after refusing to leave city hall while it demanding the resignation of police chief

suhr. protesters accuse the department of police brutality and unnecessary killings. the crowd actually knocked down a metal detector and used it to prop open one of the doors. demonstrators chanted outside mayor ed lee's office before being forced downstairs. the protest was in sympathy with the hunger strike of the so-called frisco five. all five of hospitalized but are refusing to be force-fed. they said they may take it outside the mission police station where the hunger camp is. a prominent attorney killed at her own home. marlo worked for the san francisco public defender's office for 29 years. a man found at the crime scene is being questioned. here's dan ashley with the details.

>> flowers had lie on the sidewalk outside of the home of marla. a former long time public defender in san francisco who was stabbed to death friday morning. >> poor ma rla, i can't believe it. i've known her since she moved in in the '80s. >> neighbored watches investigators walk in and out of the building on arkansas street. the next door neighbor did not want to be on camera about but told us he heard yelling and saw some someone bloodied in her backyard. he said he's in shock. >> marla had a heart of gold. she was everything you would want a public defender to be. she fought hard, she had tremendous passion for her clients, and she handled some of the toughest cases. >> this includes defending edwin ramos, scheduled to life in prison for the triple murder of a man and his two sons. he had mistaken him as rival gang members. they have not released

information about the suspect but if the public defenders is asked to represent that person. >> for obvious reasons our office could not represent anyone charged. marla was one of us. >> and as dan ashley mentioned, whoever is accused of this murder would have to hire a private attorney because she worked for the public defender. hillary clinton brought her campaign for president to the bay area on friday and did not play any favorites. she visited both sides of the bay beginning with this campaign rally in oakland and ending in san francisco. here is abc7 news reporter leslie brinkley. >> the next president of these united states, hillary rodham clinton! >> hundreds rallied inside this east oakland elementary school gym friday afternoon. she also stopped at her oakland campaign headquarters before zero in on the big picture, the november election and donald trump. >> make sure that the presumptive nominee of the

one of san francisco's biggest landlords is facing a lawsuit from the city. the academy of art owns 40 properties in the city and the city says they are getting away with numerous code violations. >> academy of art is an egregious land use. >> he minced no words. academy of art thumbed its nose at building code regulations for a decade. set up a web of corporate affiliates to purchase and lease properties for the school's use, properties that could have been used for low income housing. >> we desperately need that housing in the midst of our affordable housing crisis. >> the academy has been the subject of two dozen planning hearing meatings. they have been working with the school to resolve problems. a supervisor, a long time crit i had of their real estate empair.

this area of low pressure in storm system affecting pretty much the entire state. acequia look at live doppler hd, you see the shower activity from cloverdale, santa rosa light rain and toward the coast westward from generaller and the rain is moving in from the north east. are you see pope valley, very, very slight shower activity and down through i-80, the delta, fairfield and highway 37 looking at light rain. most of the activity offshore. you see around point reyes could be a little the wet. this is just the beginning. some of the activity will slip in from the sierra nevada toward the east bay, and the rest of the bay throughout the day today. once again, hit-or-miss. kind of hard to say where we will see the shower activity but when we do see it it should be light. but we also could see a slight chance of a thunderstorm. 55 here in san francisco, as well as mountain view and san jose and half moon bay. 57 in oakland.

morgan hill, good morning. 53. you definitely had some bonus rain yesterday. as we look toward the east bay, it's 53 santa rosa with 54 for you in concord, livermore, napa and novato. 55 out by the delta. so we will be looking at the clouds to hang around for much of the day today. so kind of cool numbers. numbers on the mild side but we will get into more sunshine tomorrow as the system pushes off tonight. and for mother's day, looking pretty good. seems like we haven't seen the sun in quite a while. a wider perspective. we are look at the streams running pretty high in the sierra nevada. if you are doing any hiking there, we are looking at the possibility of some of these coming over their banks a lot of snowmelt going on. 46 in the northern sierra. and this check out really shower activity all the way down the sierra nevada and into southern california lacking at plenty of cloud cover. 67 there. a flash flood watch for the san joaquin valley. the shower activity, they are seeing about a third of an inch

around stockton and more from the central valley, the san joaquin valley, the northern sacramento valley and back here toward the bay area. as we go toward the later morning hours, noontime, notice the activity, emeryville, concord, look at southern marin. and by 2:00 south bay, san jose. definitely the santa cruz mountains. perhaps we could see some showers there. i shouldn't say definitely. and which 8:00 still the north bay may be a lingering sprinkle. you look at the amounts really not too impressive with will .4 in concord, over a tenth in santa rosa, maybe a tenth around san jose. highs ranging from 66 in oakland. so with the cloud cover, maybe a thunderstorm. it will be gray and we will be looking at the sun to arrive tomorrow for mother's day. mid-70s inland. look at upper 70s for the first half of the work week into wednesday. looking warmer, dryer, and then we will see slightly cooler air thursday and friday.

again, a reminder warriors and blazers right here on abc7 this afternoon at 5:30. have a great weekend, everybody, and happy mother's day. i'm larry beil. >> 5:49 is the time. lisa, you are tracking the showers out there on live doppler 7hd. >> you were right. we aren't done with the rain yesterday. we have a system that will provide shower activity not only for the morning but the afternoon. could see isolated thunder. a 1 on the storm impact scale. we rate our systems from 1 to 5 all winter long. throughout the spring it's been interesting and really this week it's been quite active. we've had a few thunderstorms and can't rule that out today as this system is slow to move on out. the state. see the entire state is impacted with this. as we take a look a live doppler 7hd. you notice the activity here is scattered about. we will take you close into the north bay where cloverdale, middletown, pope valley and heelsburg lacking at some wet weather. also toward knoxville and to the east here, vacaville, the delta,

highway 80 and perhaps 37 some wet weather. and just the beginning of 680 looking at shower activity. so the coast here could see some hit-or-miss showers. and the rest of the bay pretty quiet. as we widen the view, put the clouds on top of the image and the atlanta shows the circulation is really over much. the state of california, and we are looking at perhaps some heavy rain around the san joaquin valley. mt. tam this morning you see the cloud cover and the sun coming up. and that's in another 20 minutes or so. 55 san francisco. mountain view and san jose, as well as half moon bay. 53 morgan hill with oakland coming in at 57. from sfo the winds will be light. they shouldn't be much of a factor. but we are looking at a lot of low clouds. temperatures in the low 350's santa rosa. 54 concord and napa, novato and out in our east bay valleys, 55 by the delta. and from our exploratorium

camera we expect to hold on to the cloud cover all day long. scattered showers, the possibility of a thunderstorm and looking at a brighter and filedder mother's day. temperatures back into the 70s in response to the may sunshine. so we will look for a dry afternoon tomorrow and as we go through the next several hours you will notice that we have some showers perhaps in the north bay, but by 10:00, 11:00, look what happens. from 830 throughout the east bay, we could see some more showers. and then by noon tame lacking at some wet weather from our east bay, perhaps hayward and oakland. and then by the latter afternoon could see a thunderstorm, maybe the diablo range into the north bay. morgan hill picked up precip yesterday and could be the same today throughout the day. as we go through the evening hours, perhaps showers into the north bay. by the later evening hours things dry up. in terms. amounts, widely varying from a couple hundredths to .2 possible. and if you have a heavy downpour you could see some heavier

amounts around that area. as for today, numbers in the 60s. sort of often form with the cloud cover. slight chance after thunderstorm. lack for 66 in oakland, 68 palo alto, 64 in santa cruz. and today there is a game and we could look for some showers around at&t park at 1:00. 630 degrees. the winds should be light. act weather seven-day fast, sunny and warmer tomorrow for mother's day and the temperatures continue to climb with dry conditions, sunnier days right through wednesday. 70s around the bay. mid-80s inland, and then slightly cooler by the end of the week. it will be nice to get a little more rain around here. >> yeah. but as long as there is sunshine and they will get that tomorrow. >> right. >> thank you. of all the new gadgetsen vented in the bay area, few have been as widely anticipated and criticized at google glass. but as abc jonathan bloom found out, glass may be getting a new life with the people who could one day save your life. it's a story you will seasonal on abc7 news.
