and that breaking news is in the east bay. a 7-year-old boy is safe after a frantic search for him this morning. now walnut creek police are investigating the circumstances around his brief disappearance. thanks for joining us. i'm kristin zee. janet is near the family home in walnut creek. janet, a big sigh of relief. >> reporter: yeah, kristin, we're happy to report that dylan has been found safe and sound at his elementary school which is about three miles away from here.

walnut creek police tell us he left his home about 7:00 a.m. through his garage, then headed across to bay creek elementary without telling his parents. dylan thought he was late to school, and when he arrived, he hid in the bathroom, which is why detectives didn't find him in the first search on campus. well, then the detectives saw him walking out, to everyone's relief. that's when they started calling off the search. police started packing up in the neighborhood where the boy lives. a lot of neighbors in the area joined in the search as well. carrie jackson covered 14 miles on the back trails before she was told dylan has been found. >> wonderful. the ending we were hoping for. perfect. so glad nothing is wrong. he's probably just trying to be independent riding a bike. >> reporter: a family friend told us dylan is very active and smart. police say this is the first time he has left the house on his own. now, dylan is in second grade and he is in class right now, which is right where he should be. reporting live in walnut creek,

janet oh, abc 7 news. developing news, a bay area doctor specializing in opium addiction may have been getting ready to meet with prince the day after he was found dead. the doctor was said to treat prince for an addiction. the attorney says the doctor rushed his son andrew on a red eye from san francisco to minneapolis to treat prince the night before his death, hoping prince would agree to come to the valley for long-term care. >> the doctor felt his mission was a lifesaving mission. that's -- certainly he felt it to be urgent. dr. cornfeld was intending to fly to minnesota on friday. >> attorney bill yamwilliam maz neither the doctor or his son met with the superstar, and they

after a meeting with the victim's family. alberto santana silva saw a fight and he tried to break it up. one of the men left, came back with a gun and shot silva to death. police think the gunman may have had several accomplices. if you know anything, contact police, please. they're using a cell phone to try to track the steps of a missing father. he left his car and phone behind when he left on monday. green was going to meet with his ex-girlfriend about a child custody issue. a hiker found green's cell phone in san francisco's golden gate park on friday. his family and friends are planning to hold a candlelight vigil friday night, hoping for his safe return. if you would like to attend, it's 7:30 p.m. tomorrow night at green hills park. they have changed their plans in sink oe d

they are looking for drunk drivers. oakland still plans to patrol the city to make sure celebrations remain peaceful, but they'll use a state grant to pay for extra dui patrols on another day. it is escalating between the san francisco 49ers and the city of santa clara. the 49ers want a rent discount. they said it cost the city less to build the stadium and they brought in revenue from concerts and things like super bowl 50. they want it dropped to $25,000 a year, 40,000 less than they paid the past two years. >> whether it would go up or down depends on performance, and the performance of this facility with the reduction of debt makes it go lower. >> i don't believe the process was all that transparent in order to come to these numbers,

try doctor-recommended gaviscon. an update now on breaking news in san jose. firefighters have just updated us on a hazmat situation at the indian health center on meridian avenue. abc 7's chris nguyen is there live with new details. chris? >> reporter: and, kristin, we can tell you right now that 17 people have been exposed to a chemical called creosole. if you take a look behind me, you can see we are currently live at the indian health center at santa clara valley.

you can see one of the patients being taken out right now. creo sorks l erk creosole is a mild corrosive, and right now police don't know exactly what that chemical was being used for, but they tell me a small amount of it was dropped on the ground. again, 17 people were exposed. 12 people of the 17 are in the process of being taken to the hospital. we've already seen a couple other people being loaded onto stretchers, some of them being rinsed with water first because the fire department trying to get that chemical off these patients. and many of them are outside right now because of the process, the decontamination process, involves getting these people some fresh air. i want to point out that injuries to these folks are non-life-threatening. we've been told that by the san jose fire department, but we will continue to follow this story and bring you more updates on air and on line at abc7news.com. for now we're live in san jose. i'm chris nguyen, abc 7 news. back to you.

they're trying out gilroy garlic fries in san jose, including here on carlos street in santa clara. >> i don't eat fries anyplace. >> if they put on garlic, would you be interested? >> you bet. you talked me into going in and trying them, so i'll have to try them. >> reporter: the company says it's getting its garlic from gilroy. the other ingredients are parmesan, salt, and as this worker showed us, parsley flakes. the garlic fries have been popular. 238 orders were taken at this one location yesterday. a medium is $2.88, and a large order, $3.28. not everyone is loving it. one unsatisfied customer told us the garlic fries were the most disgusting food he's eaten in his life. but others think the new option will keep them coming back for more. >> i think they're going to be addicting, because they're already addicting.

afternoon. mother's day still looking dry and a little bit warmer. highs today in the upper 50s on the coast, around the bay 65 to about 68 degrees. upper 60s in the south bay and north bay and 70s in our east bay neighborhood. if you're going to the game this afternoon, the heat index will be rather high even though we have a lot of cloud cover out there. if you're susceptible to sun bu burn, go ahead and wear that sunscreen. you see some green dots out there, so let's talk about our impact scales. we rank our storms 1 light, 5 severe. it's going to come in three different days. let's see how it impacts tomorrow by looking at the future radar. 4:00 in the morning, a few light showers. then by noon we see some more develop, especially across our higher elevations as they head to the north. a little quieter friday night,
