seized was a cell phone that had several videos of young girls. >> reporter: he worked at this clinic for about a year. typically a dental assistant would monitor a child after a procedure when nitrous oxide was used. the gas makes them more comfortable, less anxious during the procedure but doesn't put them to sleep. >> the clinic takes patients very seriously and is fully cooperating with officials. for the privacy of our patients and all concerned, we cannot comment further. >> reporter: they are asking patients with questions to contact them directly. in concord, laura anthony, "abc7 news." a uc berkeley coach accused of sexually harassing a reporter has resigned. jan huffneagle was a cal assistant basketball coach. he was appealing his firing after an investigation found he tried to lure the female reporter up to his apartment and sent her sexual text messages for months.

his attorney says he'll drop his appeal and will release a statement tomorrow. faculty and administrators at cal state reached a deal to avoid a strike at least for now. both sides plan to announce a tentative agreement tomorrow morning. they were planning a walkout at all 23 campuses last week fighting over pay. during this temporary agreement, a strike is avoided for now, while the two sides negotiate a permanent contract. an electric gas line has led to a major traffic tie-up. a construction crew dug into the two-inch line earlier today near highway 17. that street has been closed for hours. sky 7 hd is over the scene live, giving us that look right now of conditions. you can see the crews working right there. chris nguyen is also live in campbell with details on what happened. chris? >> reporter: kristen, police just reopened one of the south bound lanes of camden avenue. that's going to help the traffic situation out here.

if you take a look behind me, you can see the pg&e crews currently working the scene, trying to repair that two-inch line hit by a construction crew earlier today. as we showed you some video from sky 7 hd, the leak was first reported just before 1:00 this afternoon. because of this, a number of businesses in the area had to be evacuated, including a fast food restaurant, as well as a gas station very close to where the repairs are being done. the north bound lanes remain closed. it's still unclear how soon those north bound lanes will reopen to traffic. utility officials are investigating why the construction crew hit the gas line, because we've been told the gas line was clearly marked. returning to a live look now, if you're traveling south on camden, police have reopened one of these lanes. but the backup extends to the expressway. so if you have a friend or

police say they shot bean bags at the man but he kept charging. the chief says two officers, one a sergeant, fired. >> we have, it appears, four extended casings from the bean bag gun and seven casings. >> reporter: seven bullet casings. the man was rushed to the hospital mortally wounded. >> all he did was play with his soccer ball. >> reporter: stephanie and john knew the man as jose. they were outside their tent when officers awe lived. they say they saw everything. >> the knife was up on his hip the whole time. yeah, he didn't have no knife in his hand when the officers was around him. >> reporter: he says he saw bean bags hitting jose first. >> he was going in circles. and that's when the sergeant pulled his gun out and opened fire on him. >> reporter: the couple says the knife was tucked in his belt.

revenue. berkeley already has an extra tax on sugary drinks. and oakland schools, today the district had a ceremony for a center that will change the way kids eat and how they think about the foods they eat. education reporter lyanne melendez takes a closer look. >> reporter: the hot meals given to students are served in a cardboard tray and wrapped in plastic. >> the food a great. i'm okay with it. >> reporter: oakland unified wants to do better. today they broke ground for a new centralized kitchen serving all schools. there will be an instructional farm so students can learn where their food comes from. 25,000 meals a day are prepared at two sites. >> you're working with 50 cases of chicken. at the same time, you're cooking rice and the vegetables are being prepared. >> reporter: and the foods are

not as fresh. take the rice being cooked today thursday. it's placed on a tray with chicken and broccoli and covered with a plastic right, then refrigerated to be served on monday. now the new center will only precook the foods. >> the rice will be cooked at the school opposed to precooked. >> reporter: that means it will be fresh and healthier. >> your body needs a lot of healthy foods to stay wrong. >> reporter: the center will cost $40 million, that comes from bond measure j passed in 2012. the district will receive a total of $470 million to upgrade its facilities. that includes improvements to all school kitchens so they can successfully prepare the food sent to them by the center. in oakland, leeann melendez, "abc7 news." there's another bidder ready to enter if yahoo sweep stakes.

verizon plans to make a bid next week. google is also considering bidding for yahoo's core internet businesses. uber just snagged a top ford executive to develop self-driving cars. he will focus on strategy and integration. uber has been wooing engineers and self-driving experts for month. the company has raided google and the entire robotics research unit and struck a partnership with the university of arizona to develop self-driving technology. remember the dog that ran and ran from police sunday? that dog will likely be placed in foster home. this is a picture of ponch today. there's a foster home, the best play for him to settle down and get more socialized.

the shelter will determine what happens after reassessment. he's still stressed out, and he ran so fast down the bridge, chp officers took a while to catch up. how much money do you need to spend to get a decent night's sleep? >> michael finney has some answers. >> you know these mattresses cost a lot of money. well over $1,000 is what the average one goes for. consumer reports has tested more than 60. we'll tell you how much you need to spend if you want a decent one. consumer reports performs all sorts of tests to check whether a mattress is worth the money. >> we tested mattresses that cost as little as $250 for a queen size mattress and others that cost nearly $8,000. neither of them did particularly well in our tests. >> reporter: this test simulates eight years of use, to see how well a mattress holds its shape and firmness.

the south bay will see some showers developing. as the day goes on, by evening, looking at some pockets of moderate shower activity. santa cruz mountains, shifts northward by 8:00 p.m. early saturday morgning, those showers will linger into saturday afternoon. so sunday is probably the better day for outdoor activities. rainfall totals with this system will range between about a quarter to half, but can't rule out higher totals in some areas, especially we may see a thunderstorm or two develop. first thing in the morning, numbers in the 50s. we'll have the fog and clouds around. for your friday afternoon, 64 in san francisco. 66 in san raphael. 67 in napa. in the east bay, livermore, 9. up to 70 in san jose.

in washington, d.c. today, the senate refused to stop airlines from shrinking seats. senator chuck schumer introduced a bill that would have allowed the faa to consider the health and comfort of passengers before letting airlines change seat sizes. the bill failed 54-42, mostly along party lines. republican senator john thune of south carolina said he does not think it's faa's place to define comfort. if you're taking sports supplements that claim to burn fat or improve your workout, you might want to check the label. harvard researchers say it's a
