so we will continue to see light shower activity. a 1 on the storm impact scale. anywhere from a tenth to half-inch. rain. you see the wet pavement from the roof camera. if you are planning your day, the activity, most of it happens before noontime with the wet weather and then it becomes more widely scattered. still a chance throughout the day. muggy out there, mid-to upper 60s for most. >> breaking news out of oakland this morning. the driver of this mercedes-benz lost control. he died after he lost control in the rain on westbound 580. his car left the freeway, landed on the harrison street off-ramp and rolled over several times. the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected through the windshield and died at the scene. chp officers also tell abc7 news that two other drivers collided but -- with each other when they were watching the accident scene, but they were not hurt. about. >>. sounds after deadly shooting by san francisco police officers caught on surveillance video.

a homeless man was killed on thursday at 19th and shock well. isolates prompting louder calls for a new use of force policy for the department. abc7 news reporter katie marzullo tell us the actual encounter was not captured on tape. >> you hear more than you see, but the video shows the entire incident the took about 20 seconds from when they confronted the shooting man to when it stopped. >> it's devastating. >> jennifer is the director. she believes officers were too quick to use their guns. >> just waited and try to make contact with the person, try to get them to cool down and take your time. no reason to rush in with guns blazing. absolutely no reason from our perspective. the police commission memberrer dr. joseph marshall said the city is moving toward a new use of force policy as quick as

possible. >> they learn to do things different ways. if we want them to do things differently, then have to create different policies and training procedures, and that's what we are trying to do. >> the suspects was flailing his hands with a knife as he is ran toward officers. the knife was raised up as he ran toward officers. >> flowers and handwritten messages now mark the spot on the street. in san francisco, katie marzullo, abc7 news. >> san francisco police investigators need your help top find the man and two women in these pictures. the man is a suspect in an assault last week that left the victim with life-threatening injuries. that was in the mission district. the suspect is described as being between 25 and 30 years old and wearing a light blue t-shirt. women involved are persons of interest in the case. president obama will be heading back to washington, d.c.

this afternoon after a busy 24 hours in san francisco. the commander in chief was in town to attend a wear of fundraisers and to provide once in a lifetime thrills to onlooker. here's alyssa harrington with the story. >> a crowd at the top of traffic -- pacific heights cheered as president barack obama's motorcade came down the highway. >> this was shot on cell phone. >> it was an amazing moment. i feel so blessed's our president and we are going to miss him. >> president obama arrived at sfo with his daughter, malia, friday afternoon. they were greeted by house minority leader nancy pelosi, representative jackie speier and a pack of supporters. the president is in san francisco for fundraisers. first in petrero hills. ty home. susan a sandler and steve philips. many waited to see the motorcade go by. and then off to pelosi's annual fundraiser at a home. and jennifer and her three boys watched as bomb sniffing dogs checked out the extravagant cars

that came through the gates. >> it's pretty amazing. i read about things like this, and it's kind. cool to see it. it is very secure. and the boys are impressed by the fancy cars and we are kind of wondering who is that? who is that? >> tickets cost $33,400 per couple but jennifer said her son, seeing the president on his ninth birthday, was priceless. >> totally awesome birthday present. >> pelosi raised more than $3 million at that event. obama told the room we have a lot of work to do and criticized republicans blocking his supreme court pick. in san francisco, alyssa harrington, abc7 news. >> for the second time this year there's a problem with the water at john muir medical center in walnut creek. the water for drinking, washing and showering has been temporarily shut off. last month east bay mud flushed the waterlines after workers noticed small unidentified particles in the water. the particles returned this

week. patients are now getting bottled water and sanitary wipes. concord is not affected. >> hitsburg police introduced a new safe exchange zone for anyone who purchases items through craigslist or other ads. officers won't be there for the exchanges but the lots are well lit and under 24-hour surveillance. they hope it will deter thieves from targeting honest buyers and sellers. there's a alleged child molester accused or targeting people at a clinic. alejandro saro is being abuse -- accused of molesting three girls at the la clinica la raza monument meant. >> police say they have interviewed three victims. >> we know there will probably be more coming up. >> after the first victim spoke up, they got a search warrant alejandro saro's cell phone.

they identified the next two victims by looking at the videos they say he recorded while molesting them. >> he it pulling their pants down and he's videotaping their private areas and also videotaping their face in some of these videos. >> so far he's charged with 8 counts of forcible lewd acts on a child, including one that officers say he assaulted three different times. >> it was so shocking to see someone that i knew had done something so horrific. >> abc7 news spoke with a woman who went to dental assistant schools with saro for 18 months. >> between our classes we would sit together as a group. there were about five girls or so and two guys that between classes we would sit and study and, you know, quiz each other. >> she said there were no red flags to indicate he may have been a child molester. >> he appeared to be a very kind person. he was a little shy. but he never like -- that's why it was so shocking.

>> police have set up a hotline for parents in this case and they are already getting a lot of calls. cal's former assistant basketball coach who was it fired over a sexual harassment case already has a new job. he's an assistant coach at the university of nevada-reno. the announcement came after he abruptly dropped his appeal at cal. five contractors are accused in the deadly berkeley balcony collapse will be stripped. their license and accused of failing to follow their building guidelines. six people died in the accident. the contractors are blamed for putting seal lent already over damp wood causing the balcony to collapse an elderly disabled woman will not be forced out of her home after a new landlord changed his mind. the woman has lived in her home for 30 years. a tech investor who lives next door bought it for his ailing mother-in-law and wanted her to

a judge sentenced wayne allen huntsman to 20 years in prison for starting the king fire in 2014. part of the evidence against him was a video he took of himself on the cell phone showing him standing near the fire moments after it started. huntsman pleaded guilty and apologized to victims. the king fire burned nearly 100,000 acres and destroyed a dozen homes. the sonoma county sheriff posted not one, but nine videos on youtube showing a confrontation last june between a deputy and a teenager. it was in petaluma. it began when the teen tried to stop the officer from looking inside her sister's pickup. >> what are you doing? you are not allowed to do that. you are not allowed to go in her car! >> this is deputy body camera video of the incident. it shows 18-year-old gabby getting in between the truck and deputy marcus holton. after more arguing, she was forced to the ground and detained. she suffered bruises on her face. >> at one point in the video we

heard her mother say, you didn't have a warrant and you have no legal premise for getting in that vehicle. she was 100% right. >> he was doing his job. came across a group of people, there was yelling, screaming, crying and he was crying to determine if there was someone that was a victim of a crime. >> the teen's attorney said she was only charged with resisting an arrest. she filed a police brutality lawsuit. >> tesla is releasing a new car but will there be enough charging stations in the area to keep up with the high demand? >> in the first week there are already 325,000 preorders for the model 3. last night the company announced plans to increase production to minimize the wait. marcelo was at last week's launch in hawthorne and reserved two cars for his family.

the work is slow. it dropped just about 25 feet each hour. parts from the trusses will be scrapped at the port of oakland and then recycled. >> hard to believe a few days ago we had temperatures in the 80s and 90s. now it's changed. i don't think anyone is complaining. a couple days of rainy weather and then dry conditions. then we will bring the rain back. this is a 1 on the storm impact scale. today a tenth of an inch of rain. upwards of half for some of you but most falls in the morning. isolated thundershowers possible and then more rain overnight tonight. the weekend will feature the soggy conditions. this is moving very slow from the east bay up into the north bay. still here from 680 and 580. san ramon, you have had the wet weather all night long.

and up into the north bay, and more widely scattered through so how gnoma -- sonoma. oakland and emeryville wet but check out how it shuts off from south san francisco just north of 580 through hayward and livermore as it continues to shift up to the north. as we widen the perspective, here's the culprit. an area of low pressure offshore and it continues to sink to the south and east of us. and that will kind of shut off the rain for a portion of the day today. then more showers tonight as it continues to travel inland. so looking at mid-and upper 50s with a mile and a half visibility on the coast. so it will be a muggy day out there. the is the fog on the golden gate. nobody is there. 56 in napa, as well as fairfield with 57 livermore and 58 in concord. so we've looked at about a half-inch from mountain view to san jose since yesterday. you can even see the tops of the

buildings out here with the scattered showers, the fog, isolated thunder near the valley. and looking at just an isolated shower tomorrow. so this morning the first half of your morning looking at the wettest part. look what happens by the afternoon. it becomes much more widely scattered. you see some of the heavier cells here out toward the valley. that's where we can see a thunderstorm. and by tonight more rain pushing into the east bay, the peninsula and the south bay. we will look for the rain to continue to accumulate. this is since yesterday. we total it toward the midnight power tonight and we are looking at a good half-inch from hayward to san francisco. three quarters of an inch in livermore. so monthly totals for april in san francisco less than an inch and a half. we are doing pretty well when we fast forward into wednesday and thursday. another chance of rain visits us so it looks like we will be in and out of the shower activity for much of the next seven days. highs today around the bay in

for parking and driving around. >> we're driving around the giants at&t park. around here there's plenty of parking, but it doesn't come cheap. and the spaces, as well, they are often filled. so trisha uses an app to find and reserve her parking space. when she goes to a game, she knows exactly where she wants to park. >> so i would normally park around china basin because that's convenient across the street from the ballpark. i will definitely use it whenever i come in so i know where i'm going and where i'm going to park. >> knowing where she wants to park is different than actually getting a space there. and one at a good price. so she uses the parking space reservation app called spot hero. >> shows me here and shows me parking around this area. >> and it also shows the prices being charged for the day and time you want the to park. on this day the china basin lot is charging $14.

>> good morning, i'm chris nguyen. here's meteorologist lisa argen tracking our weather. >> had hi, chris. from 680 to 5780, walnut creek through walnut creek and miranda, this really hasn't moved in the last hour. it's picking up here, and we are looking at the activity right around the richmond san rafael bridge. san francisco light rain. no delays yet at sfo but they are likely. but this ceiling and the rain shower activity should lift. a few showers around san leandro and san ramon. just a 1 on the storm impact scale. anywhere from a couple hundredths to a tenth of an inch today. most of the activity will fall before noontime. we will see highs in the 60s today. we have a giants game. looks like still a chance of showers, but it's just a chance. doesn't mean it's likely. we will see the temperatures in the upper 60s and more opportunities for rain tonight. chris. >> thanks, lisa.

overseas this morning a major terror arrest in belgium and the possible end to an around-the-clock manhunt. investigators have captured a suspect and belgian authorities are trying to confirm if he was the man in the hat caught on camera before and after the airport bombing in brussels. he's identified as mohammed abrini, and he's also linked to the deadly attacks in paris. alex marquart is in brussels with more. >> belgian authorities believe albrini could be one of the most wanted men in europe. five men it custody. this take-down shot from a neighbor's window. armed police pinning a man on the ground. his hands behind his back before dragging him away. one of the men, a 31-year-old belgian, long thought to be involved in the november paris attacks. authorities say he could be that infamous man in the hat from the brussels airport. seen here in new images just released, walking calmly away as suicide bombs ripped through the

departure hall. abrini was spotted two days before at a gas station and his dna was found at the apartment, a bomb factory in brussels from where the attackers left for the airport. after the airport attack, the man in the hat and the tan coat fleeing in the chaos before he reappeared. his coat gone looking like he's on the phone. the bomb at the metro station will go off just minutes later at 9:11:00 a.m.. >> alex marquart, abc news, brussels. the vatican published a document titled "the joy of love." it took nearly three years to create. our sister is a station in los angeles has reaction to the more than 250-page document. >> he talks about the principle

much. the south bay and peninsula. now it's beginning to shift to the north. a 1 on the storm impact scale. means it's a light system. isolated thunderstorms are possible in the valley, the sacramento valley and the san joaquin valley. we are looking at most of the activity right on thaw noontime. it's beginning to shift to the north but it's been a very slow mover throughout the past several hours. we've had the rain coming down from tracy to concord, livermore, martinez and walnut creek. it's been light but very steady. up through crockett, 680 and 580 wet and now the north bay from highway 101 in novato wet weather, very light rain through sonoma and napa. we've only had a couple hundredths since last night but it's been picking up the past couple of hours. oakland, you are looking at the wet weather. and through san francisco, 280 down through the sunset. and just around there and the airport looking at some shower activity.

no delays yet. we shift into the east bay and you will notice livermore, the line right here around 580. looks to be where with he are looking at the rain cutting off but a few showers east of milpitas and around mount hamilton. we take you further south, and this is where all the activity is coming from. an area of low pressure and around it we are getting the showers from southern california through the central coast, and we could see some thunderstorms along the coast today up through the bay area, the wet weather. sfo kind of a neat shot for you with the raindrops. still no delays yet. morgan hill and half moon bay. 58 san jose. 59 in morgan hill. and a look at mt. tam where you can see all the fog there. about a mile visibility on the coast. more mid-50s from novato to santa rosa. napa, livermore, 57 by the delta. concord 589. here's san jose right now. looks like a break in the rain, but we picked up about a half-inch. it was coming down pretty good yesterday for the evening

commute. still scattered showers today. focus is from now to about noontime. isolated thunder possible this afternoon. just a chance of it. and the showers become more isolated. few and far between for the second half of your weekend. but this is how it's going to play out the next several hours. this is the afternoon. so things look pretty good. maybe some thunderstorms here if you are traveling to the east. but then look what happens tonight. by 7:00 more showers begin to creep into gilroy and then through the overnight hours it's hayward and livermore, san jose, cupertino and half moon bay getting wet. right on through the early part of your sunday. so between last night and tonight, the rainfall totals, you can see coming up to over a half-inch in oakland, san carlos, and lesser amounts to the north. we still have more rain in the forecast for the middle of next week. this system doesn't look like it's very shy either. looks like it will come in very early on thursday. and then look how it kind. sticks around throughout thursday morning. hopefully maybe another third to a half of an inch.

we will have to wait and see. if you are headed to san francisco today, it may be a little soggy out there. look for temperatures in the low 60s with a chance of showers at at&t park. temperatures today will be in the 60s. it will be muggy. the focus of the rain between now and about noontime, then becoming more scattered in nature. so the accuweather seven-day forecast, spotty showers this afternoon. then we will see more rain tonight. more light stuff tomorrow. just isolated so tomorrow is the dryer day. two dry days monday and tuesday and more rain on wednesday. inch and a half is about what we see in san francisco for the month of april. and looks like we are getting that. >> just keep the umbrella handy all week long. >> yeah, good advice. >> a little boy not even two years old is recovering from a liver transplant at the children's hospital in stanford. his family is able to be close to him thanks to the nearby ronald mcdonald house. abc7's cheryl jennings met the family and learned about the team effort to save him.

>> we met 21-month-old canoa for just is a couple minutes at a pediatric intensive care unit where he was happy to see mom and dad. >> he loves elmo. he loves stuffed animals. >> canoa has had a tough time in his short life, but as hits parents will tell you, he is a fighter. canoa had a liver transplant just seven days before we saw him at stanford. he had his first surgery for health problems when he was only two months old. and that happened where the family lives in honolulu, hawaii. >> that procedure failed. so the next option was transplant. i was devastated. i mean, it's your baby, you know. you want them to grow up to be healthy and strong. and then you hear that news. >> mom and dad decided canoa's best chance for a donor was for the family to relocate to be near children's hospital in january, 2016. they are living at the ronald mcdonald house at stanford.

neither parent was a match for canoa. they weren't the right blood type. a family member, a mother of two young boys, volunteered. she was teaching hula and is the wife of a brother. >> when my sister-in-law found out what blood type she was, immediately she came to us and she said, i would like to help canoa. >> her family also relocated to save the baby and they are living in a nearby motel. >> i can't the thank them. there's no words to describe what they are doing for my son. >> i think he will do great and he will be back in hawaii soon enough. >> canoa's recovery will take several months and the family is so thankful to be staying at ronald mcdonald hoe. >> this place is amazing. >> not only the place is amazing, the staff is very amazing. >> they are so kind.
