abc 7 news starts right now with live breaking news. >> i'm eric thomas. that breaking news is out of san francisco where police are looking for a missing 2-year-old girl. police finished briefing the media a short while ago. let's get to reporter sergio quintana. >> reporter: this was a pretty urgent briefing. the police don't usually talk to us late on a saturday night. but the family is desperately trying to find that 2-year-old little girl. let's show you this picture of ariana. she was reported missing this tuesday along with her mother nicole. according to nicole's sister and a friend here in san francisco, they were last seen last friday night, april 1st, at 9:00 p.m. nicole's friends and family have since posted details of when they last heard from her according to a post on their

facebook and also a conversation i had with them. she had last texted from fresno saying she was with a friend named sam. unfortunately, her body was found yesterday. police are not releasing much furter information. ariana was last seen by more than anyone than her mother more than a month ago. the market was last seen april 1st, and they were both reported missing april 5th. on the 8th we located nicole. she was deceased as a victim of a homicide. >> reporter: unfortunately there's a lot of information that police cannot release to us. we've asked several questions but they cannot tell us where nicole was found. they can also not tell us the condition of her body. unfortunately, this is a wide ranging search because they say she has family here in the bay area. she also has connections in the fresno area and down in southern

california. so tonight they are trying to get this picture of 2-year-old arianna fitts out to as many people as possible in hopes she will be located. reporting live, i'm sergio quintana, abc 7 news. >> thank you, sergio. following more breaking news from soleano county. fi five people were killed on highway 12 about two miles east of highway 160 near rio vista. two of the victims were toddlers. they and three adults were killed around 5:35 tonight when their car tried to pass another vehicle, went out of control and was hit by a pickup truck. the people in the pickup suffered minor injuries. moving on to the weather. rain came down hard in san francisco this afternoon. people walking down lombard street had their umbrellas up trying to stay dry. and the rain could keep up, at least for a while tomorrow. meteorologist drew tuma here with the forecast.

homeless man. abc 7 news was where some of luis' neighbors were moved overnight to a homeless shelter. public works tells mission local the overnight move was motivated by the rain and space opening up at the sheltshelter, not the shooting. this surveillance showing the moment police officers shot him thursday morning. police released a photo of a large kitchen knife they say he was carrying. one witness says the knife was on the ground at the time of the shooting. an advisory for b.a.r.t. passengers. no train service between the san leandro and bayfair stations. it's the second of six weekend closures. they are repairing equipment and tracks. b.a.r.t. is running a bus bridge for passengers but that could lead to delays. janet jackson fans who bought

that's some pockets of moderate rainfall in isolated spots. to the south bay, cupertino, even los altos, light rain at this hour. as we pull back. these showers are moving in a northeast to southwest fashion. if you look off to the north and east we're tracking more rain developing around reno, nevada. it's going to bring more rain first thing on our sunday. the past 36 hours, a lot spots have seen a healthy amount of rain. some over half an inch of rain. all this wet weather has helped to wipe out some of the pollen in the atmosphere. our air quality has dropped from high to moderate levels. some relief has come to allergy sufferers. as we go outdoors, we're in the 50s across the board and we'll stay in the 50s with the cloud cover keeping the warmth near the surface. this storm continues to be a 1.

officials hope to reunite this rescued black bear cub with its mother. a teenager heard smokey jr. squealing in the woods thursday and called firefighters. the bear was slightly singed from flames. they are walking it around the woods spreading its scents in hopes mom can smell it and come back. if mom does not return wildlife officials will care for the little bear until it can be released on its own. it's far out in the ocean most of the time but tomorrow one high-tech ship will be docked and open to the public at the exploratorium. jonathan bloom got to climb on board the shiny new vessel that's on a phish finding mission. >> to the crowd outside the exploratorium is looks like a big fancy ship. >> i think of it as a floating
