>> it is sunday, april 24th. good morning and thanks for joining us. i'm chris nguyen in for carolyn tyler. frances dinglasan is in for lisa argen with a live look at the weather. good morning. >> good morning. live doppler 7hd showing us clearing now, developing in the north bay and the clouds are also starting to move out. the big story is the wind for today. along the coast and around the inland areas highlighted in yellow here. a wind advisory in effect from midnight to 3:00 p.m. this could lead to some local power outages. winds are light but the coast it's gusty and breezy. could be up to 50 miles per hour later on today in half moon bay.

most temperatures now starting to climb into the upper 50s. santa rosa 58, novato 57. i'll have your complete accuweather seven-day forecast coming up with also a chance of rain in the forecast. chris >> thanks. breaking news out of northern wisconsin. an 18-year-old boy who opens fire on a high school prom died in the hospital a short time ago after being shot by police. i shot two students last night before he was taken down. those students are lucky to be alive. the male victim is in surgery but the female victim has been released from the hospital. they were patrolling the bark lot when the gunfire erupted. it's not clear if he was a student at the school. back at home, the solar impulse 2 ended a three-day trip from hawaii using nothing but the power of the sun, finishing another leg of an unprecedented around-the-world night. lisa amin gulezian brings us the story.

>> a 25-year-old man was rescued in the water near san francisco's cliff house after high surf swept him away. a team. firefighters and beach two pagan troll rescuers brought the man to safety near the great highway. victim survived the encounter. . fire department said the man was able to wade closer to short but it took the help of the fire department, the beach lifeguards and coast guard to bring him back safely. >> it's been extremely dangerous conditions this season. it's always dangerous but we had an el nino winter and we had a lot of high surf advisories almost every weekend. >> the fire department says beachgoers have underestimated the fierceness of the waves >> a special mass today for the two 17-year-old boys who disappeared last weekend from ocean beach. the rescue and search was called after the two were separated by their friends by the treacherous surf. a special mass will be held to

for the goals today in sienna. a big fire raced through an electronics recycling center in gilroy last night. this video shows how intense it was. broke out around 6:00 last night on meat tech building. you can see the smoke pouring from the building and visibility that was visible for miles. sky hd was overhead showing crews hitting hotspots with water. the fire was brought under control within an hour and a half, but investigators are still trying to determine how many damage it caused. oakland firefighters rescued a man inside this home that -- the city spent two days fixing it the line and repairing the street. turning to south america where the death toll in last week's massive earthquake in ecuador now stands at 654 people. one of the bay area's leading

seismic experts is flying there to help assess the damage. he spoke with sergio quintana, who also talked to a bay area couple who survived the quake. >> seismic expert is on his way to lend his expertise to the effort. >> one of the most important aspects of an event like this is a damage assessment. in many cases the government just can't handle that because it's a widespread earthquake. >> these are pictures from two residents were there when the quake struck. >> it lasted 49 seconds and some people said it was 65 seconds. it didn't end. we were on the streets and it was continuing to roll. vacationing there. then they started helping with the relief efforts. >> this is the supplies that we put together. >> this is video they shot on their phones of community volunteers and other tourists helping put together care packages for residents.

>> i think he will be fine. it's hard to tell how many minutes he will play, how well he will play, who knows, but he has a lot of confidence in his game, and i think the last two days have given him confidence in his body, and that's important. >> steph's rhythm and conditioning will be the rust factor in game four. >> it's possible i will be able to focus on my second wind pretty quick tomorrow. i don't foresee that being an issue going forward. >> and you will gauge his conditioning throughout the game? keep an eye on that also? >> yeah, yeah, the conditioning and the rhythm after being off that long, it's an issue. but we will monitor that. and steph doesn't take too long to get his rhythm back usually, so i think he will be fine. >> there's always the kernel the kernel reinjure the ankle come back too soon. >> it's stable.

now but most of us are in the upper 50s, mid-to upper 50s. san francisco 56, oakland 59, as well as mountain view. san jose 58 degrees. morgan hill at 54 and half moon bay is 55 degrees. live shot from our roof shows the flag blowing and the winds are really going to pick up this afternoon. so we will have a gusty afternoon and evening. windy again tomorrow, but not as bad. and then a chance of rain midweek. so i'll show you that, as well. here's a forecast animation. wind gusts. notice all along the coast we see 44 miles per hour, 31 and 36 at half moon bay. also breezy around the bay, 25 miles per hour in oakland and even this evening the wind will continue to be strong until about midnight when the wind advisory expires. also, as we show you the clouds, they are going to be moving south and clearing in the afternoon and this evening.

also notice the winds are coming from the northwest so that allows temperatures to come down a little bit. we will be slightly below average when most areas in the mid-60s to upper 60s. breezy inland. very windy at the coast, 63 san francisco. 68 in san jose. now with the clearing sky tonight we will lose a lot of heat but temperatures will be cool, as well. in the 40s for the most part with low 40s in santa rosa, napa, and 48 in san francisco. 46 in palo alto. now, here's the forecast animation for wednesday. we are dropping this, a slight chance of rain. i don't know if you notice by wednesday morning we could see possibly some sprinkles along the peninsula coast. maybe even something in the north bay. but some of our models are showing very little rain to maybe .2-inch in some areas. here's another interesting thing about the week ahead in terms of temperatures. san jose average high is 72. we are cooler than that.
