>> ms. jones indicated that she spent the next day and night searching the tenderloin and the south of market areas and was unable to locate either her children or the acquaintance. >> reporter: again, the girls were dropped off at st. francis hospital. their mother is under arrest for child endangerment. now, i did get a chance to speak with police a little earlier. they were very concerned. they were actually handing out these flyers in the area where the girls were last seen near market street. but again, they have been found. they appear to be in good health. but child services is also getting involved in the investigation. reporting live in san francisco, alyssa harrington, "abc7 news." >> good that they are safe and sound. after a four-month investigation, police investigators say it was likely driver error that caused a san francisco tour bus crash that left 20 people injured. and today the bus driver is breaking his silence to dispute

those findings. vick l lee is live with more. >> reporter: dan, the tour bus was just zooming down this street. a lot of people, including the driver, thought the brakes failed. but not investigators, who said today the brakes were fine. there was no mechanical error. it was a chaotic scene. the afternoon of november 13th here at union square. a double decker tour bus out of control, hitting a bicyclist, cars, construction barricades and other objects before crashing. in all, 19 people were injured. the driver's attorney, rob cartwright, jr. >> he tried to put on the brakes, there were no brakes. >> reporter: today, police announced that their conclusion was that the driver may have

terror attack in brussels. a third bomber has been identified. law enforcement confirms to abc news that the suspect najip in el laachraoui was killed in the attack and is the suspected bombmaker on the attacks in paris. the death toll is now 31 at the bombings. four patients are still in a coma and remain unidentified. an american couple is among the missing. stephanie and justin schultz live in belgium but have roots in tennessee and kentucky. hillary clinton laid out her counterterrorism strategy this morning in a speech at stanford university. the former secretary of state said the brussels attacks are another reminder that the fight against isis and terrorism is far from finished. >> we can't let fear stop us from doing what's necessary to keep us safe. nor can we let it push us into

reckless actions that end up making us less safe. now it's our turn to stand with europe. we cherish the same values and face the same adversaries. so we must share the same determination. >> the associated press reports isis has trained at least 400 fighters to target europe. today, clinton proposed intensifying air strikes but warned carpet bombing civilian areas would be a serious mistake. we're learning more about one of the suspected bombers in the attacks in brussels. turkish officials confirmed that this man, ibrahim el bakrioaui was detained by turkey but was then released to the netherlands. belgium prosecutors believe he was the suicide bomber that targeted the brussels airport. >> and the brussels airport will remain closed through at least friday with no flights until

latest updates by downloading our free news app. and at 5:30, david muir will anchor from brussels. a former stanford swimmer took the stand today in his own defense against rape charges. 20-year-old brock turner is accused of sexually assaulting a woman who past out drunk at a fraternity party last year. "abc7 news" was at superior court in palo alto today when turner took the stand. he testified the sex was consensual. the woman contends she was blacked out and did not consent. a student covering the case for stanford says it's made her more aware about the dangers of alcohol. >> i think for me, just as a student, it makes me want to be careful around alcohol. i want my friends to be careful around alcohol, because it makes bad decisions. >> turner withdrew from stanford and is banned from campus. in vallejo, new allegations regarding the way the police

department handled the kidnapping of denise huskins. police initially called the abduction a hoax, until a man was arrested for the crime. melanie woodrow is live outside the police department with the new twist in the story. melanie? >> reporter: well, dan, these new allegations name at least one specific detective's response. it's also alleged that the police department mishandled denise huskin's case. no one here at the police department would respond today. there was some vindication for denise as she stood next to her boyfriend. with matthew mueller behind bars, it seems the kidnapping wasn't a hoax. but that's not the only crime police accused her of making up. detective matthew muster said to denise's mother that her daughter made up being raped

twice. this according to the complaint after denise's mom confided in connective muster that her daughter was moe eslested as a child. >> the detective responded that's what people sometimes do is they make it up later and try to reexperience the situation and enjoy the excitement. >> reporter: denise's attorney says she requested a sexual assault exam. what was the response? >> outrageously that she keep her clothes on and they'll do it eventually. >> reporter: eventually was 15 more hours in the clothing she was assaulted in. >> it was one of the biggest miscarriages of justice i've ever seen in my entire 25-year career. it was insulting. >> reporter: neither attorney knows what happened with the kit. >> we have no information it was tested at all. >> reporter: a question no one at the police department would answer today. a spokesperson also said "no comment." >> it is terrifying for woman

who are sexually assaulted if the police doubt their claims at the outset and don't preserve evidence. >> reporter: there's some suggestion one officer questioned how the case was handled. in july, the police department chief apologized to denise in a letter. there's no mention of the sexual assault. melanie woodrow, "abc7 news." a taco truck overturned on a busy fremont street in san francisco during the lunch hour today. police actually tweeted out these photos of the truck when it flipped on its side. mission boulevard was closed for an hour as crews uprighted the truck. the driver was taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. a hot air balloon made an unscheduled landing this morning. this is video from sky 7 hd over henry road.

a bomb scare has forced police to clear out hercules city hall. police headquarters, and the downtown library. it started when a man walked into the police station and said he had a fake bomb just before 3:00 this afternoon. a hercules police officer checked out the fake bomb and was concerned it might be real. residents are also sheltering in place inside two nearby senior housing communities. facing criticism tonight, b.a.r.t. is defending the bonuses it will pay its nearly 3400 employees. b.a.r.t. says the $1,000 bonus per worker is contractually mandated and tied to ridership increases. but this comes as b.a.r.t. struggles with mechanical problems. some think they should put that on hold. but others think that paying for employees and paying for repairs should be separate. >> i think they're unrelated. >> the way the problem with

"abc7 news" or online at abc7news.com. technology in the classroom is not a given in many schools, even those in silicon valley. so mineral park's go fund me decided to do something about that. janet o is live in san jose with this story. janet? >> reporter: hi, dan. you can say the stakes were high, because schools were completing for chrome books. so they did everything they could to win by putting their social media skills to the test. >> we deliberately partnered with schools that were on the needy side of things. >> reporter: this was one of nine schools around the country selected to compete for chrome books. each school had to create a go fund me page and get the most shares on facebook to win. >> i spread it all over my facebook. >> reporter: they not only got

the most shares but raised the most in community donations, $13,000. but that's not all. as the big winners, go fund me will give the school 100 chrome books. and school specialty incorporated will donate chrome book carts. the total came out to a whopping $46,000. the check was presented to the school today. >> this whole championship, this whole challenge has been amazing. it's amazing how the community has come together to support the needs of the students. >> reporter: the principal tells us they will be able to buy an additional 100 chrome books with the leftover funds. students will now be able to check on the new chrome books from the library once they arrive in about a week. >> we're going to have the computers, because i'll have a better chance to get my work done at home and i won't have to struggle coming back and forth. >> everything is online basically.

i want to be a film producer and screen writer, so most of the stuff that i do is on the computer. >> reporter: go fund me is thinking about holding a similar competition in the near future. in san jose, janet o, "abc7 news." >> isn't that great? the san francisco's candle stick point where the park used to sit is about to undergo a dramatic transformation. the developer shared these new images of what they're planning. the project has been approved by the city's planning commission and includes more than 2200 homes, a shopping district, and a film arts center. the plan also calls for the redevelopment of neighboring alice griffith public housing units. the former home of the san francisco 49ers was demolished last year. we have an amazing act of heroism and love to share with you, done by a 5-year-old girl. she saved her mother from drowning in the backyard pool at their texas home. and that heroic act was all captured on video.

>> reporter: 5-year-old alison is a hero. what this texas girl did to save her mom takes incredible strength. >> i woke up in the hospital bed and i did not know where i was. >> reporter: mom tracy suffered a seizer while swimming. alison realizing something was wrong, dove into the water and started pulling her moth tore the shallow end. it took several tries but she didn't give up. her sisters and aunt came rushing out. >> she was really heavy. her other daughters helped me get her out. alison was able to do that on her own, so it's a miracle. >> reporter: alison has been swimming since she was 2 1/2, summer jobs as a lifeguard may be in her future. >> i think i see some potential there. >> reporter: while she doesn't have much to say about her deed, you can tell she's grateful to

patches of fog linger sboch. into the afternoon, temperatures start to come down a little bit by evening time with the fog returning near the coast. tomorrow afternoon, in the south bay, 72 in san jose. cupertino 73. gilroy, 70 degrees. 69 in redwood city. 68 san mateo. half moon bay, pacifica, low 60s. 65 in downtown san francisco. more high clouds in the north bay. so we will call it a milky sky or filtered sun. vallejo, 60s. 68 in oakland. newark, inland spots 71. concord, 70 degrees. so definitely the spring feel. on friday, we'll cool it down a little bit near the coast as the sea breeze comes back in. temperatures inland remain mild.

bloomberg reports shares rose 13% today. the company would not comment to the report. they nigh to 25 cities from its hub at sfo and the second largest airline at the airport. the trip home from yesterday's historic baseball game in havana, cuba took a bit longer than the tampa bay rays bargained for. the game was attended by presidents obama and raul castro. the charter flight was supposed to take 55 minutes but it took seven hours. a mechanical delay with the plane kept the team in cuba longer than expected. and rays pitcher chris archer tweeted this from the tarmac. p.s., the shower at the stadium in cuba today wasn't working after the game, so many guys have not showered. that's tough. >> yes, indeed. well, they could have called 7 on your side, but tomorrow you can do that. join us for the tax hotline. expert also be here taking your
