and the record to lead this country trump fighting another war, this time against fox news' megyn kelly. going on a twitter tirade calling her overrated, crazy and sick. fox news firing back, defending kelly, saying trump's extreme sick obsession with her is beneath the dignity of a presidential candidate. both trump and senator cruz addressed the president's trip to cuba. trump saying obama's trip was amateur hour because raul castro didn't greet him at the airport. and cruz saying he would only visit a free cuba. george. let's talk with matt dowd.

let's talk about some votes tomorrow. arizona and utah. the big votes for republicans. trump favored in arizona. utah becoming must-win for ted cruz. >> cruz wants 50%. if he gets more than 50% he wins all the delegates. that's an interesting dynamic here. it's like a high-stakes risk board, where they're moving armies around and having alliances in some places and fighting each other in other places. i think john kasich and donald trump's strategy in utah is to keep ted cruz under 50% so he can't get all the delegates. that's the dynamic going on in this race right now. >> a dynamic going inside the republican party, about 100-day plan by anti-trump agitators who want to stop him from getting the delegates he needs before the convention, but time is running short. >> well, i think, george, we have seen over the course of this last year the republican party, republican establishment

has had various plans in the course of this of how to stop donald trump in this. right now, donald trump looks to be, if things proceed, has the odds on to win the delegates. a lot depends on tomorrow night. you're right, time is running out for the republican party in this. tomorrow night is a good indication of what's going to happen in this race. but they'll have a hard time stopping him before the convention. >> wisconsin will become a must-win for the anti-trump forces if they're going to have any hope. >> absolutely. absolutely. now to chilly new information about the paris terror attack suspect. in custody this morning, officials say there may have been new attacks in the work and he had the people and the weapons to do it. abc's alex marquardt is in brussels with the latest. >> reporter: this morning, belgian authorities are worried about the arrest of salah abdeslam can activate other terrorist cells. according to a security minister.

they believe he was planning more attacks with the help of a support network that's bigger than they originally thought. this morning, new video of the dramatic raid that captured abdeslam. heavily armed s.w.a.t. teams slowly approaching a house in molenbeek suddenly as a man sprints out and tries to flee but is shot and taken down. then another suspect also shot and led away. now, salah abdeslam is being pressed by belgian interrogators to reveal more. about the paris attacks and other plots in the works. he was ready to restart something in brussels, belgium's foreign minister said after a large of cache of weapons was fond in a raid last tuesday. and new evidence of a new broad support network. right under the noses of the police. >> the real key from this arrest is the opportunity to interrogate abdeslam. to find out more about his ties to isis. >> reporter: abdeslam is

frightened and weak. his lawyer has insisted to a belgian newspaper. already, abdeslam has revealed he wasn't meant to be the only surviving terrorist of the november attacks. he was supposed to be among the team of suicide bombers that he drove to the germany/france game. but he backed out. ditching his suicide vest and calling accomplices to come pick him up and take him to belgium. belgian authorities tell us this morning the arrest could trigger a new attack or make the terrorist go to ground and wait for the pressure to ease up. the alert in belgium hasn't been raised yet. but european officials say the likelihood of new attacks is very high. >> something to keep in mind. alex, thank you. now to amy with the other headlines. breaking news out of north korea. >> north korea fired off five missiles overnight, all landing in sea. this morning's launching come as u.s. and south korea hold their largest joint exercise. north korea says those drills are rehearsal for invasion.

the pentagon is sending several hundred marines to iraq in the battle against isis. they're headed to a base that came under attack by isis over the weekend. killing a marine from southern california. experts from the u.s. are helping russia as it investigates this weekend's horrific plane crash, all 62 aboard the flight were killed when it nose-dived into the ground at an airport during strong winds. it nearly disintegrated on impact. overnight, russian investigators saying they're having trouble reading the data from those damaged black boxes. this is 20,000 pounds of illegal fireworks going up in smoke. after the atf ordered they all be destroyed. to another first family have welcomed another member. bald eagle parents had a lot to chirp about. the second of their babies came

hours before awarding him $115 million. once the verdict was read, hulk hogan bursting into tears and hugging his legal team. >> this is not only his victory but also anyone else who has been victimized by tabloid journalism. >> reporter: earlier in the trial, hogan telling the jury the tape that showed him having sex in 2007 with then-wife of his best friend at the time, bubba clem, turned his world upside-down. >> completely humiliating. >> reporter: in closing arguments his lawyer portraying gawk founder as a danger to society. >> everybody is some sort of a public figure. privacy invasion has a positive effect on society. who thinks like that. >> reporter: but gawker says hogan made his sex life news. giving them first amendment protection. >> giving the key evidence and

the most important witness in this case were withheld from the jury, we all knew that this -- the appeals court would need to resolve this case. >> reporter: denton is referring to bubba clem the judge would not let him testify because of his plans to plead the fifth. early on he said hogan knew he was being recorded and then later changed his story. gawker wants all of that considered in his appeal. robin. >> all right, linzie. thank you very much. joining us on what's next, dan abrams. lot of people talking about this. what do you make of the verdict? >> it's a crazy verdict. no matter how much you hate gawker and you side with hulk hogan, $115 million verdict before the punitive damages, meaning before the point where they're supposed to be punishing gawker makes no sense. the idea that they're giving economic damages in this case to hulk hogan, $55 million that he

supposedly suffered economically as a result of this makes no sense. so, i think they've got a very good chance of getting this reduced significantly on appeal. >> gawker has a good case for the appeal. >> yes. lot of people saying, no, problem, they'll go to the appellate court and they're going to throw this out. i'm not so sure. if i'm gawker i'm still incredibly nervous and concerned. yes, i'm confident that an appellate court will reduce the amount of this verdict. $115 million to $40 million. when it comes to economic and emotional damages. gawker is still in big trouble. the phase we're about to see the next day or so, where they'll punish them. >> that phase is? >> the punitive damages. it's supposed to be the time where they reward hogan with what he deserves and time to punish gawker with money. it seems pretty clear they have punished gawker with a lot of

money. >> lot of people are saying, hey, this is great news if you're worried about these tabloids being able to say anything about you and you're saying, maybe not -- so fast. >> i think this is going to have a big impact on anyone trying to publish a sex tape. that's going to be the impact it's going to have but we'll have to see what happens. >> people are wanting to watch -- >> lot of people are celebrating. the number doesn't make any sense. >> gotcha. >> it was eye-opening. thanks very much. a survival story now about two teens on spring break lucky to be alive after the engine in their plane gave out and they crash landed. they're speaking out about the terrifying moments. abc's kendis gibson has the story. >> several occupants and it looks like they're getting out of the plane but injured. >> reporter: this morning, two high school students recounting their spring break nightmare. >> i didn't know what to do. what was going on.

the first thing i thought about was my parents. >> reporter: certified pilot 17-year-old christian dell and his girlfriend saved up money to rent the small aircraft for a few days of fun in nashville. the couple seen here calm and in control during the hour and 45 minute return home. it was all smooth sailing until the last leg of the flight. >> it just started sputtering and it ultimately failed. >> i was just looking at him and just trusting he knew what to do. i prayed to god we were going to be okay. >> reporter: in an instant his emergency training kicked in. dodging homes, trees and power lines. crash-landing on the 14th hole of a golf course. >> he did his job and that's how we're kind of alive this morning. >> the pilot did an excellent job of what he did. >> reporter: residents who witnessed the rough landing rushed to their aid. the teens rushed to the hospital suffering concussions with cuts and bruises. they're expected to be okay. >> i kept telling him you're okay.

thankfully this time no one was hurt. but this morning, a warning for all of us. >> i thought the plane was going to up in flames. >> reporter: this morning, these images of anna crail's charred iphone showing the aftermath of a mid-air scare. the 19-year-old on her way to honolulu said he was watching a movie on her apple iphone 6. when it bursts into flames eight inches hi. >> my mom yelled to get the extinguisher. >> they were like, oh, my gosh, they didn't know what to expect, either. >> reporter: the fire quickly extinguished. this morning the faa is investigating how it happened. the likely culprit the lithium-ion battery powering her phone. the agency testing the potential dangers of overheated batteries on planes. cautioning airlines about explosions like this when batteries shipped in cargo self-ignite. while they're rare they do happen. tony olson telling abc news,

he and his brother together have ruled cuba together with an iron fist for nearly six decades. you see the president now approaching the palace. inside an honor guard of the cuban military. the president will also be meeting with president raul castro later today, holding a joint press statement, press availability as well, before a state dinner tonight. as we watch the president i'm joined by "world news" anchor david muir. you met with the president yesterday. you'll have an exclusive interview tonight. as we keep our eye on the president, we are hear from david later. but we are about to see president obama greeted there by raul castro. there's president raul castro and president obama together for this moment of history.

jon karl in cuba as well. a long time coming for this meeting. >> reporter: it sure has been, george. and you know it's a meeting that also shows one thing that is yet to be done here with the president's policy. when he announced this dramatic change, re-opening diplomatic relations with cuba, he said that he would visit this country if there were signs of improvement to the human rights situation, and frankly, one thing we have not seen since diplomatic relations have been re-established is any improvement. in fact, 50 dissidents were arrested just a few miles from here. human rights groups say 25 dissidents were arrested in this country just in the first two months of this year. as the president makes this historic visit here, meeting face-to-face with raul castro here in havana, this is still a country that is very much a one-party state, a country where

it is dangerous to be critical of the government. >> and david muir spoke with the president yesterday and will sit down with him today after he meets with president castro. what do you expect to be the focus of that meeting? >> reporter: listen, he told me that he's going to be very frank with president castro. the meeting will be a private one where the president said that raul castro already understands that change is coming to cuba, george. the only question is how much president castro can actually control the pace of that. and the real test here will be the president's historic speech on live television here to the cuban people. i asked the president how strongly he would word that speech, will he take on their president during that speech, will there be a berlin wall moment. he told me that essentially that wall moment has happened here. business has begun to open up, entrepreneurs are blossoming, but he said expect him to be very honest with the cuban people that there needs to be reform here when it comes to human rights and the freedoms of

ordinary cuban people, george. >> jim avila also in havana. the president starting this process back in december 2014 with his opening up to cuba. you visited cuba more than 35 times in the last 20 years. what are the hopes there for the kind of changes that will follow? >> reporter: i think there's a lot of hope, george. in fact, when the cuban people see the pictures they're seeing today, it will have quite an impression. remember, this is a president from the united states. the united states for years has been trying to topple the castros. in fact, there have been -- this is just 50 years since the bay of pigs when the united states officially tried to overthrow this government, and now you have riding down the mol acohn of cuba, president obama welcomed by raul castro who was one of the generals who was trying to fight the americans just 55 years ago. this is quite an impression that's being made on the cuban people today. they have a lot of hope for more freedom, but as we've heard,

>> the president said that he believes it's time for this visit. as you know, 88 years. the last president to be here. calvin coolidge in 1928. the president is aware of the criticism from some who believe it's too early, the embargo should not be lifted but he says the help already arrived is helping ordinary cubans and he's going to make that a part of his message when he talks to the cuban people, a historic moment tomorrow. i asked him how far he'll press this president and he said he'll be very honest with him and of course before that speech even happens a private meeting with president raul castro today. an honest meeting. we'll sit down with president obama right after that. >> we will be looking for that on "world news tonight" as we seeing the president being greeted by members of his own delegation. susan rice greeting raul castro. the secretary of commerce as well. jon karl also in cuba right now.

john, the president under some fairly heavy criticism especially the republican candidates for right tackle. >> reporter: from republicans and also from some of his own party. this is a dramatic change in u.s. policy to see a president here on the ground in cuba all smiles with cuban president raul castro. the pressure that the president has been under is this happens despite the fact there's been no tangible progress on issues of human rights. you have had a number of dissidents arrested in the past 24 hours, 50 arrested at a demonstration not far from here. you know, you have a situation where the president when he opened -- made this dramatic move to re-establish diplomatic relations, reopened the embassy here in cuba he said he would make a trip here but it would be to highlight progress on issues of liberty and freedom for ordinary cubans. that progress has not been seen here yet in havana. that's something the president

is under criticism for. the argument the white house makes is that this is the way to press for progress is to engage the cuban people and government. >> let's talk more about the cuban people. jim avila has visited cuba so many times over the last 20 years. what are they seeing in this visit by president obama? >> reporter: i think the cubans are hoping that they're seeing hope in president obama. he's probably the most popular politician in cuba, more popular that fidel or raul castro. what they're seeing on their tv screens is an american president shaking hands, smiling along with raul castro, certainly amazing. >> we'll have more tonight with david muir and the interview with president obama as we're live on the west coast for "gma." but now we'll go back to sam champion bringing us the weather. >> just pause it's spring.

♪ you know that voice. adele. mesmerizing performance when we were young. >> wow. >> that was at the recent brit awards. the star, though, is facing unwelcome attention this morning reportedly becoming the latest victim of online hacking. her private photos posted online and jesse palmer is here with the latest on that. good morning, jesse. >> reporter: adele's attack is another in a series of celeb hacks. a huge invasion on this famously private star's life. ♪ hello >> reporter: this morning, global pop sensation, adele the newest victim of an alleged photo hacking scandal. her private photos, reportedly stolen and posted to a fan page on facebook. according to the sun, the leak include extremely personal photographs taken during her pregnancy.

an ultra sound scan and newborn photos of her now 3-year-old son. the british paper reporting that one of adele's fans came across the photos and decided to alert the adele's management team. saying i was appalled and upset when i saw the pictures. they are really private and should not be passed around. the report also claims that adele's photos were obtained from the e-mail of her boyfriend, simon konecki. adele isn't the first celebrity targeted by hackers. the #annescicloud after vacation photos of harry stiles and kendall jenner were allegely stolen and leaked online saturday. in 2014 a major hack leaked racy photos to the public. targeting more than 100 celebs including jennifer lawrence and kate upton. the fbi is still investigating

this case. one of the person responsible, pleading guilty of felony. facing anywhere from 18 months to 5 years behind bars. ♪ >> reporter: while adele is known for letting her voice take center stage she's kept her personal life far from the spotlight. she even battled the paparazzi back in 2014 after photos taken over her and her son and won. >> she works very hard to keep her private life private. this was a major violation for her. >> it will be interested to see how the handles this situation going forward. >> reporter: it is unclear if she's taking any legal action. representatives from adele declined to comment on the matter. pretty scary stuff. you think all the private information that we have on our phones and our computers. obviously this is something that can happen to any of us. robin now has more on how to keep your information safe online. joining us more is becky worley and abc senior legal

correspondent sunny hostin. let's start with becky first out in san francisco, what can you do to protect yourself? >> good morning, robin. most of us aren't as famous as adel but identity theft each year and revenge hacking on the rise, security matters. so, let's start with the cloud. all pictures and your data backed up to the internet. it's a life-saver if you lose your phone, but that account can be access from anyone from anywhere who can guess your password. tip one, your google and apple pass words need to be rock solid. this is important. so much hacking is done by people you know. so, lock down your security questions. shouldn't be the town you were born in or your mom's maiden name. >> you know, i never thought about that. you try to make it easy for yourself. if you're doing it, you're making it easy for somebody

else's as well. we're heard that the adele's boyfriend, it was his phone where the photos were hacked. >> e-mail is a particularly point of vulnerability. but not because of any technical weakness. hackers send phony links to people in e-mails. they go to fake websites that are made just to steal logon credentials and passwords. tip number two, never click a link that comes in an e-mail. even if it look like it from apple, google. or your bank for that matter. >> and a tip from facebook. >> i am shocked at the number of people who have their facebook set too public meaning anyone cn see them. tip three, you have got to set your facebook account to friends only. instagram and twitter they're public. >> all right, becky, thank you when a picture of his dog was enlarged and his home address could be read on the dog's collar.

>> all right, becky, thank you very much. going to be bring in sunny now. from a legal perspective, what can we do? >> we have seen it over and over recently. hulk hogan gets over $100 million because someone leaked his sex tape online. we see erin andrews get over $50 million for the same behavior. the law often times doesn't catch up with technology. people should know the law is catching up now with technology. people will be held accountable for this kind of behavior. >> it's out there in the internet. is there anything we can do? >> once it's out there it's out there. that's why we're seeing juries coming back giving these astonishing jury awards because we know once it's out there you can't get it down. it's not just celebrities that the law is going to protect. everyday people are going to be protected. laws about revenge porn. i think all over the country, we're seeing laws crop up. people will be protected.

>> tacos are delicious. week three is no sodium. we eat too much sodium in our diet. so, right here, we'll go from tacos, we're going to do a low sodium or a no-salt seasoning. and then change it to lettuce -- >> i love lettuce wraps. the fourth one may be the hardest. >> unfortunately, week four is cutting back on alcohol. alcohol is not our friend as much as we may think it is. >> it's a good acquaintance. >> we want to cut it back two, three a week. >> i can do that. >> we can all do that. we just have to decide we want to. >> you want to talk about the exercise. we'll walk this way. all these folks have been doing your exercises. amy, don't leave me alone over here. you've got to help me. so, what are you supposed to do. they have a name. >> this is tabata, a four-minute

high intensity workout. 20-second exercise followed by 10 seconds of rest. round one, they'll do it for 20 seconds. they have a jab cross. solid body. >> this is great for your shoulders. working some lats as well. >> working your core. >> i can see them squeeze their core. >> you do it with or without weights. 20 seconds on it. round two, we got jumping lunges. go down into a lunge form, jump and switch. >> not in these pants i'm not, it's the morning show. not in these pants i'm not. >> perfect form is important. you don't want to get injured. >> this one looks more complicated. there's moves in this. >> this is the gator hops. we're jumping side by side. staying down nice and low. for a modified version, you can touch your toe to the back. that's 20 seconds there.

that's round three. >> we want swim suit gluts. >> nice toned booty. >> what's on the last -- >> we have sumo squat jumps with air tap. tap your toes. more modified, jump in and touch. this one, nice and low, it will work your inner thighs, too. >> none of these are too complicated. you can get these and do them really quick. i got to say, everybody's smiling. usually in a workout segment everybody looks pained. >> that's the first four rounds. >> thank you. >> you're welcome. >> repeat each one one more time. this is so, now, you guys -- my book has easier ones. this is more advanced. beginner from advanced. >> i'm ready to go. >> let's get ready for bikini season. erin's book is available now. let's do a little bit of weather now. you guys, do you think you can

you have the premiere of your show tomorrow night on the weather channel. we want people to understand about the flint water crisis. 23.5 degrees, our premier show is on the flint water crisis. now it happened to this community. they didn't know it was going to happen and had nothing to do with it. their water was switched from a clean water supply to the filthy flint river overnight. we traveled and talked to all the politicians and sign tigss involved. i want you to meet the people of flint. this can happen to almost any community and i think you'll find yourself in these moms and these families. here's one of the flint moms. >> we got our water tested. we got a water tested. got our blood tested and there it was there, too. looking at it's not safe. we're way more educated now. your water should never smell like anything or taste like anything. >> wow. >> all right, again, just happened to them. they did not know.

doing six books this year. because the readers keep saying can't you write more or faster. i'm like, are you kidding? i'd never get out of my house. >> i'm one of the those. i'm guilty. tell us about this new book. >> i'm often intrigued by much more older people who we had no idea of who they were originally. a woman who dies, no one knows who she is. she leaves a safe deposit book with fascinating letters a fortune in jewelry, even though everyone thought she was dead broke and two people, one from the court, one from an auction house want to find out who she was and they pursue her trail and find all kind of surprises and interesting things. really exciting. >> with you said you always fun, but you really enjoyed writing this one, why? >> i did, the woman was so

intriguing, following her history and it affected the current people and it turns out, one of them is related to her and really exciting. >> it's always that little twist. >> i know. that little twist. they sometimes happen without my help. i was doing one that will be out in a couple of years, the main character killed his best friend. how did that happen? and i called my editor and said you're not going to believe it, he killed bill. >> you have some superfans here with us. jennifer has a question for you. jennifer. >> yes, the beginning, middle or end, what's the most challenging for you to write? >> the beginning is the hardest, getting started. i usually alphabetize my nail polish, redo my underwear drawer. call all my children. i'm always looking for an excuse not to start. that's the hard part. once i get the story then i'm

midst of a major upheaval in her family life, she's getting a divorce, her son is gay and everybody knows. she wants to keep it a secret. she wants to sort of keep everybody perfect and under control the way she likes things and appearances are important to her. she has to renavigate her relationship with all of her kids. >> it kind of explodes. >> exactly. >> not a great moment for the family. this is based a little bit on real life the creator dan savage, a friend of yours, grew up in an irish family. in part it's his story. >> it's the launching point. very loosely based on his life, coming out to his catholic parents and his mother who was not happy about him being homosexual and really had to learn how to accept him and, you know, i don't know, be his advocate which she did
