>> and that breaking news is out of burlingame. two people were shot outside a hotel around 10:30. there are several hotels in this area a few miles south of san francisco international airport. burlingame police say the two victims, both men in their 20s ran into a restaurant and asked for help. both victims are expected to survive. follow us on twitter @abc7news bay area for breaking developments. good evening. i'm eric thomas. police are casting a wide netd in hopes of catching this man who is accused in a drive-by shooting that wounded anne e 8-year-old concord boy. the wounded boy is still in the hospital. abc 7 news reporter sergio quintana is live in the newsroom. the boy wasn't the target. >> reporter: that's according to some of the people we spoke with at the home. they were able to identify a suspect in the shooting pretty

quickly because there were lots of witnesses and the victim's family knows the alleged shooter. concord police are looking for this man 32-year-old james j jarrard, considered armed and dangerous. >> he fired a handgun at a group of individuals with a group of children playing in the yard, which is reckless. he's highly dangerous. >> reporter: several people witnessed the shooting, including the 8-year-old victim's young brothers who were also playing in the front yard. the family did not speak to me on camera but did say they know jarrard by his nickname, smiley. the intended victim was not the child but smiley's own brother who was also in the yard of the house. a bullet passed through the intended target's pant leg and hit the 8-year-old in the neck. he remains at gdgchildren's hospital in oakland. >> it got so close to that carotid artery.

he's doing really good given the circumstances. >> reporter: according to the family, doctors have not been able to remove the bullet from the child's neck, but he is doing well. while we were at the home, we saw concord police officer arrive to conduct a probation search but they left without making an arrest or taking any property. skrar jarrard is wanted on a $1.1 million award. many may see their paychecks change. they are trying to hike the minimum wage to $15 an hour. california's current minimum wage stands at $10 an hour. legislators work with union leaders on the proposal hiking it to $15 an hour. it calls for the minimum wage to rise to $10.50 next year followed by dollar a year increases until 2022. >> there's no good reason why people who are working 40 hour

weeks full time should be living in poverty. if we're going to talk about respecting work, then we also have to reward work. >> business groups were not included in the negotiations between labor and lawmakers. it started as routine training mission for seven san francisco firefighters. four of them went to the hospital. and one will stay overnight to get treatment for hypothermia. cornell barnard has the story. >> reporter: a routine training exercise for firefighters quickly became a rescue mission on the water. this firefighter still wet standing in his bare feet was one of six firefighters thrown into the pacific. it happened during that training exercise near the cliff house. seven firefighters aboard a 30-foot rescue fire boat when they got into trouble. >> conditions were pretty calm, as i understand it. there was a big wave that came up. some might call it a rogue wave and flipped the boat.

>> reporter: all firefighters tossed into the chilly water. first responders on jet skis were nearby but rescuing everybody wasn't easy. >> the jet ski came to get one swimmer, or person in the water. the person grabbed on and the waves were breaking and the jet ski had to leave him and bounced off a couple of waves and ultimately came back and pulled a couple of people back. >> were you worried? >> we thought maybe somebody wise trapped on the rocks. >> reporter: sky 7 hd was over land's end where the boat drifted. >> we've had some of our most experienced firefighters on that boat. >> reporter: four firefighters were taken to the hospital as a precaution. after a scary day on the water. cornell barnard, abc 7 news. you can see where two people suffered serious injuries when their car slammed into a light pole in danville. it happened on safeway's parking

lot around 8:30 this evening. witnesses say the driver was burning rubber before the crash. the search is on for a man and woman wanted in a fatal robbery of a tourist in san francisco. this is surveillance of the attack at franklin and post. police say the victim refused to let go of his messenger bag and ran into the street trying to escape his attacker. the robber catches up and stabs the victim in the head. the police officer's association is now offering a $5,000 reward in the case. the victim is 44-year-old paul tam. he died of his injuries on thursday just more than a month after the attack. police say tam is from manchester england was and visiting san francisco with a relative from irvine. sky 7 hd over the san francisco bay as commercial fishermen were out catching dungeness crab. the season started today after being postponed for more than four months because the crabs showed high levels of a naturally occurring neurotoxin. fishermen are calling the quality of the crabs caught

today decent. >> it's beautiful. there are two-plus pound crabs. full of meat. absolutely made my mouth water. >> results from this weekend's testing of those crabs won't be available until monday. warrior fans, if you are taking b.a.r.t. north to oracle for tomorrow night's game against philadelphia, expect delays. the transit agency shut down service between the san leandro and bay fair stations. abc 7 news was in san leandro where riders are taking a bus bridge to get between the two stations. fans from fremont or dublin plonton should expect 30 to 60-minute delays. they'll be shutting down service for crew work as part of the building a better b.a.r.t. program. tip-off between the warriors and 76ers is at 5:00 p.m. beautiful weather today brought people out in droves to popular tourist sites, including the golden gate bridge.

bridge authorities closed to of its parking lots for most of the day hoping to help with traffic flow. it seems to have backfired. lisa amin gulezian has story. >> reporter: they welcomed drivers that vista point lots were closed until 5:00 p.m. otherwise only buses and taxis were allowed. >> i don't know why they did that. crazy. >> reporter: the goal was to ease convestion by pushing drivers to avoid the lots altogether. unfortunately, the opposite happened. while the welcome center parking lot was off limits, this overflow parking lot was used but got filled up fast and that caused gridlock all around the toll plaza. >> if they're going to close this, then they need to have second option and have the tourists beware of what the option is. instead of having them circle around thinking they'll get parking here. >> why? just leave it alone.

let the same rhythm everybody is used to continue. >> reporter: bridge authorities knew the beautiful weather and easter holiday would draw more visitors than usual to the area. once the lots opened they filled up fast. at vista point, drivers faced a difference problem. a big bus tour bus crashed into another car as they entered the lot. the bus driver admitted to hitting the honda accord as he took the turn off the bridge. he told police he had to use the restroom. this woman was in the car and did not want to be identified. >> i think person was in hurry, but cars were stopped so they -- >> reporter: no one was hurt. the lots will close again sunday from 11:00 to 5:00. lisa amin gulezian, abc 7 news. abc 7 news was at grace cathedral in san francisco's knob hill for an easter vigil this holy saturday.

georges were in the brussels airport with their 9-month-old when the bombs exploded. this video shows them hunched over shielding their infant. >> we get up. grabbed the baby n run toward the back counters. >> reporter: they know how lucky they are. >> our hearts go out to the people that were victims. rrpt those like justin shults and his wife missing since the attacks. it's now been confirmed they died together. authorities in belgium saturday charging faycal cheffou with terrorist murder. the authorities releasing this photo of a man said to be syrian, believed to be complicit in the brussels attacks. the question now, are these the suspects who managed to slip away following tuesday's deadly attacks like the man in the hat seen here at the airport with the suicide bombers? authorities also holding this man they shot and wounded friday on a railway platform. even though there's widespread fear. their ordeal by terror is far from ended.

brussels this easter weekend is a city on high alert. a march against fear scheduled for easter sunday was canceled when authorities said they could not guarantee security. richard cantu, abc news, new york. all right. are you ready for a news alert? we just won the state of washington. >> vermont senator bernie sanders led the cheers after winning democratic caucuses in washington and alaska. despite the victories, hillary clinton still holds a wide lead over sanders in delegates nationwide. sanders will need to win more than two-thirds of the remaining delegates while securing uncommitted superdelegates to clinch the nomination. california's primary still isn't until june 7th. new polling data is coming in. clinton is beating sanders in san francisco, 54-to 42%.

the web poll of 664 likely democratic voters in san francisco was conducted by emc research of oakland. on the republican side, donald trump tried to improve his standing with women tweeting, quote, nobody has more respect for women than donald trump. this follows a heated war of words with ted cruz. the gop did not hold any primaries or caucuses today. republicans will face off again on april 5th in the wisconsin primary. california republicans could play a huge roll in june with one of the final primaries of the year. abc 7 news was in san francisco's washington square park today where kids and th!ez families took a springtime stroll with the easter bunny after a pancake breakfast. both were in honor ofée&i late h beach resident who dressed like the easter bunny every year for 50 years
