live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 fuse. >> now at 11:00, sex, drugs and explosiveses. east bay police are on alert warning high school students not to play a very dangerous game. good evening. i'm dan ashley. >> i'm ama daetz. the game is a scavenger hunt that involves students from several east bay high schools. >> abc7 news reporter leslie brinkly is live in alameda with the story. leslie? >> reporter: fortunately so far police say they haven't fielded any calls yet tonight in this so-called scavenger hunt involving juniors and seniors in oakland, berkeley and in alameda. the object is to score points by doing startlingly dangerous and illegal activity. >> it was like a scavenger hunt going on. >> students heard about it and so did the school officials who issued an e-mail blast

midday warning parents at four high school campuses in alameda. >> what we heard is it could involve drugs, drinking, sex and even potentially eke plows -- explosive. that's a volatile combination. >> the teens reportedly plan to drive around a recording videos of themselves involved in criminal activity and then posting them on-line as proof. >> mugging people i have heard and the cops were getting involved and teachers were telling kids to be careful where they were walking. >> clearly this would pose a grave physical danger to our students, but there is the damage to their on-line reputation and their college and career success. >> alameda school officials city it included st. joseph's high school in alameda along with other catholic high schools in berkeley and oakland. >> i felt kind of scared in wondering what are they going to do. >> it was supposed to end at

10:30 p.m. >> i hope it is a hoax. let's hope it is a hoax. >> many hope it never happened at you will a. i'm leslie brinkley, abc7 news. a family of four is recovering after their jetski flipped over in pittsburgh. it happened shortly after they were rescued at 6:00. everyone was wearing a life jacket. this picture from east county .net shows them warming up after their rescue. one adult and two children went to john muir medical center with mild hypothermia. a sex scandal triggered a new policy tonight. >> we will not tolerate criminal miss -- misconduct. we owe that to the residents of oakland. >> abc7 news was at oakland city hall where the police chafe and the mayor announced the district attorney will be alerted to any suspicions of wrongdoing involving officers. they were under an internal investigation for misconduct that the law enforcement

sources say involves the daughter of a police department dispatcher who may have been underage. it started with the suicide of the police officer of brian bran dan. his wife's death was also ruled a suicide and there was initially some suspicion about her death. the suicide note and the events prompted him to take his own life. they say they are withholding judgment until chargesiare filed. >> it is tragic if the district attorney succumbs to media pressure and don't make decisions based on the evidence. >> the alameda county d.a. is conducting an independent parallel investigation. we are hearing from the san francisco bicyclist who was injured after he was hit by a police cruiser. >> the crsh was caught on cam dsh dash the crash was caught on camera. we go to the south of market neighborhood with the story. serming yow? >> the bicyclist tells me he just entered the green lane

here at second street and mission. in the video you can see how he was hit. in dash cam video from a smartphone app called nexar you can see the collision clearly. timothy doyle said he was hoping to make it through the yellow light at second and mission. >> and he didn't see me and we just collided like that. >> doyle was surprised the crash was caught on video. jay they were at -- >> they were at fault for sure. they had their blippinger on to -- their blinker on. then they said we will pull over here and go this way. >> he spent the night in the hospital. he has a pretty big cut on his leg and a minor back injury, but he was able to walk up a flight of stairs to show us the damaged bicycle. a police spokesman says the crash is still under investigation. they did confirm the police cruiser was not headed to an emergency call. the san francisco bicycle coalition said this could have been prevented. >> the cars can't make those kinds of turns if there is a protected bike lane on the

road. >> one of the best examples is on polk street near city hall. timothy doyle tells me he is not mad at the police. >> if you have an accident, have it with a cop. it was lucky. >> thursday was bike to work day. he is disappointed it ended with a trip to the hospital. in san francisco, abc7 news. >> an amtrak train headed to oakland slams into a pick up truck killing three people. it happened late this afternoon in a rural area near fresno. they believe the truck's driver tried to go around a freight train that was stopped and didn't see the amtrak train speeding toward it on a second set of tracks. the train split the truck in two and no one on board the train was injured. >> pittsburgh may set up surveillance cameras to help stop a string of shootings. 24r* were six shootings since last june. the latest is a mother of four died on wednesday when another driver opened fire on her

vehicle. the plan would set up cameras at key city owned locations costing $100,000. >> tonight we are learning new details about a deadly crime spree in the south bay. on wednesday one victim was found shot to death at a home 0 madrone drive. the second victim was found in a crashed car in campbell. the accused killer went to court. >> the widow, siblings and the close friend of the victim robin hardin were in court and charged with two counts of murder. >> this was obviously a disturbing crime. >> in new court documents the santa clara county investigators say redmond and an accomplice went into the redwood estate homes on wednesday armed and demanding money. they encountered hardin's adult son. they held the barrel of a handgun to his head and hit him several times with a mallet. they bound him around his wrists, ankles and mouth with duct tape. when hardin came home there

was a fight followed by approximately six gunshots. investigators say he died of a gunshot wound to the head. >> this was a violent home invision. >> witnesses say two men took off in a silver prius after a pursuit on highway 17 going more than 100 miles an hour. the prius crashed on hamilton avenue of the redmond troid to run, but was caught on his path. deputies found a bloody vest and a bloody glove. in the car, redmond's accomplice covered in blood from a large laceration on his arm. he died at the hospital and appears to be the john doe redmond is accused of killing. >> i don't want to speculate as to what his relationship to the victims may have been. >> the first item was to get more bullets. a second note is have the victim's address on it. abc7 news. >> repairs should wrap up on a sewer main that caused a big sinkhole in san francisco. abc7 news was on mission street as crews in stalled a new 36-inch sewer pipe that

warning that this site is unencrypted and anyone can listen in. and then there is this alert that this hotspot might be a different network with the same name. >> those warnings are there to tell us that we are potentially entering into a dangerous situation. >> you may also be on a bogus hotspot if your app stops working or your browser starts spiting error messages. >> it is always a cat and mouse game. since there is that such thing as 100% security. >> you can win that game by taking some simple steps. when on public wi-fi encrypt your data by attaching to a public network. connect to the next generation hotspot. pass point or hotspot 2.0 like those deployed in san jose and in san francisco. and always connect to url's with https in the address.

we have patches of low clouds out there. it is cooler than normal for your weekend and we are looking at a normal pattern monday to wednesday of next week. the temperatures will start off in the mid40s to the mid50s. you will notice the skies are are pretty much gray across the entire bay area and there will be some damp spots as that drizzle develops. here is your time line of what is going to happen. the low clouds pretty mop become widespread. tomorrow morning a narrow line of drizzle begins to develop at 7:00 a.m. ahead of this system here. the system will bring rain to northern california, but for us it will be drizzly spots. 10:00 a.m. as well. if you have plans around that time keep that in mind. and then the front fizzles out. we will see cool ocean air and the sea breeze and the temperatures will run below average for this time of year for your saturday afternoon. take a look at this live picture and a beautiful view of city hall and san francisco. 5* 12-hour day planner looks
