would be gearing up for the first day of their swim club season. >> first practice day is a very exciting day for us. we are all meeting together and getting our swimsuits. >> but signs have been posted and this letter from the property manager warns the pool is closed because it's no longer financially viable. the co-president of the aqua bear swim club said the carpet has been pulled out from under them. >> my friend thought someone had just died, and i said i think the aqua bears just died. >> sarah said she got word from the property the manager at 4:30 friday afternoon. parents are especially frustrated because they had been reassured after a new owner that took over in january that they could use the pool this season. >> they had plenty of opportunity to tell us they would shut the pool down which would give us an opportunity to find another location. at this point all the pools are filled up. >> the kids are shocked. >> this team is what brought all my friends here together, and it's like part of me, and when i it gets taken away, a bunch. myself gets taken away too.

>> these aren't just activists out here. there are people out here now that weren't in support before and they are questioning him now. all the protesters saw a doctor yesterday. they plan to march to mayor ed lee's office on tuesday. now to the north bay. a 100-foot tree fell on to a home and three parked vehicles. you see the damage to one s.u.v. this valley oak tree toppled yesterday morning. no one was hurt. one home has damage, but it's structurally safe. crews spent all afternoon cleaning up and trimming the trees and they are concerned other trees could come down. >> we are concerned another tree will come down and hurt someone walking by or neighbors in the area. >> police believe the tree had decayed and was showing signs of rot. friday night high winds appeared to be just too much more it.

at the coastline. chris >> thanks, lisa. breaking news out of washington, d.c. right now. a freight train has derailed this morning. the derailment sent several cars off the track spilling hazardous materials. the train was traveling from maryland to north carolina. with he are told at least one derailed car is leaking sodium hydroxide which is used to produce various household products, including paper, soap and detergents. crews are working to contain the leak. no injuries reported. the big story across the country this weekend is deadly and destructive severe storms. more than 120 storm reports in 24 hours. s in texas a wall of water has now claimed six lives, four of them were children.

hall on north street near fishermen's wharf. it will then head toward the ferry building. it starts at 11:00 this morning. s uber and advocates for the blind have reached a lawsuit settlement. the ride sharing company agreed to provide that existing and new drivers -- that they understand they legally must transport riders with guide dogs or service animals. in the federation for the blind also said that uber will immediately fire a driver after a single complaint if it determines the driver knowingly ied denied a person a ride because they were traveling with a service animal. it resulted after a lawsuit against uber. about. >> doctors can't explain it. a woman who was blind for 21 years as regained her sight. mary ann franco lost her sight after a serious car crash. recently she had fell at home and had surgery on her neck. when she woke up, she could see. >> i could see the sun and the clouds and the birds and squirrels running up and down the light poles.

6:46 is our time. lisa, a break from the wind, but some warmth is the big story today? >> yeah, not the heat. you are right. warmer air from the upper elevations working down to the surface. it's here. and without the wind, boy, the warmup is already underway. sun was up at 6:13. so really from here on out it's about temperatures warming quickly with that offshore flow. we can even talk about fire danger, a one-day event. but tomorrow the low clouds and fog and the sea breeze. but tonight the winds will shift around and we will have a southerly surge that will cool off the beaches around monterey later today. right now a huge dome of high pressure. clouds going up and over the ridge. santa cruz 890 degrees yesterday. not as farm today because winds will shift late in the day and the fog, stratus will be offshore and you will get a pretty from good breeze by the

afternoon. in santa cruz, monterey, low 70s. 59 in san francisco. 60 oakland. 57 mountain view and mid-50s san jose. still 40s half moon bay and morgan hill. and as we look at the flags here, look how flat. there is no wind ata. we are looking at maybe 15 miles an hour at best. and you are going to have to be right on the coast for that. maybe up by point reyes or alema where temperatures will still be filed. 46 in novato and napa where the cool air is draining into the valley. 61 by the delta. 47 livermore. and even on the peninsula, temperatures will warm quickly and we could see 70 around half moon bay, pacifica. from the east bay hills camera looking at the clear sky this morning, sunny and warm. how about warmer today for most of you? and cooler with a chance of showers come thursday, lingering into the weekend. in fact, the sierra nevada all week long will see some pop-up showers. it will be a little bit

unsettled there, all the way down down to the southern sierra, as well. water temperatures lower. and the light sea breeze. high u.v. index. it be very nice with numbers near 70 ocean beach and half moon bay. and santa cruz still very pleasant at 76 degrees. we have partly cloudy skies. and in the last frame of this loop you see the green here with all the shower activity firing in the sierra nevada. not a lot, but that will be the theme for the next several days. partly cloudy in monterey. we are looking at low 70s in los angeles. certainly not as farm there. here's where we are looking at some interesting things. here comes the southerly surge, the stratus. this is tomorrow. sunshine for our afternoon. but then look what happens into tuesday. some clouds. then we are looking at some activity in the sierra come tuesday night into wednesday. and then by thursday some of this could drift into the bay area. so this is where we pick it up late on thursday.

you can see the activity there. and then by friday we've got a cut-off low that kind of meanders off the coast here. so it will keep us cool. bringing in extra clouds and maybe scattered showers by the end of the week. 84 san jose. look for near 70s at the beaches. sea breeze late in the day. 81 oakland. and speaking of the east bay we will look for the temperatures to be in the upper 70s to mid-70s. hoping you are going to get a little bit of a breeze in the afternoon there. so we are cooler tomorrow everywhere. and then near average tuesday. maybe a few sprinkles wednesday into thursday. another system behind that one, keeping it cool. kind. cloudy, and maybe a chance of rain. >> it's definitely feeling like summer this weekend near the bay. >> i know. >> thank you. in less than two weeks, a bay area landmark will open their doors for the first time in years. abc7 got an exclusive look what visitors will see once they are inside the new san francisco museum of modern art.

ama daetz has more. >> inside the san francisco museum of modern art, work is underbe way on a cultural destination. outside work is complete on the $305 million, 20-story, 225,000 square foot addition. >> it's grown tremendously. probably tripled the former size. we are one of the largest museums devoted to modern art in the world. >> they built a new building in 1995. >> remarkably in 20 short years, we outgrew the building >> the collection has grown in popularity and size, exploding from 12,000 pieces to roughly 32,000 works of art. there are 1100 works from don and doris fisher. they are co-founders of the gap. >> they had a deep affection for the museum, so it was a natural thing in the end we have this partnership with the museum to bring all the works in the fisher collection to the museum for everyone in san francisco

and everyone that comes to this museum to see. >> the fisher collection is so big, only a quarter of it will be on display when the museum opens on may 14th. the museum has been closed since 2013. opening day is already sold out. the new building is expected to be as big of an attraction as the art. the expansion was designed by renown architectural firm. >> we engaged them because they seemed to have the ability not only to create great spaces for art, but great welcoming, warm, engaging spaces for people, as well. >> visitors will immediately see the difference. a massive staircase replaces the old one. there will be 40,000 square feet on the ground floor open to the public free of charge. that's as much space as they had prior to the museum expansion. a massive living wall will help tie the inside to the outside. the gallery spaces will be grand, as well. each of the seven floors is bathed in natural light. exterior is designed to mimic san francisco's maritime
