good morning. i'm diane macedo. >> and i'm kendis gibson this tuesday morning on "world news now." donald trump is calling the story about his treatment of women a fraud. now a former model featured in the article has taken his side. meanwhile, new allegations have surfaced accusing trump of repeatedly avoiding taxes, a full report ahead. and the same wildfire that destroyed sections of ft. mcmurray, canada, earlier this month is now forcing thousands of oil production workers to evacuate for a second time. the fast-moving fire is moving north forcing evacuations at work camp more than 30 miles from the city. there's a flood warning in effect through tomorrow. parts of south texas and a boil water advisory, as well. many streets and highways underwater. hundreds of vehicles have stalled on them.

>> donald trump in the meantime is on a twitter rant about a story how he treats women. trump declared "the new york times" article a fraud after a former model interviewed for the story denounced the same report calling trump a gentleman. in the meantime, trump is facing new allegations of avoiding taxes. here's abc's brian ross. >> reporter: in its promotional video, the trump national golf club in new york, with its stately clubhouse, championship course and 100-foot waterfall, is presented as an elite playground for the wealthy. trump has publicly boasted that this place is worth more than $50 million. but now, his tax lawyers are trying to claim it's worth only a little over $1 million. $1.3 million. that would mean his tax bill would drop from $808,000 a year to just $80,000. and now, this small town is forced into a legal fight with donald trump. >> there are individual homes

worth a lot more than $1.3 million. how could it possibly be that low? >> reporter: going back decades, trump has been a master of tax loopholes and accounting maneuvers. >> i fight very hard to pay as little tax as possible. >> reporter: when he bought this luxurious yacht, the $29 million "princess" in the 1980s, he said he did it for the good of america. >> and i like to see the great jewels of the country being owned by the people of this country. and it had a big play as to why i bought this boat. >> reporter: but part of the play was to avoid paying the new jersey state sales tax on the purchase. trump used offshore and out of state corporations to buy the yacht and then lease it back to him, ducking a $1.75 million tax bill. >> if there's a loophole, donald is laser-focused on it. >> reporter: again and again, the billionaire boasts his properties are the most amazing, the most luxurious, the best. until it's time to pay up. in the 1980s, a new york city audit found that trump and his partners in the grand hyatt hotel vastly underreported the

hotel's profits, which shortchanged the city $2.8 million. >> sneaky? oh, it was very sneaky. he cheated the city of a substantial sum of money. >> reporter: trump has denied any direct role, but auditors found he signed off on this letter, what officials called the sneaky accounting programs that led to the underreporting. brian ross, abc news, new york. so overnight, former candidate marco rubio went on a mini twitter rant of his own some 11 or so tweets over the course of an hour. he was outraged about a "washington post" article about his plans for the future. a few hours ago rubio firing off complaining about sources that are supposedly close to him. he said he's already stated plans to wrap up his senate term in january about a thousand times he ended by saying okay, that's enough for one night. twitter isn't something you should just rush back into.

a lot of folks agreed with him on than. federal investigators are expected to outline the probable cause of the deadly amtrak derailment a year ago in philadelphia. a source says they will say the train engineer brandon bostian was distracted by radio message about a problem on another train and didn't realize his train was going too fast. eight passengers were killed. former congressman and iraq veteran patrick murphy was injured and he shared his story with abc news. >> i have done two combat deployments. there was times in those deployments that i thought that was the end. i thought that night on amtrak, i thought it was the end, frankly. you could tell, i mean it happened so fast. you didn't have time to think about it. i remember thinking this was it. i just heard a loud noise, and then i could feel a shake as if it was something bad was happening. and i immediately grabbed the table in front of me and gripped for dear life but was instantaneously just thrown

across the train car and about 200 pounds and 6'1" machine and i was thrown as if i was a rag doll, frankly. i looked up. i saw there was an emergency exit. the side window was now the roof. i ripped open the emergency handle. once we get that emergency exit open, just instructed people one at a time and helping them out and helping them of the car that any soldier would do. the violent movement of that crash where i was thrown to the other side of the car and to be able to walk away you know with just a concussion was something that i am grateful for. i'm really grateful that i was able to go home that night. i mean eight of my fellow passengers were killed in that crash. and they weren't able to go home and see their families like i was. >> that was patrick murphy sharing his story with us. now, in the wake of the crash,

the ntsb is expected to recommend better training for engineers and they may recommend whether having two crew members in the locomotive would be safer than just one. >> the boat two teenagers were in when they disappeared during a fishing trip last year is now backing in florida. it arrived from the bahamas. security videos show perry cohen and austin stephanos leaving on their trip. they were never seen again. cohen's mother is asking authorities to conduct a forensic investigation of that vessel. the navy is days away from taking charge of its newest, largest and most expensive destroyer, the "uss zumwalt." it is 610 feet long. because of its sharp angled geometric design, it's said to be 50 times more difficult to detect on radar as other similarly sized vessels. the final price tag for the zumwalt expected to be nearly $4.5 billion.

the man who taught the world to sing in perfect harmony has died. bill backer created the classic coca cola commercial and the jingle featured in it 45 years ago. it became a hit record back then and even featured as a finale for madmen just last year. big backer, the real life ad man who wrote the lyrics was 89 years old. another musical passion of note, jane little held the guinness world record for the longest tenure with a single orchestra. she joined the atlanta orchestra at 18. jane collapsed on stage during a performance and she died later at the hospital. the song the orchestra was playing, "there's no business like show business." >> almost like she planned it. >> if you're going to go, what a way. >> after so many years on the stage to, die on the stage to that song, fantastic. to berlin now and a shopping mall yesterday was filled with not shoppers but musicians. some 50 members of the german

"times" is standing by its reporting. it's your voice, your vote this morning. the latest from abc's lana zak. >> reporter: donald trump had no official appearances monday but he was still front and center on the campaign trail. a former model quoted in a front page "new york times" investigation into the likely republican nominee's relationship with women is coming to his defense. saying an incident described as degrading by the newspaper was in fact not. >> he's very much a gentleman. and he's polite. he's thoughtful. she's a good listener. >> trump tweeting we've exposed the article is a fraud. the "times" is standing by its story which also quoted other women accusing trump of crossing the line. at the same time, the likely democratic presidential nominee is zeroing in on the republican front runner. >> let's just imagine i'm on a

debate stage with donald trump. so let's suppose here's the question. so what is your plan to create jobs? >> his answer is, i'm going to create them. they're going to be great. i know how to do it. but i'm not telling what it is i'm going to do. >> reporter: hillary clinton also responded to a heckler at a kentucky campaign stop who shouted that's not true. >> it's time people stopped listening to republican propaganda. >> reporter: clinton's challenger senator bernie sanders is campaigning in financially strapped puerto rico. the two democrats will fight it out tuesday in the kentucky and oregon primaries while trump will pick up more delegates in his quest to clinch the nomination. lana zak, washington. >> some two weeks after quitting the race for the white house, john kasich is ruling out a third party run. he tells cnn people have reached out to him as alternative to

donald trump but he said it would not be constructive. kasich also said he has no interest in becoming trump's running mate and he's still not sure if trump will get his endorsement. congress made it closer to approving additional funds to battle the zika virus. republicans in the house have offered a $622 million measure. that's about a third of what president obama requested. meanwhile, the senate is scheduled to vote later today on a bill that would provide just over $1 billion in funding. that's expected to get the green light. we now know there will be no showdown in the supreme court over the obama administration's rules for cost free access to contraception. court sent the case back to the lower courts with instructions to explore a compromise. that avoids what could have been an even split ruling as the high court currently has only eight justices. faith based groups are challenging the administration's arrangement for sparing them from paying birth control costs of women covered under their health plans.

the president says the effect of the court's move is women will still be able to get contraception. the court handed avictory to internet search firm spokeo. the justices threw out an appeals court decision in favor of a virginia man hop had sued because an online profile about him was filled with errors. in a 6-2 decision, the court ruled that consumers could bring legal challenges only if those errors had caused actual harm. now to the extreme weather in the southern u.s. severe thunderstorms are taking particular aim at oklahoma, texas, and louisiana. residents of corpus christie, texas, say they've never seen flooding like this before and they got as much as a foot of rain in just five or six hours. hundreds of vehicles stalled out and dozens of people had to be rescued. that same storm system also produced damaging winds and the occasional tornado like this one in oklahoma near the new mexico border. luckily now significant damages or injuries reported yet. >> this morning federal

investigators are expected to place the blame for last year's fatal amtrak crash in philadelphia. the reason is distracted driving. a source close to the investigation says the engineer was paying too much attention to radio traffic about another problem. a rock thrown at a philadelphia commuter train. the amtrak train went into a curve much too fast. eight passengers were killed in that derailment. federal investigators have arrived at the scene of a deadly plane crash in mississippi. four people traveling from texas to virginia were killed when the plane went down. abc's steve osunsami has the latest. >> reporter: federal aviation authorities are at this tragic scene tonight, just outside the tupelo airport, trying to figure out what brought down the private plane just seconds after takeoff. >> we got smoke in our cockpit, we need to come back -- >> reporter: right before the crash, the pilot radioed back the frightening distress call, saying he had smoke up front. >> i've got some smoke in the cockpit. >> reporter: the plane, bound for virginia, crashed into this field, where they say it sounded like thunder. it barely missed hitting nearby

homes. >> i could see the smoke from over there and it was just so -- it was so black. >> reporter: firefighters who raced to the scene found the remains of the four victims, pieces of the plane on fire and little else. >> there's quite a bit of debris. it could have been some mechanical problems or something that caused this plane crash. >> reporter: the names of the people killed gathered from flight records has yet to be released. the coroner says he'll need dna to make a positive i.d. steve osunsami, abc news, atlanta. now to a scary few seconds for a driver in the d.c. area. a wall collapsed just missing that silver suv. the alert driver, look at the scene here, getting out of the way just in the nick of time. investigators think the ground was soft from all the recent rain and a section of the foundation gave way causing the wall to crash down. >> scary one. so apple may be having some trouble lately but warren buffett clearly still has faith.

his company berkshire hathaway recently purchased more than $1 billion of apple stock boosting the value by nearly 4%. last month apple reported its first quarterly loss in 13 years and buffett usually avoids investing in tech companies. that small stubhub logo on the jersey of the philadelphia 76ers is the first among the four big u.s. sports. the first corporate ad that will begin appearing on the team's jersey starting the season after next when a three-year pilot program begins. the sixers apparently sold all three seasons to the site at $5 million a year. >> quite a good deal for stubhub. >> a lot of exposure out of it. >> i'm not sure how much exposure. the team only won ten games last year. >> let's talk about the nba. last night's western conference finals started out well for the golden state warriors. they were playing, of course, oklahoma city at home.

can you please bring up my car right now. >> reporter: we are just 15 minutes into our experiment. our producer is working up quite a sweat. and stanton not so much. >> when's my car coming? >> right there. there we go. >> reporter: they ask for the ticket which stanton claims he doesn't have. but they look at the name tag on the stolen luggage and off he goes. >> and it's as easy as that. >> reporter: later that day at a nearby hotel, stanton tracks another gma producer. >> ferguson. >> so once again, right to the front desk listening to the name room exchange. when our producer leaves the hotel, stanton sees his opening and our would be thief springs into action, again pretending to be someone he's not. >> room 711. >> reporter: from a house room phone, he calls to have housekeeping sent to the producer's room. with cameras rolling he walks right in. instead of letting housekeeping do their job, he sends them away. >> you're off the hook. >> you're off the hook. i'm going to jump in the shower. >> reporter: now with the room

and that same storm system is bringing damaging winds and the occasional tornado like this one that was spotted in oklahoma near the new mexico border. no significant damage or injuries reported. but that doesn't mean the south is out of danger today. far from it. >> yeah, accuweather's paul williams is tracking storms for us. good morning, paul. >> good morning to you, as well. three things we're going to have to watch out for, damaging winds between 50 and 75-mile-an-hour winds, hail the size of baseballs and, of course, flooding downpours. keep in mind we're looking for big cities to be hit with dallas, shreveport, austin, san antonio as well as houston, expecting these areas to be hit with tornadoes. then there's a secondary problem. you see this gulf moisture that's coming off plus a change in the jet stream? >> that combination will make it uglier for the folks in texas, louisiana, arkansas, oklahoma, going into mississippi. we're looking at the possibility of flash flooding along i-10.

stretching through thursday. >> and on the other end of the weather spectrum, this massive dust storm in eastern arizona closed parts of interstate 10 for a while yesterday. it was the second time in as many days the freeway was shut. officials tried spraying a large farm field with water to try to cut down on the dust. >> voters head to the polls today in kentucky and oregon. donald trump continues to blast "the new york times" for an article about his relationship with women. but he now has a surprising ally, an ex-girlfriend featured in that actual story. we have more now from abc's cecilia vega. >> reporter: the former model quoted in a front page "new york times" investigation into donald trump's relationships with women is coming to his defense. rowanne brewer lane now denouncing the story. it said when she met the billionaire, trump immediately took her into a room at his mar-a-lago estate, asked her to put on a swimsuit and then paraded her before a crowd.

>> i think they had an agenda with that one, because as many times as i asked and as many times as they promised that it was not a hit piece, clearly it was. >> reporter: "the times" portrayed the incident as degrading, but brewer lane, who went on to date trump, says it wasn't. >> he's very much a gentleman. and he's polite, he's thoughtful, he's a good listener. >> reporter: trump tweeting, "we have exposed the article as a fraud." but "the times" is standing by its reporting, saying brewer lane was quoted fairly, accurately and at length. the story quoted other women, too -- >> miss utah! >> reporter: including a former miss utah, who told the paper trump introduced himself and kissed her on the lips. she said it was not an isolated incident and called it gross. it wasn't the only reason trump was playing defense. he also fired back at british prime minister david cameron, who called his proposed muslim ban stupid. >> well, number one, i'm not stupid, okay? i can tell you that right now.

clinton administration. >> bernie sanders is looking ahead to next month's contest heading to california after wrapping up his visit it out puerto rico. sanders held three events on the island which is mired by a decade long economic crisis. he told thousands of supporters puerto rico must be given time to restructure its debt, grow its economy and create jobs. he rejected the call for austere measures. >> secretary of state john kerry kicks off day two of high level talks on the middle east. yesterday kerry and the italian foreign minister hosted a conference in vienna. today, the u.s. along with 16 other nations will discuss extending the cease-fire in syria. and we have breaking news in the manhunt for two brothers wanted in connection with the murder of a washington state couple. one of those brothers is finally in custody. the sheriff's department says tony reed contacted the u.s. marshal service and agreed to

surrender yesterday at the mexican border and now being held in san diego. john reed is still on the loose. they are suspects in the disappearance and presumed murder of their former neighbors whose bodies have not been found. president obama honored a group of the nation's law enforcement heros at the white house. he presented them with the medal of valor, the highest honor given to law enforcement. among those receiving the medal was l.a. officer donald thompson who while on duty suffered serious burns while pulling an unconscious man out of a burning car. oklahoma officer david huff received his medal for confronting a hostage taker at a walmart, saving the life of a 2-year-old girl. >> the public safety officers we recognize today with the medal of valor found courage not in search of recognition, they did it instinctively. >> and the grandmother of philadelphia officer robert wilson accepted his medal for him.

wilson was killed while customers at a store when gunmen opened fire. a prep school graduate convicted of sex assault could be freed from jail tomorrow. owen labrie's bail was revoked in march after he violated his curfew. yesterday a judge said he would allow him to be free on appeal as long as labrie wore an electronic monitoring bracelet. he was convicted of assaulting a 15-year-old girl while both were students at a prestigious boarding school. and singer sinead o'connor has been found safe in the suburbs of chicago. she was listed as missing after not returning from a bike ride early on sunday. two hours after she started that ride, a rambling message was posted on her official facebook page. she was diagnosed with bipolar disease more than a decade ago. she has thoughts of suicide and overwhelming fear. >> tiger woods ahead of the upcoming tournament he's hosted in maryland. >> woods told reporters he's getting closer to a comeback saying he was hitting the ball
