abc7 news. >> gunfire rang out as they were leaving the park. abc7 news was in golden gate heights. this after a dispute between two groups turned violent. nobody was hut by the gunfire, but they did damage parked cars. neighbor say shootings are rare in this area. >> it is 4/20 and i don't know if anyone was celebrating. i thought maybe it was firecrackers or something. maybe i would say in a different neighborhood there is gunshots, but not here. >> police arrested one person after the incident. officers do not believe there was a link between the shoot expght nearby 4/20 celebration. >> new tonight, police released video that could help investigator close a 2-year-old homicide case. 33-year-old michael maynard was attacked on july 29th, 2014 near the plaza de ceaser chavez park. three people including a 14-year-old boy were arrested, but police believe they may

have been involved or have information about the killing. >> a woman is in the hospital after being hit by the ray street station. the incident caused the hour long delays on the mountain view line. 12 people were on the train involved in the disinterest and none were hurt. the city of sunnyvale is going through the task of finding homes for more than a hundred people. a fire broke out and scores are families are now homeless. lilian kim has the new details. >> it is all hands on deck at sunnyvale community services. social workers here are busier than ever trying to fine homes for 140 people. >> we are not used to waking up on a monday and saying well we now have 50 to 75 families who are displaced. >> it is unclear what started the fire and the fire department is still

investigating. the flames were contained to four units and everyone was told they couldn't return. >> the uh parments looked fine, but they were deemed uninhabitable because of smoke damage. smoke that is carried through the building. >> there is a lot of what am i going to do now? based on represents and other things i am getting by and everything seems to be working and then all of a sudden it is not. >> sunnyvale's mayor says the city that launched a go fund me campaign which at last count has raised $30,000 for the fire victims. other government agencies and corporations are also helping out. the challenge though is to find housing the families can afford long-term that can be hard to find in silicon valley. >> we had a lot of folks who were squeezing into tiny apartments, multiple families and we are seeing that as a risk as well. how do we safely house them in the appropriate housing they can afford. >> for now they are being housed in motel because the old apartment building remains off limits. lilian kim, abc7 news.

a scare involving a girl in san mateo has police on the lookout. the 11 gerald girl says -- 11-year-old girl says a suspicious man followed her home as she walked home. this is near south norfolk street north of highway 92. when a family member called out to her the man walked away. last night we introduced you to the family from hawaii who is here waiting for their son to have surgery for a brain tumor. >> white visiting fisherman's wharf somebody broke into their car and stole their belongings including some of their son's medical records. >> tonight there is an outpouring of help. vic lee has more on the story. >> we are trying to help out. >> thank you. we appreciate the support. >> they were at the offices of the san francisco police officers association. they were given hats, pens and other police souvenirs. >> last night we were made aware of this family being victimized. >> he, his parents and two

brothers came to san francisco from their home on kuai. he will have surgery next week to remove a brain tumor. on friday they played tourist on the wharf near pier 39. thieves broke into their car and took their bags. most important to his mother, the get well cards from family and friend. >> i was saving them for him to read to him when he was in the hospital during recovery. those are the things that can't be replaced. >> the most expensive item stolen is his brother's laptop and camera. 16-year-old keeley is a budding photographer. he took this beautiful picture on his camera. the poa offered to replace the stolen items and so today they went shopping at best buy. he got a new laptop and a new camera. >> is this what you want? >> yes. this is exakly what i had. >> we saw a 406% increase in

the central district of san francisco. >> that includes fisherman's wharf. they have been trying to get the message out to tourists to stop leaving valuables in their cars. it includes these stickers that are posted around the area. better yet they want to stick the warnings on parking meters. vic lee, abc7 news. >> in sports the warriors flew to houston for game three of their playoff series. they held a light workout. steph curry did participate sore ankle and all. he tweaked his ankle in game one of the series and sat out of game two and listed as questionable for game three tomorrow night. the mvp appeared to be pain free today so the question is will he suit up and play tomorrow? we will hear from curry in sports. abc7 news sports anchor mike shumann is covering games three and four. the live reports begin tomorrow at 4:00 and you can follow him at mike shumann for a behind the scenes look at

campbell and all the bay area, this is abc7 news. >> giants catcher buster posey made an emotional announcement before the game. he and his wife are kicking off a campaign to help children with cancer. >> with young patients and their parents in the audience, posey was almost brought to tears. katie is live at at&t park. katie? >> ama and dan, the poseys are clearly passionate about this issue. this is the new limited edition hat. part of the proceeds go to help cancer research. you can only get them at official stores like this one. >> buster posey had to pause as he explained they came face-to-face with pediatric cancer. >> her child was diagnosed with neuro blass stoma -- neuro blastoma. all right. i will pull it together.

>> kristen met a woman whose son was sick. the little boy was the same age as the posey's twins. >> i had no idea the lack of funding it receives and once i found that out it is like buster said, i did not want to sit back and do nothing. >> what they are doing is raising money and awareness. proceeds from these new hats will help kids with cancer and families will get to go to giants games and raise money for cancer. >> having a big name like buster posey to bring awareness to something is amazing. >> colby got to meet buster and spend time on the field on the same day he finished chemotherapy for a brain tumor. >> he talked about a lot of things. >> we want to be a bright spot and these kids and these families today. >> they hope the new campaign is only the beginning in the fight against pediatric cancer. at at at&t park, abc7 news.

>> a big wave surf contest will beheld for women. it is all still in the work, but possible locations are baja, mexico and maui. they said the contest is in response to a swell of women taking on big waves. female surfers could hit the water as early as next year. a famous professional woman wrestler has died. joan knee known as "china" has died. she is known with her time with the world wrestling federation. her manager confirmed she was found dead in her redondo beach home. china's cause of death has not been released. the british government has a new warning for gay people traveling in the u.s. after two states interest doused anti-gala. the foreign office issued this advice saying take care
