>> it is sunday, may 1st. thanks for joining us. i'm chris nguyen in for carolyn tyler. we have a warm day on tap here in the bay area. let's send it over to meteorologist lisa argen for a live look at doppler hd. hi, lisa. >> hi, chris. the winds are very, very light and where we have it most of it is light offshore. that will aid in the quick warmup today. warmer than yesterday. check out the numbers right now. we are in the upper 60s in mountain view, 66 san jose. oakland 67. upper 50s in half moon bay and morgan hill. we are looking at a return to a breeze later on today, but no stratus, no fog. it will stay clear and warm for most of the day. 72 by the delta. 66 santa rosa, 67 napa. novato 64.

68 in concord and 63 livermore. today the sea breeze for southerly winds kicks in here. instead of the mid-and upper 70s works he will see low 70s. but still look at the low to mid-80s around the bay and inland today. chris. >> lisa, thanks. the western conference semifinals between the golden state warriors and the portland trail blazers begins today right here on abc7. fans are getting ready for another great series. tiffany wilson is live at oracle arena with more. tiffany, good morning. in. >> good morning, chris. it's a huge day at oracle arena. you see the practice balls are already lined up behind me and the teams are ready to go. as you mentioned, the warriors taking on the portland trail blazers. the trail blazers saying they are entering as the underdogs and they have nothing to use. the warriors have to rely on their bench with steph curry out with the sprained knee. at this point the earliest we expect to see curry on the court is mayedth, but he's hoping to make it back sooner.

to produce various household products, including paper, soaps and detergents. crews have contained the leak and no injuries reported. the cause of the derailment is under investigation. back in the bay area. carly fiorina spoke at the state republican convention last night. >> ladies and gentlemen, carly fiorina! >> the former presidential candidate, and now running mate to ted cruz, made it clear. she and cruz are ready to fight. >> we don't have a nominee until that nominee has 1,237 votes. donald trump doesn't have it. donald trump is not going to get it. >> in day two of the california gop convention, fiorina focused on helping small businesses and shifting power away from government. -- or from washington. >> our government has gotten bigger, more powerful, more corrupt, more incompetent.

his motorcade and hike across the ramp to highway 101 to get into the convention. trump tweeted yesterday saying the protesters in california were thugs and criminals. many are professionals and they should be dealt with strongly by law enforcement. ohio governor and republican presidential candidate john kasich hosted a town hall yesterday at the tech museum of innovation in san jose. he were wants to keep things fresh, and based on opportunity. >> now i'm running for president with the same ideas, the same initiatives, to give people a chance to rise, and most particularly to begin fixing this economy because it is just really terrible. >> kasich said american's healthcare system needs to be more transparent to the people and we need to tackle the drug problem plaguing our nation. >> senator bernie sanders opened an office in oakland's rockridge neighborhood yesterday. this is his second in the state.

starting fall 2017. she was spotted at stanford a couple weeks ago when she came to the guy area for fundraisers. she will graduate high school in june and take one year off before starting classes at harvard. today was supposed to be the start of the new swim season for more than 1200 kids. now they may be left high and dry after a san ramon golf course abruptly closed their swimming pool. the swim club said they have nowhere to go. the story that you will see only on abc7 news. >> the waters of the san ramon golf course pool are still. this weekend dozens of kids would be gearing up for the first day of their swim club season. >> first practice day is a very exciting day for us. we are all meeting together and getting our swimsuits. >> but signs have been posted and this letter from the property manager warns the pool is closed because it's no longer financially viable. the co-president of the aqua bear swim club said the carpet has been pulled out from under them.

>> my friend thought someone had just died, and i said i think the aqua bears might have just died. >> sarah said she got word from the property the manager at 4:30 friday afternoon. parents are especially frustrated because they had been reassured after a new owner that took over in january said they could use the pool this season. >> they had plenty of opportunity to tell us they would shut the pool down which would give us an opportunity to find another location. at this point all the pools are filled up. >> the kids are shocked. >> this team is what brought all my friends here together, and it's like part of me, and when i it gets taken away, a bunch. -- a bunch of myself gets taken away too. >> many of these kids have known each other for years. the swimmers range from 8 to 18 years old. even their current coach was a former team swimmer. he and his six assistants may be out of the job. >> let's talk and work it out. we need the pool open for three more months. >> she's hoping for a quick solution >> the president of the aqua bears tells me she's still holding out hope. she's going to be happening a

9:16, the time. it will be a warm day across the bay area. >> yeah, it will be nice in san francisco, in the mid-70s. less wind so it will feel warmer and the rest of the bay area, yeah, we are going to crank it up today because yesterday it felt like the islands with the breeze. the 60s at the coast replaced by 70s and about two to three degrees warmer in the inland valleys and the south bay and peninsula. you see the huge dome of high pressure over the bay area. we still have showers firing in the sierra nevada later on today, but at our beaches it will be very nice. this is santa cruz. you are going to get into a southerly flow late in the day, and usually with that you get the gusty winds and the fog. it will be breezy. you won't have the fog and i don't think the winds will be too gusty. it will wait until later on in the afternoon. so it will be cooler today here. you won't reach that 80 probably, but still mid-70s. and then we will see some of the low cloudiness fill in tonight.

there's not even any fog down along the central coast right now. it's very clear out there. 64 san francisco, 67 oakland, mountain view. san jose, morganville and half moon bay in the 60s. one of the unusual days the coast will warm up as well. 66 in santa rosa. look at the low 70s for you by the delta. this is the one spot we have a bit of a breeze. breezy winds in the upper elevations but we are all out of the north. not too soon to talk about fire danger around the bay today. very, very dry. 70 concord, 63 livermore. speaking of the winds, check it out. nothing at all. santa rosa, san jose. look at the direction from the east here. as we go through the afternoon it begins to shift a little from the south. yes, if you are in santa cruz, monterey, you will get the breeze. then montara, half moon bay, up through pacifica, this is at 11:00 tonight and still with the wind shift they aren't very

strong. tomorrow more typical onshore flow. clear and mild this morning, sunny and warmer today. cooler and chance of showers not only thursday but into the upcoming weekend. with the warmer day today we will be at about 70, 71 ocean beach. talked about the cooler day in santa cruz but warmer in half moon bay, 79 degrees. this is tomorrow. still 80s concord and livermore. another five degrees of cooling or so on the peninsula tuesday. 59 half moon bay. then look what happens into wednesday. so here's the fog today. this is the afternoon tomorrow. it's sunny. we will get into a few more clouds on tuesday. then we get more showers in the sierra nevada. we get a few weak systems signal visit us from the north and a cutoff low to the southwest. this all spells out the chance of showers wednesday, perhaps into thursday. likely in the northern and southern sierra and then into south earn california. so the rest of the week is looking cooler, cloudier.

morning's sports report. >> good morning. well, friday night the lakers hired warriors assistant coach luke walton for their head coach. luke will remain with the warriors until the playoffs are over. luke retired from the lakers just three years ago. now he is in charge of resurrecting the once-proud franchise. he led the warriors to the 34-0 record starting the season when he replaced steve kerr when he had back issues. he won two that will chips with his history with the lakers. he said his history with the lakers was a factor. >> i feel part of the family. >> it's nice to go back and rebuild what we used to have there. >> luke called me maybe around 4:00 or so. he said, i got good news and bad news. i said what's the good news? he said the lakers offered me the job. i said what's the bad news? he said i took it.
