muslim faith. cal fire is seeking the biggest reimbursement for a wildfire, asking for $90 million from pgee. with what this exposed. nine months later the tree came into contact with a power line. two people died and nearly 500 homes burned down. a big raid on a home in san jose being run, police say as a gambling den. apparent lit was no secret to neighbors in the allen rock area. vic lee is live with the latest on this. vic? >> reporter: police raided ru puted gambling den inside of a home just two doors down from where we're standing and neighbors, well, everyone seemed to know all about it.

one neighbor told us it started about 7:00 until midnight and she saw all kinds of people coming in and out of the house at all times of the day and night. and this isn't the first time police raided this home. neighbors said this was not the first time. >> the house was busted. they cleaned it out. and later they were back in business. >> this neighbor lives right in back of the house. >> he busted two people in the backyard and other people i don't know if they came over our fence or not. >> she took cell phone images.

this one, a female suspect, and a man, taken into custody. the neighbor told us those who ran threw evidence around the yard. >> i think some poker chips, dice, we had poker chips and dice around the backyard. >> all police would say is that it's a peaceful ending and they're interviewing a lot of people right now. a search is underway for this missing man, last seen in his home in hayward yesterday, around dinner time. he's described hispanic, bald, and 5, 5. last seen wearing a straw hat, gray sweater vest, black shirt and pants. and he may be disoriented. call police immediately, please, if you see him. bart is considering installing license plate readers in every bart parking lot.

right now the cameras are installed at mcarthur station but not yet turned on. advocates question the need to collect this information and bart formed a committee to decide what the information will be used for and how long it will be stored. mark davis announced he is willing to moist team to las vegas. he pledged $300 million to raiders stadium in the city. he made the announcement alongside david beckham to show how it could be used for other sports. >> if this panel recommends requested funding, and the nfl approves the deal, the raiders plan to contribute half a billion to this project. davis said he wants the team to stay in oakland, but notes there have been no progress on a plan for a new stadium.

a new study on crime in california college campuses tapped an unwelcome spotlight on three universities. >> the school with the highest crime rate may come as a shock to many people. kristin? >> reporter: we think of stanford as a safe, wealthy enclave. not according to data from 2012-2014 showing stanford has the highest crime rate per student in the state, nearly eight crimes per thousand students. uc berkeley comes in second highest. and uc santa cruz, tied for third with ucla, with 2.8 crimes per thousand students.

the study compiled data on all types of crimes from violent to property crimes and included allegations reported to professors, nonprofessors and police, of particular note, 51 burglaries and 30 sexual offenses. >> a lot of campuses have the issue. >> i feel safe here and never felt unsafe on campus. >> a spokesperson tells abc7 news numbers feel high because a large number of students live on campus so, crimes that happen in residential settings are reflected in the stats. ama? >> thank you, kristin. san jose police relesioned sketches of three suspects wanted for a violent robbery last month. take a look. police say the men beat and stabbed their victim before

stealing valuables at 5:00 in the morning march 10th. the victim survived. police in pacifica are looking for a man who is believed to have shot his pregnant ex-girlfriend. police say he tried to kidnap her, she resisted and he shot her she is eight months pregnant. johnson and her unborn child are expected to be okay. baby birds are falling out of trees and nests in the urban heart of downtown oakland. now, the rescue has begun. abc7 news reporter laura anthony joins us live from fairfield with a story you'll see only on 7. laura? >> reporter: we're here at the international bird rescue center in fairfield. so far, they have received nine of the birds. these are young herrons, about a month old.

this this is their first night out. others are arriving here by the day. it's nesting season in downtown oakland for the herons in the trees. there is danger lurking below. that is why they have come to the aid of those who can't make it here. >> the problem is that it's natural to fall out of the net but they can't get back up in the trees. >> a team from the zoo is the first to respond once volunteers spot a bird in distress. >> some are hurt from the fall. so they'll take a look but we get them to the rescue center. >> this is a guy from oakland.

it's been a week since the death of prince. the 57-year-old musician reportedly entered an out patient treatment program to help him deal with chronic hip pain. it was learned prescription

drugs were found on prince and in his home. autopsy reports will take weeks to complete. we learned a judge issued a warrant to search the musicians home. bay area researchers believe it could be used to treat heart disease and. >> the treem of repairing hearts, damaged by a heart attack has been a frustrating challenge. unlike other parts of the body, hearts don't contain enough adult stem cells to help them regenerate. >> in a major break through, the team at gladstone institute say they've identified a cocktail of molecules that can prompt skin cells into becoming living and beating heart cells and when

bay area housing crisis just hit home for some uc berkeley students. they found out home could be farther than they thought. housing isn't guaranteed for university of california students. and some received an e-mail asking if they would accept housing ten miles from campus.

>> mills college has a stunning campus at one time all students lived here, but now, they have extra housing. >> we have a sizeable commuter population. that gives us an opportunity to try to work to meet some of the needs. >> uc would get $25 million in funds if they agree to take in more in state students. 10,000 moreover three years. they have to be freshmen or transfers. >> it does bring up a problem, where are you going to house these students? >> call is students. there is no agreement, students received an e-mail asking if they would be interested.

the chihuahua found loose running on the pier has found a new home. after nearly a month of foster care, ponch was handed to his family this afternoon. they say they fell in love with ponch before meeting him. >> my husband saw him on tv and fell in love with him and that clinched it. >> ponch was put up for adoption. the woman who fostered him says he is shy but likes to run. and we saw that on the bay bridge. >> in two weeks a bay area landmark will reopen for the first time in years. abc7 news got a look at what visitors will see inside of the museum of modern art. work is underway on a cultural
