john kasich said he didn't think donald trump could get to the magic number of 1237 delegates. what do you think? >> it already looks like donald trump had a huge night. getting over that 50% mark is big for donald trump. that's 95 delegates he's going to get. that means everything to him when it comes to working toward california and getting that narrow path to 1237. needs every delegate he can get. new york will be crucial. >> hillary clinton has a wide lead now. she's been talking like she's going to close the deal. bernie sanders is saying she will be disappointed. which is it? it looks like it's widely in her favor. >> bernie sanders got big crowds, 28,000 people. that's not enough. they have to be actual voters. this is a closed primary.

prices are pushing buyers out. there's an increase in contra costa county. i asked if this is any indication a housing bubble is about to burst. >> every time there's a flattening like this or any softening in the market. everyone wants the say this is the beginning of the end. it's hard to know that from any given episode. it doesn't seem like that at this point. >> reporter: this trend is not unusual. the inventory is still low. >> coming off of january, february, march. they tend to go down. around august, september they will start to g down again. the tud di finds 1.4% growth in median home prices. the smallest gain if years. homes are on the market a few weeks longer than usual. there's a reason for that. >> buyers are still wanting to get a bargain. when looking at prices they're not jumping on a house right away. >> reporter: how much are bay area homes going for? the median price, $643,000.

a san francisco supervisor would like to see city trees better maintained and have property owners pay for that. >> the funds given to public works are not enough but a proposed parcel tax would take care of it. >> reporter: the department of public works long ago acknowledged there's too many sidewalk trees to take care of. at one point they had up to 18 staff. today there are 11. for years it's been up to many homeowners to maintain them. >> when money is tight, that's when the money will be taken way for more pressing needs for helping human services. >> some people do a fantastic job. others either blow it off or they hire the cheapest possible who mutilates the trees. >> reporter: supervisor wants voters to decide on a partial tax that would supplement the tree maintenance budget. it would no longer be the

responsibility of homeowners. >> to assume city liability rather than property owners being liable. >> reporter: most property ordinary reason and prudence would pay between 25 and $40 a year. there are businesses that could be affected. christopher is private. 20% of his business comes back from cutting city trees by homeowners. he says the cities will have to hire subcontractors and worries they may not be up to his standards. >> they likely have a chance to put on the jobs but i'm not sure if the price point would work out for high quality work. >> reporter: the board of supervisors is expected to vote in june or july before it's taken to the voters in november. p. all right. we have been keeping track of the primaries going on in new york. abc news has declared hillary clinton the winner in new york's

california is stit urntd statewi still under a statewide order to save water. it may look wasteful but it's critical to keeping drinking water clean. for the first time in four years the city is flushing its waerts pipes releasing 1,000 gallons a minute on the street. it used to be standard practice over the bay area. fire hydrants open up and left to run. high velocity water scours the

pipe. they don't end up in the drinking water. when the drought hit many communities stopped regular pipe flushing to save water. we're happy and pleased about it lapping over the top of our boards and spillway. this provides about 40% of the water. >> reporter: crews let the water run until it clear. this took nine minutes. the team tests the hydrants to make sure they are ready for an emergency. >> we have 170 plus fire hydrants to do. it will take a few months. >> reporter: this process is happening in other bay area communities. not all reservoirs are full. not every agency is doing the same thing.

here in san francisco and east bay mud service areas officials tell us they are considering flushing some hydrants. for now they say they are doing it when absolutely necessary. >> reporter: in the south bay they are the first the to use the flushing system that saves waerts. it flushes the pipes by running water flu a filter so very little water ends up on the street. san jose cost half a million dollars and many districts don't have the money. for now, expect most agencies to keep flushing their pipes the old fashioned way. >> water officials say if you do see water gushing out of fire hydrants, do not assume the drought is over. we need some water from the sky. >> can't promise a good deal.
