teacher's face is bloody. the 15-year-old student is under arrest. eric thomas is outside mt. diablo high school where this all happened. eric? >> reporter: it is kind of tough to watch the 15-year-old suspect was arrested and booked on felony assault charges and released to his parents. let's take a look at that video that everyone at school is talking about today. it happened in the mt. diablo high school gym yesterday. a 15-year-old student walks into the gym, according to police. the gym timpfer tells him he's

not supposed to be there and asked him to leave. angry words and profanity exchanged, and the student started swinging. we're blurring the student's face because he's a minor, but if you look closely you can see blood from a cut above the teacher's left eye. he refused medical treatment. you may notice the teacher didn't punch back. he just tried to protect himself until he could take the teenager to the ground and get some help. >> i was in class and everyone was speaking about it. >> the teacher did a good job with getting that student to the ground and just kind of detaining him and keeping his composure until he got people to help him. >> sometimes you have to see warning signs and not blaming the grown-up or the adult for the situation but you have to see warning signs that a child or even an adult is getting hostile. >> the teacher has been placed on administrative leave while the district launches its own internal investigation of what happened. they did send home with students

today a flyer telling them that there was an incident on campus an altercation between the student and the teacher. and they say they are taking steps to make sure that everyone's safety is watched very carefully here. there was a school resource officer on campus at the time. once he was notified, he rushed right there and arrested the teenager. once again, the teenager is in his parents' custody. the teacher is on at minudminise leave. >> eric, thank you. the u.s. marshal service is offering a $2500 reward for information leading to the arrest of 26-year-old ricardo colindres, accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend in the head, she was pregnant. that bullet grazed the back of her head. the woman and the baby survived. ñ armed and dangerous. >> we siem he's in the area.

he has family ties to the area. however, we don't know his current whereabouts. we also looking for his vehicle. >> that vehicle is a 2003 silver toyota camry with a california license plate number 6cgn644. investigators say he has family in lodi and frequents brisbane and los angeles. there are new details today regarding the man arrested after a chase and violent confro confrontation with santa clara sha sheriff's deputiy sdeputies >> matt keller has the latest on the case. >> reporter: this is the only person arrested so far from a violent confrontation that took place in the santa cruz mountains yesterday. 43-year-old andray redmond of san francisco was arrested for murder, false imprisonment kidnapping for robbery and burglary. he was captured after crashing a prius 17 piles from the hamilton off-ramp in campbell during a

pursuit with deputies. investigatesors say another man was found in the car with injuries. he died at the hospital. no word yet on his cause of death. deputies say they're still looking to see if he's a suspect or a victim. three men were found in redwood estates less than a quarter mile away from the local market and post office. one was dead on the scene from an apparent gunshot wound, the other two injured. >> completely out of the norm. we're usually a very tight knit community. >> reporter: sheriff's deputies still had ma drone drive blocked off this morning as they continued their investigation. more charges and more arrests could be coming. >> this is a complicated case due to the fact of how many moving crime scenes there were. how many potential victims and potential suspects there are involved in this case. >> reporter: once the sheriff's department finishes its investigation it will be up to the district attorney's office to determine the final charges. in san jose, matt keller, abc 7 news. authorities say the victims in yesterday's fatal shooting on highway 4 in pittsburg were targeted. but they aren't saying what the

motive is. 25-year-old shaneiqua marie was killed when a male passenger was injured in the shooting around 10:00 a.m. near railroad avenue. police say the shots came from a white mercedes. marie was a pregnant mother of four. this was the second fate al shooting on that stretch of highway 4 in a month. this afternoon, san francisco mayor ed lee is backing police chief greg suhr despite growing calls from city officials now to step down. supervisors dave kim, campos, moore and auf alos all believe suhr should step aside, joining the voices of protest rz concerned about the number of officer-involved shootings as well as racist and homophobic test texts involving officers. but supervisors ferrell, tang ang wiener support suhr saying the chief should stay on to implement much needed reforms. >> i have to say that i recognize there's a level of politics that are involved, but, you know, i'm about making sure that these reforms do get done

in the latest harvard public health review is suggesting the olympics be moved or post poened because rio is in the heart of the outbreak of this new dangerous zika strain and there's concern increased tourism will spread the virus. >> the last thing you want during an outbreak is a lot of people coming in. but i don't think the games are going to be moved or postponed. i think the focus needs to be on pregnant women not going. >> reporter: the international olympic committee says it's confident the environment will be safe telling the associated press it's now looking forward with working with the new government to deliver successful games in rio. with the zika outbreak, the world health organization says all olympic travelers should wear insect repellent, even suggesting they wear condoms or on stain from having sex in rio and at least four weeks after they leave. brandi hitt, abc news, los angeles. the two-day shipping wars are ramping up. walmart is offering a speedy delivery service to rival amazon prime. >> 7 on your side's michael finney says it's cheaper, too?

ii schools within the uc system now have to follow rules approved today. abc 7 news reporter lyanne melendez is live with the details. lyan lyanne? >> reporter: you know, one-third of athletes within the entire uc system, they have some kind of academic protection if they are injured. but what about the remaining 66%? well, today the uc regents said it's time to level the playing field. for anyone on the cal basketball team, a guaranteed four-year athletic scholarship is a game-changer. ask roman davis, a freshman. >> i can finish up my education no matter what happens on the koert. i believe that's very important, and i think it's -- i think -- i know that was a very big thing that i thought about in my decision to come here. >> reporter: both cal and ucla are division i-teams and must abide by pac-12 conference rules which in 2012 stated that these colleges must continue to provide financial support to

athletes who are injured and forced to stop playing. >> they look at you more as a person rather than just kind of an athlete. >> reporter: today the uc regents said it was time to include some of the other ucs, all division ii colleges. that means the financial help would continue past the four years until the degree is completed. the policy applies to students who are injured during practice or while competing for the university. only two of the ucs will be excluded, santa cruz and merced, who are division iii schools. the regents voted on 14 new recommendations that affect uc athletes such as providing more academic support and orientation on sexual misconduct, mental health and diversity. student athletes are also given priority when registering for classes. coaches will no longer be able to recruit great players who are not prepared to make it in the classroom. cal has had these reforms in place for several years. since then, some of uc berkeley's sports programs have improved their academic

uniform. toen tonight he is accused of using it to assault women on the job. good evening, i'm kristen sze. >> i'm dan ashley. the accusations are shocking, a serial rapist according to investigators. vic lee is live in redwood city tonight at the san mateo county hall of justice with the story. vic? >> reporter: san mateo police chief susan manheimer calls these, and i quote, serious and grave allegations. the d.a.'s office is still investigating this case, but our sources tell us that there are at least five women who have come forward telling police that they were sexually assaulted by this former officer and there may be more. the student newspaper at american river college in sacramento profiled noah winchester two years ago. at the time, he was with the campus police department. winchester talked about his role in keeping everyone safe. he later transferred to the san mateo police department. now he's the subject of an

investigation by the district attorney's office. >> we are conducting an investigation into mr. winchester and conduct that he engaged in while a police officer. >> reporter: d.a. wagstaff would not go into detail when we asked about the focus of the probe. >> it's misconduct while on duty in manner in which he dealt with women. >> reporter: abc 7 news has learned independently that the investigation centers around allegations of rape and sexual assault. in the fall of last year, a young woman told burlingame police that she had been sexually assaulted in her car by a san mateo officer here at coyote point recreational area. investigators later identified him as winchester. burlingame reported the attack to the san mateo police department which then referred it to the d.a.'s office. that investigation led to two other women who claim they, too, had been sexually assaulted by winchester. d.a. investigators then began looking for possible victims when winchester was a campus cop in sacramento.
