ask. >> it's saturday, april 9th. thanks for joining us. i'm chris nguyen. we are waking up to slick roads this morning so here's meteorologist lisa argen tracking the storm. >> good morning. this is a 1 on the storm impact scale. it's bringing down rain from trace amounts to half-inch and a possibility of a thunderstorm in the southern half of the viewing area. you see the rotation from the east to west. an area of low pressure in southern california continues to pump up moisture. as we take you to 680 and 580 right now, you see around san ramon looking at showers through dub lip and back westward. take a look at the heart of the bay from berkeley, richmond and the north bay. san francisco some light rain and extends northward up through

santa rosa. they only picked up a supple hundredths of rain through hayward, around fremont and 8830. there's more to come further south from gilroy to hollister. some scattered showers here. we will continue to see this as the area of low pressure sinks to the south and east of us. for the next several hours you will notice how the rain continues to really scatter out and become more isolated. so le western conference will talk about the taming today. . >> breaking news out of oakland this morning. the driver of this mercedes-benz lost control. he died after he lost control in the rain on westbound 580. his car left the freeway, landed on the harrison street off-ramp and rolled over several times. the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected through the windshield and died at the scene. they also tell abc7 news that too other drivers changes the

at john muir medical center in walnut creek. the water for drinking, washing and showering has been temporarily shut off. previous arely they shut off the water after notices small particles in the water. the particles returned this week. patients are now getting bottled water and sanitary wipes. concord is not affected. there is a new exchange zone for anyone who purse items through craigslist or other ads. officers won't be there for the exchanges but the mace is well lit and under 24 hour surveillance. they hope it will deter thieves from targeting honest buyers and sellers. there's a alleged child molester accused ever targeting people at a clinic. alejandro saro is being abuse

passengers. the best evidence against a convicted arsonist turned out to be himself. abc7 news was in placerville has a judge sentenced wayne allen huntsman to 20 years in prison for starting the king fire in 2014. part of the evidence against him was a video he took of himself on the cell phone showing him standing near the fire moments after it started. huntsman pleaded guilty and apologized to victims the sonoma county sheriff posted not one, but nine videos on youtube showing a confrontation last june between a deputy and a teenager. it began when the teen tried to stop the officer from look inside her pickup. >> what are you doing? you are not allowed to do that. you are not allowed to go in her car! >> this is deputy body camera video of the incident. it shows 18-year-old gabby getting in between the truck and

deputy marcus holt ton. after arguing she was forced to the ground and detained. she suffered bruises on her face. >> at one point in the video we hear the mother say you didn't have a warrant and you have no legal premise for getting in that vehicle. she was 100% right. >> he was doing his job. came across a group of people, there was yelling, screaming, crying and he was trying to determine if there was someone that was a victim of a crime. >> the teen's attorney said she was only charged with resisting an arrest. there's a growing number of hidden homeless people in the south bay and some of them are living in their cars. abc7 news was at st. john's church in east san jose where many stayed creeping in a vehicle on a public street is illegal so 16 churches have created safe lots for them. 16% of santa clara county's homeless population slept in

as a one on the storm impact scale. most of the that falling between now and noon. possibility of isolated thunderstorm around san jose and perhaps sacramento. as we take a look at our radar and satellite composite notice moving from east to west and we continue to see it throughout the morning hours and the moisture being lifted off an area of low pressure. you notice the light rain from walnut creek, 680 to san ramon, anywhere august ga and miranda. to the north the extent is around santa rosa, bodega bay. you can see highway 101 light rain shower activity into san francisco, across the richmond san rafael bridge, alameda and oakland you have the wet weather. it begins to fall apart toward union city and fremont. but we have more rain for you today and overnight tonight we see a renewed piece of energy.

there's the low. you can pick it out. it will continue to drift to the east and as it does you will see the rain shut off tomorrow. still isolated showers in the higher elevation tomorrow. 59 and muggy tomorrow. 55 morgan hill and half moon bay and look at all the fog out there from the golden gate bridge. most of you experiencing the lights rain this morning and the mild temperatures from the mid-50s in santa rosa, 58 in concord, and from emeryville right now you see some of the drops on the lens. so scattered showers today. mainly the first half of the day. isolated thunder and possible and isolated showers tomorrow for a dryer afternoon. but we do have more chances of rain throughout next week. so you can see from the south bay about .42 in mountain view, a third of an inch in redwood city. san jose a a near half-inch. and .08 in napa. the next couple hours you will notice the showers become more widely scattered by 1:00 in the

afternoon but still we will see a few. and the overnight hours more shower activity, mainly the southern half if fremont to san jose. then 8:00 tomorrow night, and as we go through tomorrow evening or tonight, you can see rainfall totals through 11:00 up to three quarters an inch here. half-inch in oakland. and perhaps more than that in mountain. these are just gauges. it would be nice if that were to verify. we will look for the scattered shower activity mainly the first half of your saturday. 66 san mateo, 65 in santa cruz. the showers becoming more scattered throughout the day. and the accuweather seven-day forecast the spotty showers tomorrow mainly over the hills. then have a dry couple of days monday and tuesday. a little bit more sunshine. there's the next chance of rain on wednesday. then it could linger into thursday. so certainly a nice-looking seven-day for april. don't always see that. >> and we have the cherry

>> good morning, i'm chris nguyen. here's meteorologist lisa argen tracking our weather. >> we have light rain over most of the bay area. mostly the south bay. you see it's moving from east to west. we have an area of low pressure off the california coast and that's pumping in the moisture. 680 here up through walnut creek and concord and westward. miranda and highway 12 wet. you see the lights rain emeryville and oakland this morning. the richmond san rafael bridge is wet, as well as the golden gate bridge. you see the extent up to santa rosa. so this is shifting to the north. you can see parts of the east bay around hayward things are drier here, and also on the peninsula, as well. a few scattered showers off the coast near santa cruz. we will continue to see the active light rain throughout the morning hours. this is the next few hours. our computer animation becomes more widely scattered as question w. he get into the afternoon. the second half of your day is looking dryer. this is a one on the storm

anywhere from a tenth to half-inch of rain today. most of this happening before noontime. and the second half of your day is trending dryer, as well as the second half of your weekend. you see the moisture moving in from the east to the west. we will look at the bigger picture right now. you see the activity in the san joaquin valley and an area of low pressure offshore that is directing this moisture from this trajectory from the east bay to the coast. walnut creek, highway 680 around danville andmer august ga. the north bay more scattered from sonoma to napa. highway 101. the central bay, the richmond san rafael bridge, golden gate bridge and much. san francisco experiencing the light rain right now around 280. the bay shore freeway. but you head out to the east bay around hayward and union city and things have dried out. we will continue to see more shower activity as this area of low pressure eventually pushes into southern california. and that will shut off the rain. but between now and tomorrow,

there's still more showers certainly overnight tonight for the east bay and south bay. otherwise it's more widely scattered throughout the weekend. and the main event this morning. 55 san francisco. with morgan hill in the mid-50s, as well. it's muggy. mountain view and san jose at 59. and the view from the golden gate bridge. you can see how foggy it is out there. visibility reduced with mid-50s santa rosa, 57 the delta and novato and livermore. just a couple hundredths up in santa rosa so far. most of the activity has been east and south but it should shift to the north and shut off throughout much of the afternoon. scattered showers today, isolated thunder and possible for parts of the bay. but likely just to the valley areas. and then we will see the isolated showers tomorrow over the higher elevations. so rainfall the past 24 hours has been about a quarter of an inch around hayward with half-inch, upwards of that mountain view and san jose. as we go through the next several hours notice what what

happens by 1:00. you see pockets of very light shower activity. so get out and take a bike ride, a walk, a jog, and you will likely be dry. but then through the overnight hours tonight another wave of energy. mainly in the east and south bay. and so we will look for the totals through tonight pretty impressive. upwards of three quarters of appear inch hopefully in livermore. a half-inch san carlos and maybe a third of appear inch in novato. that's just a gauge. but we are looking at the next chance of showers coming in for the middle of the week. by early thursday morning here's some wet weather up to the north. and santa rosa, the entire bay area right on through your thursday morning commute. so that's another chance for the upcoming work week. likely putting us over the inch and a half in san francisco. but if you are headed into the city for the game today, low 60s with the chance of showers. it should be muggy out there and cloudy throughout the afternoon. so highs around the bay today ranging from the mid-60s on the peninsula, 64 in vallejo, 69 in sabatini hose.

canoa had a liver transplant just before we saw him at stanford. he had his first surgery for health problems when he was only two months old. and that happened where the family lived in honolulu, hawaii. >> that procedure failed. so the next option was transplant. i was devastated. i mean, it's your baby, you know. you want them to grow up to be healthy and strong. and then you hear that news. >> mom and dad decided canoa's best chance for a donor was for the family to relocate to be near children's hospital in january, 2016. they are living at the ronald mcdonald house at stanford. neither parent was a match for canoa. they weren't the right blood type. a family member, a mother of two wrung boys, volunteered. she was teaching hula and is the wife of a brother. >> when my sister-in-law found out what blood type she was,
