outside the gop convention compared to friday. that's when hundreds showed up to rally against donald trump. up can see from sky 7hd, the republican presidential candidate was forced to detour his motorcade and hike across the ramp to highway 101 to get into the convention. >> 6:03 is our time. ohio governor and republican presidential candidate john kasich hosted a town hall yesterday at the tech museum of innovation in san jose. >> now i'm running for president with the same ideas, the same initiatives, to give people a chance to rise, and most particularly to begin fixing this economy because it is just really terrible. >> kasich said american's healthcare system needs to be more transparent to the people and we need to tackle the drug

problem plaguing our nation. >> the combination for senator bernie sanders opened an office in oakland's rockridge neighborhood yesterday. this is his second in the state. his campaign owned their first office in l.a. earlier this month. and hillary clinton opened an office in downtown oakland thursday. it's located at 14th and franklin, and she's schedule today campaign from there on friday. the democratic presidential candidate will first had make a stop in los angeles on thursday. of the presidential primary take place on june 7th the. we are less than 60 days away from the california primary. for the latest of each. candidates on the campaign trail, as well as their visits to california, be sure to down loud our abc7 news app and enable push alerts. happening today the memorial to mark the first anniversary of a mother and her young daughter in livermore who were killed by an alleged drunk driver.

last year an may 2nd 36-year-old brian jones left the wine festival when he killed the woman and her 14-month-old daughter. the community will come together to honor them and two other boys injured at the site of the crash on marietta boulevard. > this morning the authorities want your help to find a missing milbrae man who was last seen thursday night. friends spent yesterday evening searching for keith green. his phone was found in the park friday morning. he left all of his belongings behind in the milbrae. anyone with information is urged to contact authorities. today is supposed to be the start of a new swim season for more than 200 kids. but now they may be left high and dry after a san ramon golf course abruptly closed their swimming pool. their swim club said they have nowhere to go. this is the story you will see only on abc7. >> the waters of the san ramon golf course pool are still. this weekend dozens of kids

would be gearing up for the first day of their swim club season. >> first practice day is a very exciting day for us. we are all meeting together and getting our swimsuits. >> but signs have been posted and this letter from the property manager warns the pool is closed because it's no longer financially viable. the co-president of the aqua bear swim club said the carpet has been pulled out from under them. >> my friend thought someone had just died, and i said i think the aqua bears just died. >> sarah said she got word from the property the manager at 4:30 friday afternoon. parents are especially frustrated because they had been reassured after a new owner that took over in january that they could use the pool this season. >> they had plenty of opportunity to tell us they would shut the pool down which would give us an opportunity to find another location. at this point all the pools are filled up. >> the kids are shocked. >> this team is what brought all my friends here together, and it's like part of me, and when i it gets taken away, a bunch. myself gets taken away too.

>> many of these kids have known each other for years. the swimmers range from 8 to 18 years old. even their current coach was a former team swimmer. he and his six assistants may be out of the job. >> we need the pool open for three more months. >> she's hoping for a quick solution >> the president of the aqua bears tells me she's still holding out hope. she's going to be happening a meeting with the golf club management team on monday. she's hoping they can work something out. in san ramon, abc7 news. in san francisco a group is continueing their hunger strike because they want to get police chief greg suhr fired, hopes to meet with the mayor this week. they were in the mission district this afternoon for a rally for the frisco five. they are unhappy how the chief handled a series of deadly police shootings. the chief said he has no plans to step down. but the activists say they are gaining support.

>> these aren't just activists out here. there are people out here now that weren't in support before and they are questioning him now. all the protesters saw a doctor yesterday. they plan to march to mayor ed lee's office on tuesday. now to the north bay. a 100-foot tree fell on to a home and three parked vehicles. you see the damage to one s.u.v. this valley oak tree toppled yesterday morning. no one was hurt. one home has damage, but it's structurally safe. crews spent all afternoon cleaning up and trimming the trees and they are concerned other trees could come down. >> we are concerned another tree will come down and hurt someone walking by or neighbors in the area. >> police believe the tree had decayed and was showing signs of rot. friday night high winds appeared to be just too much more it.

and it's 50 in morgan hill. ex-moratorium camera, the winds will be much, much lighter today. and out of the east or the north. so it looks like we are looking at not only a quick warmup, but with less wind it will feel a lot warmer too. 47 livermore. 53 concord. 61 fairfield. low 50s for you in santa rosa and a cool 46 as the cool air descends into the napa valley. so that's where it's cooler in the valleys of our east bay. livermore, napa, 11 to 14 degrees cooler. feels good out there actually. and slightly warmer in hayward and san jose. so it's been a windy week. maybe you like the lack of wind. but with the wind coming from the east and the north, we are looking at that dry, dry air. so not too soon really to think about fire danger and have that on your mind to be careful out there today. clear skies this morning. sunny and warm today with showers possibly on thursday. you know another chance over the

weekend. the cut-off low will meander about throughout southern california and west of there. that could keep us in the chancy category the second half of the week. with temperatures in the mid-50s. water temperatures off the santa cruz coast, san francisco low 50s. it's going to be nice along the coast. half moon bay one of the cooler spots at 69. dough bagga bay 68. but elsewhere low 70s. and this is when the sea breeze kicks in. we will have a mild day at the shoreline. look what happens tomorrow. still have some of those oranges out toward the east but already we begin our cool down. tonight we will have a southerly surge. the low clouds and fog will begin to filter in. by tuesday we are almost back to normal around the bay. and by wednesday we are looking at a weather system headed our way. and another one in the second half of the later part of the upcoming work week that will allow for showers not only in the sierra nevada, southern california, maybe around here. but today its nothing but sun and warmth with 81 in oakland.

>> good morning and thanks for joining us. i'm chris nguyen. we can expect warm conditions across the area today. let's send it over to lisa argen. she's tracking weather where you live. hi, lisa. >> good morning. here's in san jose you notice the clear sky. it's 55. it's 60 in oakland. 59 in san francisco. and more upper 40s around morgan hill. from our exploratorium camera, sunshine and temperatures in the north bay are cool from 46 in napa to 51 in santa rosa. 53 in concord and a few more 40s out toward the livermore valley. 47 there. so with less wind and the clear sky and a big dome of high pressure in control that allows us to warm to 80 about noontime. mid-80s in the east bay. and look at the south bay. the oranges here. 70s replaced with 60s today

at the coastline. chris >> thanks, lisa. breaking news out of washington, d.c. right now. a freight train has derailed this morning. the derailment sent several cars off the track spilling hazardous materials. the train was traveling from maryland to north carolina. with he are told at least one derailed car is leaking sodium hydroxide which is used to produce various household products, including paper, soap and detergents. crews are working to contain the leak. no injuries reported. the big story across the country this weekend is deadly and destructive severe storms. more than 120 storm reports in 24 hours. s in texas a wall of water has now claimed six lives, four of them were children.

democratic candidates hillary clinton and bernie sanders also took the day off. clinton is pulling ahead of sanders in indiana. she hopes a win there will strengthen her status as the likely nominee. >> and the donald trump moves closer to the gop nomination, ted cruz is speaking out. he will be on "this week" just two days before the make-or-break indiana primary. he leads with 34% of voters with trumps 29%. you can watch the interview on "this week" at 8:00 this morning on abc7. >> happening today hundreds of s people will descend on fruitvale plaza to march for international workers day, also known as may day. community members and organizations from across the bay area will be rallying to build support for economic and social justice. this is video from last year's event. labor movements used the day to recognize workers right. it is at noon followed by the march at the 1:00. >> this is another rally here for may day at the international longshore and warehouse union

hall on north street near fishermen's wharf. it will then head toward the ferry building. it starts at 11:00 this morning. s uber and advocates for the blind have reached a lawsuit settlement. the ride sharing company agreed to provide that existing and new drivers -- that they understand they legally must transport riders with guide dogs or service animals. in the federation for the blind also said that uber will immediately fire a driver after a single complaint if it determines the driver knowingly ied denied a person a ride because they were traveling with a service animal. it resulted after a lawsuit against uber. about. >> doctors can't explain it. a woman who was blind for 21 years as regained her sight. mary ann franco lost her sight after a serious car crash. recently she had fell at home and had surgery on her neck. when she woke up, she could see. >> i could see the sun and the clouds and the birds and squirrels running up and down the light poles.

6:46 is our time. lisa, a break from the wind, but some warmth is the big story today? >> yeah, not the heat. you are right. warmer air from the upper elevations working down to the surface. it's here. and without the wind, boy, the warmup is already underway. sun was up at 6:13. so really from here on out it's about temperatures warming quickly with that offshore flow. we can even talk about fire danger, a one-day event. but tomorrow the low clouds and fog and the sea breeze. but tonight the winds will shift around and we will have a southerly surge that will cool off the beaches around monterey later today. right now a huge dome of high pressure. clouds going up and over the ridge. santa cruz 890 degrees yesterday. not as farm today because winds will shift late in the day and the fog, stratus will be offshore and you will get a pretty from good breeze by the

afternoon. in santa cruz, monterey, low 70s. 59 in san francisco. 60 oakland. 57 mountain view and mid-50s san jose. still 40s half moon bay and morgan hill. and as we look at the flags here, look how flat. there is no wind ata. we are looking at maybe 15 miles an hour at best. and you are going to have to be right on the coast for that. maybe up by point reyes or alema where temperatures will still be filed. 46 in novato and napa where the cool air is draining into the valley. 61 by the delta. 47 livermore. and even on the peninsula, temperatures will warm quickly and we could see 70 around half moon bay, pacifica. from the east bay hills camera looking at the clear sky this morning, sunny and warm. how about warmer today for most of you? and cooler with a chance of showers come thursday, lingering into the weekend. in fact, the sierra nevada all week long will see some pop-up showers. it will be a little bit

unsettled there, all the way down down to the southern sierra, as well. water temperatures lower. and the light sea breeze. high u.v. index. it be very nice with numbers near 70 ocean beach and half moon bay. and santa cruz still very pleasant at 76 degrees. we have partly cloudy skies. and in the last frame of this loop you see the green here with all the shower activity firing in the sierra nevada. not a lot, but that will be the theme for the next several days. partly cloudy in monterey. we are looking at low 70s in los angeles. certainly not as farm there. here's where we are looking at some interesting things. here comes the southerly surge, the stratus. this is tomorrow. sunshine for our afternoon. but then look what happens into tuesday. some clouds. then we are looking at some activity in the sierra come tuesday night into wednesday. and then by thursday some of this could drift into the bay area. so this is where we pick it up late on thursday.

ama daetz has more. >> inside the san francisco museum of modern art, work is underbe way on a cultural destination. outside work is complete on the $305 million, 20-story, 225,000 square foot addition. >> it's grown tremendously. probably tripled the former size. we are one of the largest museums devoted to modern art in the world. >> they built a new building in 1995. >> remarkably in 20 short years, we outgrew the building >> the collection has grown in popularity and size, exploding from 12,000 pieces to roughly 32,000 works of art. there are 1100 works from don and doris fisher. they are co-founders of the gap. >> they had a deep affection for the museum, so it was a natural thing in the end we have this partnership with the museum to bring all the works in the fisher collection to the museum for everyone in san francisco

and everyone that comes to this museum to see. >> the fisher collection is so big, only a quarter of it will be on display when the museum opens on may 14th. the museum has been closed since 2013. opening day is already sold out. the new building is expected to be as big of an attraction as the art. the expansion was designed by renown architectural firm. >> we engaged them because they seemed to have the ability not only to create great spaces for art, but great welcoming, warm, engaging spaces for people, as well. >> visitors will immediately see the difference. a massive staircase replaces the old one. there will be 40,000 square feet on the ground floor open to the public free of charge. that's as much space as they had prior to the museum expansion. a massive living wall will help tie the inside to the outside. the gallery spaces will be grand, as well. each of the seven floors is bathed in natural light. exterior is designed to mimic san francisco's maritime
